Absolute perfection
If you want to pretend you are literally inside a Thomas Kinkade painting you found the place. It's an absolute perfect slice of Appalachia. The landscape is genuinely stunning. The farm is beautiful. The river is pristine. Get some eggs and sausage and bacon when you arrive. I Promise it's worth it. Low and slow on a skillet to maximize the richness of the pork.

Quiet, relaxing retreat!
Beautiful property with much to see and do. Every site available has either a mountain and/or river view. Adirondack chairs are placed throughout the farm for guests to use. The hosts were attentive and with their delicious local meat on-site for purchase (bacon, chorizo, and so much more!), we couldn’t have asked for a better weekend getaway. Don’t forget your bathing suit as the clean river has shallow + deeper spots for swimming!

Such a beautiful piece of land. My husband our dog an I had a wonderful time at a farm. Site 4 is beautiful with easy access to river. Catherine and Rick are very nice and helpful. Make sure to try the Italian sausage while you're at the farm.

Two Thumbs Up! 👍🏼👍🏼
Where do I begin?! My wife and I decided to celebrate our three year wedding anniversary roughing it in WNC. Our first time experience with Hipcamp was a huge success thanks to Catherine and Rick for an unforgettable time spent on their beautifully sculpted masterpiece of a ranch! Too good to be true?? Guess again! From rolling hills to vibrant meadows nestled in between, the pictures simply don’t do it justice. Once we arrived, Rick greeted us with a kind, warm welcome, making check-in a snap. He eagerly escorted us to our campsite (No. 7) where we were soon immersed into an authentic Appalachian paradise. The campsite featured plush, green grass (no shoes necessary) complimented by a gentle, sleepy creek meandering around the perimeter. A variety of hardwoods lined the creek bank, providing a serene atmosphere, boasting ample shade to host a picnic on the hottest of days. We opted for the tour (highly recommend). On our second day, Catherine showed us around the ranch, educating us on her diverse community of livestock: donkeys, hogs, and chickens. She gave us a brief tour of her exclusive Air B&B, 17 Degrees North, which offered a spectacular view of the valley abroad. Catherine was quite knowledgeable as well as a delight to be around! If you’re looking for a memorable camping trip, I definitely recommend giving this place a whirl because Smoky Mountain River Ranch will do everything but disappoint!
