I took my daughter and her best friend on a 2 day camping trip at Would Knot and got so much more than I expected.
The owner Doug and his girlfriend Val were so awesome, generous and kind. The weather was cold and much wetter than I had anticipated so they allowed us to use the large camper on their land which had a double bed and a couch for sleeping which was great since we had a tent, hammock and the back of the car for our original sleeping arrangements.
There is an outhouse but we used the toilet in the camper at night. Plenty of wood for the fire available. Horses were beautiful and my daughter and her friend spent as much time as they wanted petting them and were allowed to feed them carrots as well.
Thanks Doug and Val. Your land is amazing and we can’t wait to come back again to see you and the horses. The girls had a great time in spite of the rainy cold weather and enjoyed the combined barbecue that you so gratefully shared. Oh and thanks for the coffee and home baked warm zucchini bread. Such a nice trip with awesome people.

Overall, it was a nice stay!
We were the only ones there and it was quiet. The host was kind and helpful. We camped in the rear of his property and there wasn't a toilet--just a medical chair and a bucket. Would've been uncomfortable with others present, but we just dug holes when needed--glad we brought those supplies! They might have different accomodations in their backyard. We were fine without, but just changed the experience.

Doug and Valerie went above and beyond as hosts! From escorting us to the campsite, loaning us supplies from their own home, and introducing us to the birthday horse Illusion, we had a wonderful experience. Thank you again!

The hosts were incredibly nice and friendly! They met me as I pulled in and showed me where everything was, had a map of the trails next to their land for me since I mentioned hiking, and in the morning got me a kettle of water for tea, took me to meet the horses, and left cookie on my car after I got back from the trails! They were lovely to talk to, and I wish I'd had more time to stay and explore.
I was coming from Indiana in mid December and arrived after dark because of the long drive, so they even offered for me to stay in their camper rather than put up my tent in the dark.
I would definitely recommend for anyone passing through or stopping by for a longer trip.

The hosts are very friendly and even invited us to a fire for their sister’s birthday! The pear pie was delicious! The site was clean and well kept. Nice and relaxing stay!

Wow, best campsite and hike I've had on a very long cross country adventure. Mind you my adventure was in the winter, not sure how the summer is, but if you don't mind the cold. I highly recommend in January!

Would Knot - The Back Yard
Douglas the host gives superb directions to the camp and is very responsive via text to any questions.
He met us at the driveway and took us to the camping area. We had it to ourselves.
He has an interesting collection of items along the way to the campsite but the camping area is nice and remote.
Playful horses are nearby and the property backs onto large state parks with many trails. Map Provided. A welcoming beer and help in turning my travel trailer around were much appreciated. Restrooms are basic pit toilets. Host does make this clear on listing. If you need a little more luxury it's worth bringing your own.
The best bit: It's very dark and very quiet!

We enjoyed our overnight stay in the woods on G Douglas' land. "Doug" was very accommodating and the view of the Milky Way in the clearings was magnificent. A word to the wise, it is primitive just as it says in the listing and that was fine with us.

Our stay at Would Knot was just what we needed! The provided GPS coordinates were right on point. Our host Douglass greeted us at the entrance to the driveway and led us to our spot for the night. The driveway back to the campsites was easy to navigate in our extended-length campervan, and we were quickly settled into our site.
There are a few sites to choose from in the Piney Woods. All the sites are pretty level and work great for tents and campervans! There are a few firepits throughout the area, a food prep/washing up station, and a private bucket toilet for campers. There is also an outhouse and rainwater shower up by the house. Just past the campsites, there is access to the trails that run all through the state forest.
If you want to be in the woods with a quiet site to relax, then we recommend Would Knot!

Would Knot - The Back Yard
Doug's property was very cool and rustic. We camped all alone in the woods and had a great time. If you want power you must stay up near the house we had a portable air conditioner but luckily it was cool enough to not need it. His property butts right up to state land. It's very quiet back there! I would say it's rustic camping pet friendly as well! It's also pretty close to town.

