Campers can expect a welcoming atmosphere at this campground, thanks to the attentive and responsive host, Connie. The site is well-equipped with thoughtful touches like citronella candles, fire rings, grills, and even a game box for outdoor activities. It's strategically located close to beaches, lakes, parks, shopping, and dining, making it a convenient base for exploring the area. However, some campers have noted issues with ant activity, particularly for tent campers, which is something to be aware of.
Connie is an absolutely wonderful host. She makes sure that her campers are well taken care of. She's very attentive and very responsive.
I love the campground and how it's set up. She has citronella candles and little knick knacks sitting there waiting for you on your picnic bench as well as the fire rings and grills. I had Verizon 5G consistently. She has it well decorated and it's very comfy and inviting. I will continue to return because it's a great value close to the beaches, the lakes, parks, shopping and food.
Most of the campgrounds these days are now catering mostly to the RVs (especially residential stays) and only providing a couple of spots for tents with cars. I'm so glad to find a place like this where I don't feel like I don't belong.

This is my second time staying at the site. Excellent experience just like the first time. The host is awesome and the property is just as wonderful. Makai Brewery and Butcher/Deli are just a mile down the road. It’s a good spot.
We had such a wonderful experience at this campsite! Everything was very clean and it had everything you could possibly ask for at a campsite including picnic table, firewood, outdoor shower, a grill, tents and even eggs sold by the 1/2 dozen that are so delicious!! Connie was absolutely amazing and so helpful with anything we needed! She truly went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay and felt comfortable.
We highly recommend this campsite and will definitely be coming back! 🏕️❤️
This was a lovely spot and host interactions were lovely but unfortunately I would not recommend this site for tent camping due to the extreme ants. We stayed only one night and in the morning, I had ants swarming my vehicle. I opened the door frames and hundreds of ants at each frame. They got in the car and were coming out of vents and dashboard/infotainment area. I spent a significant amount of time the next morning washing my car and repeatedly vacuuming the car to get them out.
Afterward, I noticed the host’s information specifically tells trailer campers to spray their undercarriages, tires and supports with outdoor ant spray before arriving, so ant activity at the property appears to be a known concern but there was no comparable warning for tent campers. Had I known the ants could be this severe, I would not have booked the site for a tent.
I of course understand that insects are part of camping, and I wouldn’t leave a negative review over ordinary ants. This was well beyond what I would consider normal campground insect activity, and I think future tent campers should be aware before booking. Hosts should take steps to minimize before renting this space.
We had an amazing stay and would absolutely come back! The campsite was peaceful, well-maintained, and thoughtfully set up. One feature we really loved was the "Game Box" filled with outdoor activities. We didn't bring our daughter this trip, but we know she would have had a blast with all the games and activities available.
The location was another huge plus—it was only about 15 minutes from Ocean Isle Beach, which made it easy to enjoy the coast while still having a quiet, relaxing place to stay. I would highly recommend this camping suite to both solo campers and families looking for a comfortable and enjoyable outdoor getaway.
We're already looking forward to coming back for another visit!
Connie’s Hipcamp was very clean, well organized and even had a game box! The location convenient to go to either Sunset or Ocean Aisle or to town for any supplies needed or fun beach day activities. They even left a goodie bag with dog treats and recommendations on fun activities to do. I’d recommend this spot and would love to come back. A little noise from the highway and also beware of the Sasquatch ;).
There is also a donkey near by, while it may sound like someone yelling rest assured he is probably saying hi to a friend
I loved our evening at this site. It was very peaceful and so convenient for our travels. There was a peaceful trail that we enjoyed taking loops in the evening to relax and unwind. The host was very nice and responsive. I will definitely stay here again the next time we pass through.
Nice setup for camping. We were alone in our camp loop, but the sites were well spaced apart for privacy. Little touches like the umbrella, a BBQ area, and Connie making an appearance with a sweet welcome gift made it feel like a home away from home. Reminded me of living on a farm, with a donkey braying and roosters crowing at the start of each day. Overall, would recommend for quick trips, travel stop for rest. Easy directiions and not far from stores for supplies.
I came here in early November and wound up extending my stay twice because we enjoyed it so much. Connie and Jeff have a beautiful well maintained piece of property with plenty of level ground for the camper. There were several trails I explored with my pets and plenty of wood for fires at night. Plus only a 15 minute drive to the beach. It felt very private and safe the whole time I was there. I hope to be back someday!
Wow! What an awesome, peaceful and secluded, but still close to everything spot! For off-griders, this was perfect for us! And Connie was a pleasure to work with! Definitely recommend!
Connie is a lovely host with a tidy, spacious property!
Connie went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable at our site and helped us with our beach day needs. The site was LARGE with trees dividing us from the next site, picnic table, charcoal grill, and a little trail in the back. Would recommend to anyone looking to go to the coast on a budget. Thanks again, Connie!
***if you’re sensitive to noise while sleeping, this might not be the place for you given its close to a busy road.
Camp is great and well kept. Lots of space and very private but still close to anything and everything you could want. It's close to the beach so of course it's going to be hot and humid with mosquitos so be prepared if you have a tent in the hot months!
Site 8 was perfect for our long weekend beach trip to OIB! Wanted to save money but still wanted to come on the family vacation, so instead of missing out we decided to camp at Connies! We put up our hammocks up & the breeze was perfect enough to sleep even during the hot days. Just wear your sunscreen ;)
Great spot and only 15 minutes from Sunset Beach! Very clean and hospitable with a picnic table, umbrella, charcoal grill and a nice fire pit.
