We had a fantastic stay at Barlow RV. The location is close to plenty of mountain hikes and small towns nearby.
We selected Barlow due to all the extra amenities offered. Having the gas grill and nice dining table with retractable shade awning made such a great difference!
The landscaping at each site is high end and well done. Sites feel spacious and private.
Advance communication was top notch with many suggestions on what you can find in the local area. The check in process was easy. The wifi worked great.
This is a fantastic property and I look forward to returning.

My husband and I arrived on a Wednesday afternoon, never been to this area, but Kim was so helpful and responsive as to which direction to pull a 40+ foot toy hauler there. (I am terrified by mountain roads)! We pulled directly up to our site. We did have to move a few boulders to get our 5th wheel aligned with power, water, sewer! The site was FABULOUS! The views, the wild life (Mommy and baby deers) were ample (for viewing) and you had a piece of the mountain all to yourself. The rental folder had everything inside. The internet/wi-fi was awesome! We were able to use phones and stream movies on TV with 4 of us. My Son and Fiance' came later Thursday night and they had no issues finding or getting to our site. Which had a designated parking space that was perfect. The conversation between Kim and myself were immediate responses! We were there for the 2025 Grandfather Mountain Scottish Highland Games, which you have to go to a designated place (we chose Avery County High School), park, and ride bus up. This was about 15/20 minutes away, which was perfect! We had a four day pass. Banner Elk was about 15 minutes away in the other direction! We enjoyed both areas! Just for reference, there was an Ingles Grocery Store about 15 minutes away. We did miss the dog park, but thanks to Hurricane Helena, it ravaged all that area, but plans to redo. This area was hit pretty hard by Hurricane, but you can tell it's being rebuilt, redone, fixed and made better!

This is a beautiful campground! The Granddaddy site is especially spacious and was perfect for us and our 3 dogs to enjoy. I had the pleasure of meeting Kim, and she's got great ideas for how to further develop the campground with dogs in mind. The owners have included lovely touches such as fresh herbs at the grilling space, and a splitter and hose was included at the water hookup. We were there for a week that included lots of rain, but when we were able to enjoy the site, it was a lovely and relaxing experience. There is lots to do and explore nearby. This is definitely on our list of places to return to!

Great campsite and great host. The landscaping is amazing and can't wait to see the expansion. Didn't make the hike to the top but can imagine the sunset being worth it. Thank you Kim and Ripley for allowing us to stay and we look forward to seeing you again.

Would recommend. Owners are terrific. The land itself is well done and their thoughtfulness and responsiveness is exceptional. They have a great attention to detail. The campsite was peaceful while we were there. Site 4 would currently be the most private. FYI-- Surrounding areas still very much recovering from the hurricane.

This RV park is a gem! Kim and Ripley have put a lot of care designing it and the result is 4 beautiful sites with an incredible view! Each site has chairs around a fire pit, a nice table and benches under a canopy and a great barbecue. The hosts even provide tools for the barbecue! We will be back, it is worth the 2 day drive!

The BarlowRV is my favorite campsite ever! I’ve been camping many years, at KOA’s, State Parks, Private Campgrounds and this place is my favorite. Kim and Ripley make it so easy. The property is all about nature, wildlife, and enjoying it all with great amenities. I hate to share about this place because it will make it harder for me to get in next time, once people find out about it.

I spent four nights at Site #2. It was wonderful! Kim and Ripley have really thought of everything, even homemade dog treats on arrival! All of the sites are new and have good spacing between them. I really liked the location of #2 and I would definitely book it again. Easy access to Grandfather, Banner Elk, Sugar, Beech, and Roan. We hiked some of the AT along the Elk River and also around Carvers Gap. All paved roads to the property. No complaints at all.

An amazing property with an abundance of wildlife. Very quiet, and well appointed. Full hookups with plenty of water pressure. Centrally located to many points of interest. Owners very responsive & helpful. Don’t forget to get the farm fresh eggs from the farmer next door who was born in his house! Such a sweet site 😊
