Voted #1 in NC and Top 50 in the USA!! We are a Mangalitsa farm in The Smoky Mountains of western NC. The entire property is oriented toward private farmland views, a half mile of river and surrounding mountains. It's really quite remarkable to be so accessible yet feel so remote! Come swim, fish, cook and play! PLEASE NOTE, our rate is based on the number of vehicles in your group. The first vehicle is included in the nightly rate and admits 4 campers. WE CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL CARS. The charge will be added to your booking once you select the number of vehicles at checkout. Please note that each additional car admits four campers. For EXAMPLE, 2 cars = 8 campers total. If you only have two cars but more than eight people, YOU MUST select the "Extra Person" Extra for each night they are camping. Please select these extras at checkout. If you have questions about this PLEASE message me prior to booking. Our 95-acre farm was once owned by the Davis family who predominantly raised dairy cattle. We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too! All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites. Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets. No porta potties are provided b/tw Dec 15 and March 15 Please contact us in advance regarding paying for firewood ($7/5 pieces), dogs ($15 each), day vehicle visitors ($30), private farm tour ($15/person) and/or a private porta potty ($120). thank you! Quiet hours are from 10pm to 9am. Checking in before 5 pm is requested. Later times may be available with prior arrangements. Our farm is very dark and navigating at night is difficult. Contact Catherine directly so you can be checked in safely and accommodate your schedule. LIMITED CHECK-INS AFTER DARK. We are 1 mile off of I 40, 17 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 15 min. to Maggie Valley, 10 min to the Elk at Cataloochee, 25 min to Cataloochee ski area, 10 min to Lake Junaluska and 15 min to downtown Waynesville. Asheville is 20 miles to our East.

Gentle grassy slopes lead to the water's edge while views across the river are of rugged forest and cattle. Build a fire and enjoy the eagles, turtles and cranes that grace the river. Sun and shade. Recently renovated using locally mined boulders, this site is now accessible by road or walking from your car down a stone path (15 yards) to a pea gravel campsite with a firepit and picnic table. Suited for 3 cars maximum and 1 very small overland trailer.

This is a flat knoll of firm dirt called 'weathered rock' that will require minimal leveling. Gravel leads to this site. Suited for several cars or buses or cars with trailers or several motorhomes. An afternoon walk up the hill or through the woods with a bottle of wine is rewarded with 360 views of the stunning Smoky Mountains. Later, crystal clear running water back at your campsite will refresh your soul and lull you to sleep. Suited for several cars, campers and cars with trailers. Offers a pea gravel foundation with firepit and picnic table.

Glamping elevated in the Smoky Mountains of western NC! Our 40' by 24' deck offers a play on the open air 'cabin'. The enclosed space boasts a private full ensuite bathroom, king sized bed, ceiling fan, heat/ac, kitchnette, refrigerator and freezer drawers, cooktop, convection toaster oven, Keurig coffee maker and wall mounted fireplace. For an open air experience, draw open the 10' wide glass garage door to the deck and sweeping mountain views. Cable railing, an in-deck hammock and sleek furniture keep the space unobstructed conveying a feeling of floating on air! Additionally, a lovely large boulder and pea gravel patio with adirondack chairs, chaise lounge chairs, a propane firepit and propane BBQ round out the experience. Unlimited pets are allowed; $40 for the first and $20 each additional however we do make exceptions for toy breeds. We will accept payment upon arrival. Parking for 17* N is up our private gravel farm road and two vehicles are permitted with your reservation. Our location is 1 mile off of I 40 though you cannot hear the traffic. No winding mountain roads to paradise, simply book and enjoy all that the nature of the mountains have to offer.

It was perfect! The campsite was great for me and my camper and my dog- level, secluded and next to water. The sounds of the creek and the fireflies twinkling at night had me just all rolled up in the stars to sleep! The rolling green hills are so nice that you can walk barefoot through them! The animals add to the experience of being with nature. Sunsets are amazing, my dog swam his tail off and I got to see a beautiful part of North Carolina country! My four night stay unfolded into nine- best decision I made on my road trip. The property is amazing and near all the highlights of the area and Catherine is an exceptional host! Don't pass up on the sausage- its delicious! And i enjoyed the farm tour too!

Amazing place along the Pigeon River! Incredibly beautiful, rolling farmland. We were treated twice to a pair of Canada Geese flying down the river, honking their beautiful duets in flight, as well as a bald eagle. Nature heals…and this is definitely a healing spot! Catherine and Rick are wonder hosts. We will return.

