Hidden Oasis At High Rock Lake

Our campsite was the perfect secluded site and the autumn color around us made it feel cozy. Site three has an opening to the side which allows a great window for stargazing! We loved our short stay!

Quiet tucked away site in the woods. Tight road for larger vehicles (we have a camper van) but doable. Everything was dry when we went so no issues with mud, etc. The site was slopey but not a problem to set up once we found the right area.

Great for traditional tent camping

This is a great spot for tent camping, not far from Lexington or interstate access. The campground name is a little misleading as there is not lake access within walking distance (all private land with no neighborhood access), but there is lake access 10 minutes drive away. The campground itself has lots of tall trees with many birds which was enjoyable and peaceful.

Peaceful, well-equipped spot to camp. We tent camped at site 2 with our dog and had a nice night among the trees. The other campsites are far enough away for privacy, though we definitely enjoyed being the only ones there. The bathroom is clean and the water stations and sink worked perfectly. We asked for some firewood to be left for us and also helpfully received a firestarter cube. There is a little road noise audible at the site, but it's not loud nor frequent.

We had such a great experience at this campground! The sites were clean, well-kept, and easy to access, and the scenery made it the perfect place to relax after a long week. What really stood out, though, were the hosts — they were incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely cared that everyone had a good stay.

Thoughtful oasis

Sandra and Randy have a true oasis offered here. It's rustic and private, yet has the perfect amenities. The pavilion/clubhouse and bathroom have all the extras to make primitive camping a breeze. It was just as advertised and more. We brought kids on a long weekend and had the place to ourselves. It was perfect for so many reasons. They loved having the freedom to move around camp independently. The location is tucked away in a safe area with minimal traffic. Ther are 4 campsites in a small area with a bar/kitchen setup in the middle. The first thought i had was getting 3 of our friends and family to book a long weekend to enjoy each other's company. The camps are far enough apart to not be disturbed, yet close enough to the amenities to fully utilize them. There is ample space to entertain, have a big dinner or play games. We will definitely be back!

Camping with a Toddler

This was such an amazing campground. Space was private. We were easilavle to hang 3 hammocks for overnight camping. The bathroom and shared pavillion space was excellent. We had our toddler with us and yhe added amenities made for extremely comfortable camping. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed the arrangement (multiple tent sites in a wide area) and the accommodations. You can tell they put effort into thinking the layout through. It was really quiet and peaceful. I'll definitely return in the future.

The hipcamp was great. I arrived after dark and took a moment to find Site 2, but it was peaceful and seems much more "pro" than a lot of Hipcamps where you just park next to someone's farm. I did use some blocks for leveling as I just slept in my van I stead of pitching a tent. I would plan to come back next time we're close to Lexington or Salisbury.

Had a great time staying here. It was secluded and private. The other camper was far enough away that it wasn’t a bother even tho we had to share the amenities (kitchen, outdoor shower, toilet). We are definitely going back. My husband enjoyed the new chairs.

Truly a Hidden Oasis

I originally only booked for 2 nights, however we decided to extend our stay for an extra night! Sandra met us at the campsite for check in and welcomed us to make ourselves at home. She had our safety in mind and made sure to remind us of the extreme temperature of the hot water. Always put cold on first. She was responsive and solved the burnt out bulb in the community center quickly. My husband and I stayed at campsite 3 it has the most tree coverage, so I highly recommend bug spray, and ensure you be careful for ticks. We stayed during the weekday vs a weekend, so we had the place to ourselves! It was extremely peaceful and quiet. Only the birds, frogs, and crickets. It truly was a hidden oasis. We will be booking again the next time we come to NC. The tent space for our 8 person tent easily. But I would much bigger than that. Lol. We chose to purchase the firewood and it was ready and wait for us at the campsite when we arrived. They even included a fire starter! There was enough firewood for at least 3 cooking fires, we even had some left over! The zero gravity chairs were very comfortable and the picnic table gave us a place to sit and eat, or play card games at the campsite. The bathroom and shower area is small, but kept clean, and well cared for. My husband and I took advantage of the community area corn hole set up, as well as the fridge and coffee maker! The available sink made it easy to do dinner dishes as well. Highly recommend this camp ground.

