First off, this campsite is LOVELY. The hosts clearly put a lot of thought and care into creating this little oasis. The amenities of a hammock and swing couch were cozy and clean, and the composting toilet was very well maintained. Communication with the hosts was courteous and near-instantaneous. The homemade wine was delicious.
However, its close proximity to Portland (convenient!) did come with some drawbacks: this campsite is directly under a flight path from PDX, and planes flying low and loud throughout the night (as well as trucks on nearby Highway 30) pierced the otherwise peaceful surroundings. The next door neighbor's riding mower/heavy construction noises woke us up in PLENTY of time to break down camp in the morning.
As a getaway from city noises and city lights, I can't quite recommend it. As a beautifully appointed and unique campsite, particularly for its low price, it's a steal.
If you're thinking about booking this place, do it!
It's absolutely as charming as the pictures make it out to be. It's unfortunate that circumstances of geography (overhead planes, nearby traffic noise and early morning construction, a truly strenuous uphill hike to reach the site) have me reconsidering whether or not I'll book another stay. This campsite truly is a gem, and it's not the host's fault that the noise pollution was so active during our stay.
