The Red Mills Road Wooded Site
Amazing camping spot pulled out car right in set up our tents and had a great time around the fire. Also the trail down to the river was beautiful!

Wow where to start? I just got back from an amazing weekend. I was the only camper on the property this weekend so had free rein to roam. The property is gorgeous, trails well maintained and marked. The site itself Dwaarkill was amazing! Right next to the creek so such a calming sound all weekend. The meadow next to the site was super nice to look over as well. Tom the camp host was super gracious and helpful throughout my stay. He brought me wood to burn, came by for a chat and is a really nice guy. Only heard the farm next door once or twice - Really felt very desolate while not being far from the city at all. Cannot wait to come back it was an amazing weekend!

This is one of the most beautiful places I've seen in New York. I am an avid off-grid camper and survivalist from east to west coast in this little plot of land with this gorgeous bend River. If something Bob Ross would paint. The catone of Walden is dreamy

The Red Mills Road Wooded Site
Great, the site was easy to find just as described. It was quiet and had a nice fire pit. There was a hiking trail easily accessible from the site.

SITE IS NOT AT ALL AS ADVERTISED AND HOST IS INCREDIBLY RUDE!
3 friends and I (4 people total) booked this site after ALL of us checked the website and site map thoroughly. We called before booking to ask if we could bring our dogs since the site mentioned a no pet policy. The host said the dogs would be allowed in our case, no further info was given, and we proceeded to book.
Once we arrived, we realized the site was a bit of a walk. Not usually a problem for us- we've been backpacking/camping all over the country for many years and are very outdoors-seasoned. However, this time we had tons of food with us, 2 large bundles of wood, and lots of sleeping supplies since the temperature was going to dip to 30 degrees at night. Once we began the walk, we realized that not only was it a 20 minute walk through the woods, there was a river that we would need to traverse to get there. The only way across was by walking ONE BY ONE over a SINGLE PLANK OF WOOD. This was physically impossible to do with the bundles of wood that we purchased (from the host himself). In order to get all of our gear across, we would need to make at least 4 trips. We tried calling the host 10 times and did not get a response. We had no choice but to leave and scramble to book something else. 4 hours later (after we were forced to start our 2.5 hour drive home), the host finally called me back, condescendingly laughed at me and refused to refund us.

Great car camping, with views not unlike a dream in fall. Helpful and responsive host. It's more expensive than area state parks, with less infrastructure (yay!) and more privacy.

We were grateful to have found this place! Relieved to have found a campsite that was in a great location and easily accessible from Minnewaska but we were on our own in a private site. In the RV site you do hear some cars on the road that's close by but nothing that drastically impacts your stay

I loved my stay at Hemlock Ridge! It was serene, quiet and beautiful surrounded by the sounds of nature, the creek babbling below, and the lush autumn foliage. After a brief but energetic hike (and traversing the Dwaar Kill creek, which felt like an adventure) I was greeted by the sweet little campsite, which had been kindly cleared out of fallen leaves. There was plenty of room for a solo camper to spread out, and I enjoyed taking a day hike to admire my peaceful surroundings. Tom thoughtfully stopped by to check on me, and I had a great time building a fire and watching the full moon rise over the hills. I would love to come back!

River Bend Overlook
Really lovely spot for camping. The platform and fire pit were great to give us a bit of separation from the tent. It’s a bit of a walk in (really not far) which my younger kid was not enthralled by, so just for note if you have younger kids. Near enough to everywhere to get food and supplies. Would definitely recommend.

Exactly as described. Parking was easy, beautiful walk out to the campsite. Tom provided a wagon to help us carry our firewood/gear to the site. He met us on the trail when we arrived and was a kind host. Campsite was beautiful next to the river. Looking forward to coming back!

We loved tent camping for our anniversary at Heron Cove!! The weather was great for the first couple days, so we had no problem hiking everything out to our site, but I’d definitely recommend packing light and bringing a wagon if you need it, since the muddy patches can be tough. Our last day we did have some pretty big rainstorms and decided to head out since the water was approaching the level of the bridge, but Tom hiked out early that morning and gave us a heads up and let us know our options, so we weren’t worried. He was a kind and informative host, and made sure we had everything we needed for a great stay. We brought several tarps to keep everything dry, and made sure we had good light sources with headlamps/lanterns so everything went pretty smoothly. We found a great swimming/shower spot (no nudity) under a huge tree that was delightful! Talked to some of the other campers when we were in the parking lot, but otherwise didn’t really hear/see anyone the whole time, which we loved. And side note, there’s good service and a town really close by, so no worries if you forgot something or need to check in. Thanks for a great trip, Tom — can’t wait to come back!

River Bend Overlook
It was a very wet day when we arrived at River Bend Overlook and we were happy to be at the site that had a platform we could set up on. The access was pretty easy and the view of the river was great. Although it is private it is not far enough away from the road to feel truly secluded. We explored the other sites that are further in, and those definitely are more secluded. Just have to weigh out what works best for you/your gear. The land is beautiful both within the acres of Tom's place and surrounding towns. Tom responded to questions asked before our trip and when we arrived right away and I got the sense he truly cares about the land and the people who come to visit.

Camping at Riverbend Falls was fantastic! The site was very peaceful and very well maintained. The surrounding woodland is absolutely beautiful. The host kept in excellent communication and provided clear directions. I definitely plan to camp there again in the future.

Absolutely blown away with this spot. Everything we could have wanted and more!! Secluded, spacious, clean and just overall a great vibe. The instructions were easy to follow, the firewood was exactly where it was suppose to be and everything went smoothly. Tom also popped over to introduce himself and make sure we had everything we needed which was much appreciated. We will definitely be back and recommending this spot to friends and family!

We loved camping here! The directions were clearly written and the short hike to the camp was enjoyable. We saw tons of deer and chipmunk! Listening to the running water while we camped was super peaceful and tons of interesting birds and wildlife noises, we would definitely camp here again!

Truly a beautiful camp site that is private, well-maintained and with warm & welcoming hosts. We met Tom on arrival and he provided a helpful overview of the property. His advice to travel light should be heeded as it’s a 25-30 minute hike in but it’s worth the effort with sweeping river views, beautiful tree cover, and lots of wildlife.

The campsite was close to the water and that was lovely. There was a lot of thorns nearby and the campsite is prone to flooding if you’re experiencing quite a bit of rain so prepare ahead of time