At first I was apprehensive about Would Knot….it’s very remote and I was traveling in a camper van alone with my pup. After a good night sleep and getting to know Doug better it was a perfect stop in my travels and he tipped me off to the gem of Letchworth! Well worth my detour! He was very accommodating including offering fresh water, veggies from his garden and a piece of yummy zucchini bread for the road.

Great little spot hidden away in the woods. Saw lots of frogs, bear prints, and mushrooms which is great for the nature lovers. The trail was a little overgrown so I didn't make it all the way to the swimming hole (I was camping alone and didn't want to get lost), but it was still a beautiful few miles.

I can’t say nicer things about Douglas’s place! Everything about this site is just lovely, and Douglas was a wonderful host. The space is beautiful and very quiet, while also being about a 20 minute drive to nearby towns. Douglas was so welcoming and helpful, it was a real pleasure to stay here.

We had a great time on Dougs land! He was very accommodating and knowledgeable. We came at a slow time of year so we were the only ones camping and it was awesome! We had enough wood to keep the fire burning all night and overall it was a great time. We spent the next day at Letchworth which was about 50 minutes out, but on our way back to Buffalo. 10/10.

Camp Would Knot did not disappoint!! The fall foliage was amazing, trails in the forest are right off the property! Plenty of beautiful scenery and a private tranquil camping experience.

Mr. Clark an his sweetie were amazing hosts! I went with my 3 and 6 year old children. They had a blast playing around the camp and on the hammocks! The "sort-a-jon" was all that it needed to be. Mr. Clark even gave the kids and I a guided walk around the property amd the kids said it was thier favorite part with "Mr. Outdoor Wild Man"! I encourage anyone who sees this camp to go ahead and book it. You wont be dissapointed.

Doug was just the sweetest man!
We mentioned going to the shuets and then a few minutes later he came by with little sacks so we could slide in! (Be aware though, there are MANY leeches at the shuets)
He checked in on us throughout the day and made sure we were comfortable.
The site was well maintained and secluded.
I'm not big on camping because I'm a city girl, but this trip may have changed that.

Doug and Valerie were kinder and more welcoming than we could have imagined. In addition to a beautiful, peaceful campsite with so much to explore by foot or a short drive away, they provided anything we needed (along with some delicious homemade treats). We felt like we were leaving with two new friends and we already look forward to returning.

We had a great weekend away at Would Knot! It was a 4hr drive for us to get over there, but definitely worth it! Doug was more than we expected in a host as this was our first hip camp.
He has an excellent set up in a private area in the woods, to relax and listen to the sound of the woods. Trails to hike are just steps away from the tent sites. There are two options for bathroom facilities he has a nice "family style" outhouse that gave us a good chuckle, and a more primitive option right at the site. There are even canvas tents with awnings, tables and chairs to use during your stay! We had a few rain showers so they definitely came in handy.
It's also a very pet friendly site, with some resident cats. Our 4 pups loved running around and rolling in the pine needles.
We'll definitely be returning!

Staying here was awesome. The hosts were very knowledgable about the area and a pleasure to talk with. Samuel the camp kitty checked in on us regularly. We had the pleasure of receiving a freshly baked loaf of zucchini bread and jar of bread and butter pickles from the hosts that were so delicious. Thank you for sharing your piece of heaven with us and we look forward to returning again soon.

Primitive camping at its finest. This place is backed right up to a state park and the woods are absolutely gorgeous! You can walk the trails forever and it’s absolutely refreshing. The swimming hole a few miles down was a lot of fun to visit and we slid down the rock chutes which was so much fun! The hosts were so kind and took us on a really fun stroll to feed the horses and see their amazing property which pleased us and the kids beyond belief. You have the option to stay in your own tent or stay in their tent haven they’ve created. We will absolutely be back!

We had a great time staying at Would Knot. The hosts were very accommodating and welcoming. Great place for exploring the nature or just sitting around a firepit to relax. Plenty of state forests around for hiking.

Lots of friendly cats roaming around and horses too. Friendly hosts were there when you needed them but were never intrusive. They also knew some good secret swimming spots.
