Quiet spot in backyard

I saw some RV’s by the wooded area, but the spot I was assigned was in the immediate backyard behind the house. It was not private or scenic, and felt exposed with another house or barn beside this house. People milling about. I arrived at dusk and was confused with directions to site so sat in the backyard for 15-20 min until finally someone came out.

The whole experience was very nice! Richard was a very helpful kind host and answered any questions I had. The land was beautiful and there was plenty of space to spread out. The other guests staying there were all friendly as well which was nice. Definitely recommend this site and, if I am camping in this area again, I will most likely come back to this site.

Horse Farm Tent Stay

Richard was extremely friendly and a fantastic host. The four kids on our trip absolutely loved the horses and we were able to walk up and pet two of the more friendly curious ones. The property is very old (house built in 1860) and has great farm character while be extremely close to town (8 minutes to food lion). This site has plenty of room to camp and we easily set up two 6 person tents. Nice area with shade for tables, chairs, and fire. Definitely recommend if you need a spot close to Kings Mountain or Crowders. That being said, it is close to a road and the town of Shelby so youre not secluded or noise free by any means. Perfect place to introduce camping to close friends of ours and it is a great spot if you got some littles that are into horses! 10/10 would go back!

This was a wonderful camping site (2), so much nicer than staying at a crowded commercial campground. It was clean, it was quiet. It was perfect for our stay to see king mountain. Best part was our neighbors, doesn’t get better. Thank you

Camping by Ourselves

Up to now, we had only camped at campgrounds (and maybe a Wally World parking lot). It was so nice to have the peace and quiet. I’m going to plan trips like this more. Thanks to my daughter and son-in-law for turning me on to HipCamp. Loved our stay. We will be back soon.

Great place to stay !! If you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of life , relax and enjoy peace and tranquility this is a great place! Bathhouse onsite very friendly folks but not so much to invade your space or privacy. I would definitely recommend to others and would stay here again when I am in the area!!

Not private— but friendly host.

Didn’t feel like it was quite as described. The hosts were very nice with the communications I had with them. But it honestly felt like I was just camping in their backyard, because honestly, I was. I had gathered from the description that it would be more of a secluded area on the farm, but I was a very short distance from their home on site number 2. The renters on site number 1 appeared to live there full time. This may be good for some campers, but it wasn’t right for me. I ended up leaving early and going to a local campground that I had been at before. This was a different experience for me and I’m glad I did it, but for me personally, I will stick to smaller campgrounds. Again, hosts were very friendly, just wasn’t exactly what I had expected and not what I would look for in the future.

4 nights for the 4th.

We stayed for 4 nights for the 4th of July. Finding the property was easy but once we got there, we weren’t sure which site was ours. The sites aren’t numbered and it isn’t clear where the sites are, besides the hook-ups. We had site 1 which is a pull-through, literally you drive a loop around the grass and pull up to the hook-ups. The site is mostly dirt. There were long-term campers at the site behind us and we had family at the other site beside us. All hook-ups worked great. Site was fairly level. Very peaceful place to stay. Horses were friendly, as was Richard. Lots of insects, but that’s to be expected. Trash receptacles were provided but full before our stay ended. Shelby is a short drive for groceries or whatever you need. All-in-all, it was a nice, relaxing place to stay.

Easy peasy and incredibly appeasing

We cannot say enough goodness about Richard and his quaint farm. We made a late drop into Richard’s place and the process couldn’t have been more of a breeze; directions, entrance, and ease of RV setup. Richard met us on his property even when we arrived late and accommodated us with a full service hookup site that was available. My husband enjoyed conversations about his Swedish background and appreciated all the road trip tips he offered. The farm was absolutely GORG and our babies loved seeing the beautiful garden and horses in the morning. What a treat this experience was to start our RV journey out West.

Horses as guests to our RV!

My wife, our two Goldens, and I had a very relaxing Memorial Weekend as quests in Richard and Joy's horse pasture. We had a level site with full hookups for our 37-foot Class A Motorhome. The horses are so comforting to watch. We are coming back. I want to thank Richard for his help in getting my slides in when we had a relay fail we would still be there if he hadn't rescued us. Janet, Emma, Rio, and I highly recommend camping in Richard and Joy's horse pasture.

A beautiful and quiet place to camp. I was on my own for a 3 day weekend. Wanted a peaceful place over a busy holiday weekend. This was it. I loved watching the “dog show” (retrieving) and the “horse parade” (just a couple of horses walking by ;) Richard was lovely; came out to help me park. I misunderstood the site numbers…2 is the closer one to the house. You will be close to your neighbor in #1, but not too close. Site 2 was perfectly level for me!!! That was awesome. (30 ft travel trailer). No shade at this site. But huge shady trees to sit under. Richard offered me a connector 50 to 30 amp, but I had one. That was helpful. Great WiFi. Loved watching the horses! In the country but county roads still have traffic noise. You will hear it on occasion. There is a local speedway you will hear the revving sounds that come with that for short time. Only bothered me till I knew what it was. Caution: could be my inexperience, but dumping was a huge challenge for me. Hose going uphill into the sewer. Didn’t notice that till I was in the process. I tried my hose ramps to no avail. Only issue.

What a great place to relax and unwind. We loved watching the horses and the beautiful sunset. Our site #2 was far enough from any of the other sites to allow us plenty of privacy. We'll be back!

Very peaceful place. The hosts shared that the property used to be a dairy farm from the 1800s. Great to see the horses and the sky was so clear, so we got to see so many stars at night. Richard and Joy are super nice. Our son enjoyed playing on the trampoline. Firewood and a fire pit was conveniently available. We tent camped and had plenty of flat areas to choose from. Not far from Charlotte, so a nice day/night away to disconnect!!