Truly a Hidden Oasis

Originally, I only booked for 2 nights. However we decided to extend for an extra day! My husband and I stayed at camp site 3, and loved every bit of it. Since we were staying through the week, instead of the weekend, we were the only ones there! It was amazingly peaceful. A break we definitely needed. We will absolutely be booking again in the future. The quiet of just the nature around us was perfect. When we checked in Sandra met us down at the campsite and encouraged us to make ourselves at home. We felt welcomed and encouraged to truly act as if at home. Sandra was responsive when I messaged her, and fixed the light in the kitchen area when I noticed it was burnt out. The amenities were nice. There were some extra pots and pans, a coffee maker, ice trays in the freezer. As well as a corn hole setup in the community center. There is also a dart board, and radio! the bathroom and shower area were clean and well cared for. Although I do believe the batteries in the bathroom light need to be changed. It did not work for our stay. As noted in the listing, the hot water gets HOT fast! For once in my life, I had to turn on cold water for my shower!!! Sandra had our safety in mind and ensured we knew about the hot water when she spoke to us at check in. We ordered a bundle of firewood, and a fire starter was included with it as well. The wood burned well we didn't even need to use it all so there is enough to do at least 3 fires for cooking.

The campground was great. Easy access to High Rock Lake activities. The camping sites have plenty of space between them, but you can also see your neighbors across the way. The communal fridge at the pavilion was very very convenient and the hosts are friendly and helpful.

A true wooded oasis!

Randy and Sandra are so very welcoming and warm and very quick to any messages. It felt like home away from home. 😊The outdoor bar is so relaxing and cozy to hang out at after dark with all the soft glowy lights around it. The perfect way to spend a summer night. Me and husband and our dog so deeply enjoyed our stay here. We both felt recharged and truly relaxed and refreshed after our stay. It was very clean and quiet and comfortable. We loved how far the campsites were spread out we couldn't hardly see the other campers and we loved that its smaller campground and less people you feel very secluded especially at site 3 we thought. We loved loved lived site 3. It was set back and up a little grassy knoll. The stone firepits with cooking grates and chairs really made it the most comfortable camping experience I've ever had. Definitely reccomend just buying wood here you get a GOOOD sized bundle of wood! The outdoor shower is so refreshing. I swear I felt cleaner and more refreshed than my own shower at home. Something about a Lush green canopy of trees overhead is extra cleaning feeling. We had a really hard time leaving and wished we could have stayed longer. If we're ever passing through this area we will 100% stay here again and reccomend anyone to book here.

We had an amazing weekend at Hidden Oasis! The property is beautiful, it is obvious that so much effort has been put in to make it a great camping site! The bathroom and pavilion were great luxuries. We hope to come back in the spring and bring our friends!

Nice Woodsy Seclusion

Great secluded camping. Was holding down campground but sites nicely parted out with good little bathhouse and pavilion. Nothing but the sound of nature through the night. Hosts were great and look forward to return trip.

It’s a nice little spot with good amenities but the title of primitive campsite is misleading. We were 30 ft away from the other campsite that used generators and played music loudly. Which is fine, but if if you think primitive means privacy. This is not the place.

Camping under the tall trees

The camp and our site was great. I think all 4 are a great choice. Only site 1 and 3 are suitable for camper vans like class B's. Driveway to site 1 is tight with close trees so just be mindful. It was very peaceful and we had great campfires each night. There is also a cool hangout pavilion as well.

I wonderful place to stay for the weekend that was super dog friendly! The host are super welcoming to any questions and if you need anything! The common space is nice with a fridge to keep food cold. It was great to be able to have the option to buy fire wood from them and it was at the sight when we arrived.
