Escape to Crane's Camp, a peaceful retreat in the heart of Upstate New York. Surrounded by natural beauty and open space, this quiet campsite offers the perfect place to relax, reconnect with nature, and enjoy the outdoors. Spend your days exploring the surrounding countryside, fishing, hiking, or simply unwinding by the campfire. As evening falls, take in beautiful sunsets, star-filled skies, and the tranquility of a true escape. Whether you're looking for a weekend getaway or a convenient stop on your travels, Crane's Camp offers a simple, scenic camping experience where you can slow down and enjoy the beauty of New York's outdoors.Escape to a private 16-acre wooded property just 3 miles from Saranac Lake, with private access to the scenic Saranac River. Enjoy an Adirondack camping experience with plenty of room to spread out, explore, and relax. Your reservation includes exclusive use of the property—only one camping group is booked at a time. Base rate includes parking for one camper or one tent. Additional tents and vehicles can often be accommodated upon request. This is a rustic camping experience. There are no RV hookups, water, or Wi-Fi. An outhouse is available for guest use. While there is no campsite electrical service, guests may use a standard outlet at the utility meter near the entrance for charging phones, batteries, and small devices. Guests are welcome to explore the property's network of trails and pathways throughout the 16 acres. **Camping Options** **Riverside Tent Site** Located along the Saranac River, this traditional campsite includes: * 2 Adirondack chairs * Metal fire cauldron * Closest access to outhouse * Undeveloped land across the water All fires must be contained within the fire cauldron. Open ground fires are not permitted, and fires must never be left unattended. The riverside site is accessed by a rugged road. Small and midsize vehicles with AWD or 4WD are recommended. **Open Clearing for RVs & Larger Campers** A spacious clearing near the entrance offers easy access for RVs, trailers, larger campers. Includes a picnic table and is a 1–2 minute walk to the river and outhouse. **Woodland Trail Sites** Guests seeking added privacy may choose one of several grassy, shaded clearings along the connected trail system, nestled among the trees. **A Note About Location** The property is off Route 3, a main Adirondack corridor. The riverside campsite is heavily wooded but there will be traffic noise. The owners live across the road and are available if assistance is needed. Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash, especially near the upper property by the entrance and roadway. Please place all trash and recyclables in the designated bin at the entryway before departure. The property offers flexibility to create your own Adirondack camping experience.

We had a great time hanging by the river for our fishing trip. Caught bass right in front of the site. Good location for fishing and hiking.

Off the beaten path.

15 ft rooftop tent

Calm waters, peaceful and pleasant little camping spot. Abundance of firewood for the taking and nice little walking trails for early morning walks. Moose pond is to the left and a 3 minute walk. Easy hike to moose pond. Which I highly suggest going to see. Great time!

This property was extremely peaceful. It was so nice to have this gorgeous property all to ourselves. We were there for three nights. Our son walked most of it. In case you’re wondering, the fishing is decent from this spot. We caught several including two nice small mouth bass. The hosts were very thoughtful in laying out various locations at which you can choose to camp. We recommend the riverside location. We used the site as our base camp for adventures to Bog River Falls, SUP’ing at Moose Pond, and taking in the gorgeous views at Saranac Lake and beyond. There was plenty of room to park our 19’ camper van and to set up a 10x10 canopy with sidewalls for our gear. The outhouse was clutch and very clean. This was our first time to the Adirondacks and the host was extremely responsive and had great recommendations for places to eat and places to visit. 5 stars - highly recommend. Stop searching and book it. Also, experienced campers know this but take lots of quality punk sticks with you. You’re camping in the woods on the water in the Adirondacks - there will be bugs and quality punk sticks are effective. The host has a great bug attractant light but the punk sticks and good spray will go the extra mile.

This was a perfect campsite for me and my boyfriend. We chose the site by the river. Mornings were amazing with the sunrise. I’d definitely recommend as it’s just outside of town.

We had a fantastic stay here. Marnie was incredibly friendly and welcoming, meeting us when we arrived and showing us the different campsite options around the property. There are several spots to choose from depending on whether you want to be closer to the road or tucked away in the woods. We picked the site by the river, and it was absolutely worth it. The views were beautiful, and the site felt private, peaceful, and surprisingly well protected from the rain and wind that rolled through during our stay. The outhouse was close by, there was plenty of dry wood for a campfire, and we really enjoyed taking the canoe out on the river. What we liked most was how the property feels remote enough to give you that true camping experience, while still being close enough to town if you need groceries or want to grab a bite to eat. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish, and we'd happily stay here again.
