Near Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Within a 60-minute drive from the Clingmans Dome Visitor Center.
Escape to your own private mountain retreat in the heart of the Smoky Mountains. When you book Private Panoramic Dark Sky Ridge, you receive exclusive access to all 14 acres. There are no neighboring campsites, no shared facilities, and no campground traffic—just you, the mountains, and some of the darkest night skies in the Southeast. Located near the intersection of US-129 and US-19/74, the property borders the Nantahala National Forest and serves as the perfect basecamp for exploring Western North Carolina. Despite its secluded setting, you’re just 8 minutes from the Nantahala River put-in and conveniently located between Robbinsville, Bryson City, Andrews, Murphy, and Wesser. The world-famous Tail of the Dragon is nearby, along with opportunities for hiking, rafting, kayaking, fishing, scenic drives, and outdoor adventure. A mountain creek flows about 300 feet beyond the property boundary on National Forest land, adding to the peaceful setting. Upon arrival, you’ll find a private gravel parking and camping area suitable for tents, camper vans, rooftop tents, and small travel trailers. The site works well for very small travel trailers, teardrops, and Class B camper vans. Large RVs, fifth wheels, and Class A motorhomes are not recommended. A moldering compost privy is conveniently located between the gravel camping area and the start of the trail. A private quarter-mile trail climbs approximately 260 feet through the forest to a spectacular ridge-top overlook. At the summit, you’ll enjoy breathtaking 270-degree panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It’s the perfect place to watch sunrise, sunset, meteor showers, and the Milky Way overhead. The property sits within one of the darkest sky regions in the Southeast, making it ideal for stargazing and astrophotography. On clear nights, thousands of stars fill the sky. Guests may camp in the gravel area, near the trailhead, or at the summit overlook. Regardless of where you choose to set up camp, the entire property is reserved exclusively for your group. If you’re looking for privacy, mountain views, dark skies, and easy access to the best outdoor recreation in Western North Carolina, Private Panoramic Dark Sky Ridge offers a truly unique mountain camping experience.Your reservation includes exclusive access to the entire 14-acre property. There are no neighboring campsites, shared facilities, or other guests during your stay. Guests may choose from three camping locations: • Gravel Camp – Easy vehicle access with room for a large family tent, multiple small tents, camper vans, rooftop tents, and small travel trailers such as teardrops. If you are a pro at maneuvering a trailer I believe an Airstream Basecamps, Scamps, Casitas and similar RVs could be parked at the site. • Trailhead Camp – A secluded wooded campsite near the start of the private hiking trail, suitable for a medium-sized tent. You are welcome to use any of these areas during your stay, but the entire property is reserved exclusively for your group.