Camping on the river at Smoky Mountain Mangalitsa Ranch was an absolute dream. The setting is breathtaking—peaceful river sounds, fresh mountain air, and stunning natural beauty everywhere you look. It’s the kind of place where you instantly relax, unplug, and feel reconnected to nature. Waking up beside the river and ending the day under the stars made for an unforgettable experience. What truly made the stay exceptional, though, was the incredible hospitality of Catherine. She was warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Her kindness and attention to detail made us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. You can tell she genuinely cares about her guests and wants them to have a special experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with beautiful scenery and a host who is simply wonderful, this is the place. We left already missing it! Highly, highly recommend.

Absolutely beautiful property! Well maintained campsites with amazing views and plenty of privacy. We stayed at the trout deck and loved every minute of it, only problem was we wish we’d had more time. Catherine and Rick were readily available if needed and otherwise let you enjoy your time. We will be back!

This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever camped. The property is stunning. The river is so peaceful. The animals so charming. Our kids had a blast running wild and being free with the other kids camping. Can’t wait to return.

We spend the last few days on Catherine and Rick’s land and absolutely loved every minute of it!! The waterfront location made it incredibly peaceful, with the sound of the water creating the perfect relaxing atmosphere from morning to night. The site felt private and well cared for, with plenty of space to spread out while still keeping that natural, farm feel. We spent our days relaxing, reading books, and soaking up the sun, and it was the perfect spot to bring our dog, who had just as much fun as we did! You can tell the host really cares about the experience, and it made the whole stay feel special—we’ll definitely be coming back!!

11/10 would recommend. Plenty of sites each with their own unique flavor. Porta-potty distance from campsites differs depending on site location, so inquire ahead if you have someone that needs to go frequently. We had a great conversation in the way out with one of the owners. Just sad we didn’t get a visit from the farm dog Stetson. Will definitely be back again.

The site was beautiful, easy to access, and well maintained. Catherine and Rick were very welcoming. The ranch had plenty of space and it felt like you had the place to yourself even though there were other groups around. We highly recommend it.

Overall: Beautiful property. Many of the sites have some kind of water-a gentle stream to a more rapid-type water. Our site was near the rapid-type and the noise made my sleep amazing. The water sounds combined with the view of the sunlight hitting the green pastures against the mountain backdrop, the grazing animals, and the bird song really lent to such a peaceful joy. The morning visits from sweet Stetson were really just the best icing to it all. Technical: The portable toilets were really well-maintained. The potable water is easily accessible. The expectations were really clear and provided via a paper print-out. Verdict: I'll definitely be returning here.

a wonderful camping weekend

Site 8 Hilltop 4WD
We tent camped at site 8 hilltop. the views from the top were insanely gorgeous. Rick greeted us at check-in and was super friendly. the port-a potty nearest us was very clean. we enjoyed camping next to the cows and walking around the farm to see the pigs, goats, and horses. the drive from the base of the hill to the top was a little scary to drive up the first time, but it wasn’t something our subaru outback in 4WD couldn’t handle. we felt welcomed, safe, and secluded throughout our entire stay. we will 100% be back this summer to swim in the beautiful river that runs through the farm. thank you Catherine and Rick for sharing your magical slice of paradise with us!!!

Love this camp site! One of the best sites I have been to and while we did not get to fully experience it - having to retreat because of severe weather - we will definitely be back! Catherine and Rick are incredibly accommodating and their land is beautiful! Looking forward to returning!

This property is more beautiful than any expectation I had. The hosts were very helpful and communicated well. The views were amazing with spectacular sunset and sunrise from site 8. The four wheel drive requirement is a must. Subaru Outback Wilderness made it look easy. Plenty of room for tents. For my next stay, I’ll bring a popup tent for a little shade. The porta Jon is a bit of a walk but was very clean. The hosts descriptions are very accurate. I strongly recommend this site.

This was the most beautiful, magical weekend! I went with a small group of 3 and we had the absolute best time! The views were amazing and Catherine was so kind and accommodating! Truly one of the greatest places to camp and we will definitely be back!

I had the most amazing stay at this Hipcamp site. From the moment I arrived, I could tell how much care and intention goes into maintaining the property. Everything was incredibly clean and well kept, and the views were absolutely beautiful peaceful, open, and exactly what my soul needed. The hosts were so kind and welcoming. You can really feel that they care about their guests’ experience. I especially appreciated how safe I felt the entire time. As someone who enjoys camping alone, that meant everything to me. It was the perfect getaway to unplug, breathe, and reset. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with stunning views and thoughtful hosts, this is it. I will absolutely be back. 🌿✨
