Caywood is a beautiful, peaceful open air cabin with incredible views of Seneca lake. The wildlife is a joy to watch and listen to. My husband and I loved seeing the stars from the cabin and waking to the sounds of nature. It was a privilege to meet Bill the owner and to share his paradise for the weekend. I cant say enough about his place. A nice walk to his private area on the lake. Will definitely be back, maybe a weekend earlier in October. Thanks for your hospitality!

Caywood Lakeside Campsite
Our trip to Bill’s campsite was nothing short of magical. The location is awesome with dozens of wineries before and after the site on the main road, but the site itself is secluded so you have all of this private land to yourself; we came with our Shiba and she she was beside herself coming from a small NYC apt. There’s a private bathroom with shower a short walking distance away from the site in Bill’s house. During our 3 night stay, we considered leaving the property but there’s so much to do you don’t even need to. Instead, we took a short walk to the private beach, set up our hammock and fishing rods and spent most of our days there. The walk can be steep and its layered with loose rocks so wear your hiking boots. We very much enjoyed our stay and are thankful to Bill for sharing his land with us for the weekend. We will be back next Summer to enjoy the lake for sure!

Bill is an amazing host! Campsite is a very private, scenic area. The pictures don't do it justice! It has beautiful views of the lake and a good spot to watch the sunset. The porch is a cute cozy place to take in the picturesque landscape. This is a rare opportunity to spend some well needed time to be with nature and take in some breathtaking views.
We had a wonderful stay and hope to be back soon.

We LOVED our stay with Bill at Caywood Lake. Bill is a gracious, kind and accommodating host. We arrived (late) to find that Bill left lights on to guide us, potable water, and charcoal/all the things we’d need for a grill which was so thoughtful and beyond what we expected.
The property is stunning and this time of year we were delighted to see the trees turning and the water warm. The cabin itself is wonderful and has everything we needed for a private weekend getaway.

AMAZING!! Beautiful views. Such a unique camping experience sleeping in the screened cabin. Bill had coffee for us in the bathroom ares. No complaints!

Bill was a very nice person! We loved the camp set up. It had so many things already in place, including wood, cooking tools, even the rock fire pit was in the shape of a heart. The hike down to the lake was beautiful, clear waters and a great dock! We would absolutely stay again!

We spent 3 nights here and loved every minute of it, so much so that we booked another trip up before we left. This was perfect for our 2 dogs & 3 years. The structure will well appointed and spacious and the views are beautiful. The hike to the lake is steep but fun and so worth it. Can’t wait to come back!!

This was a great place to stay at overnight! The view of the lake was beautiful and the grounds were well kept. You can decide to stay in the screened house or set up a tent. There was fire pit and two portable stove grills available with firewood and charcoal available to you as well. Grilling/cooking utensils were also available to you. Bill was super friendly and welcoming. If I had stayed longer, I would have definitely used the kayak/canoes that were available. The walk to the lake is just about 5 minutes away. I would come here again and highly recommend anyone to come stay here if they wanted to go away for a weekend, and even check out the wonderful waterfall views of Watkin Glens State Park!

What a precious cottage/shack situation! There is no insolation or glass windows (just screens) so bring a warm blanket and a sweater.
Bill is accommodating and kind. Such a pleasant host! He allowed my friends to come hang out by the lake for a day which made the trip. Bill is very helpful and open to sharing local places and activities one may enjoy.
Property is well kept with breathtaking views and private access to the lake. The trail to the water is steep and rocky but not too long. The walk back up is a cardio workout! Bring water shoes for the rocks in the lake! The rocks at shore are slippery and large but once you swim out it’s just a little seaweed and pristine, clear, fresh, amazingness. You have access to use all of Bills water toys and life jackets in the shed by the water.
Toilet and shower are in the basement of the main house, a stone throw away from the cottage. Prime location right on the Seneca wine trail and minutes from lots of outdoor fun.

Bill's campsite was the most beautiful and serene location for the perfect weekend trip. He was a wonderful host and was so accommodating. The cottage was the perfect size and he even provided some basic amenities like bottled water and candles that was a nice touch. The cottage was located behind his house and had a lot of privacy - highly recommend this site. Thank you for the wonderful stay, Bill. We would love to return and camp under the stars again soon!

Our family of six (2 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs) has done a ton of Hipcamp this summer, visiting about 10 sites. This site was hands down the best place we stayed at. It was amazing. The pictures are amazing and they don’t even do it justice. Bill was a delight, extremely helpful (especially when we got lost on the very very simple trek to the beach but we can’t follow instructions) and very kind. We were in awe of his property and the area in general and he was happy to give us his time and chat. The beach is quite a trek from the campsite, but so so worth it. We had to carry both of our kids down to the beach because it was steep and our backs hurt and we didn’t care because the lake front area was just heavenly. We spent eight straight hours down there and probably could have stayed longer. It’s been two weeks since our trip and we haven’t stopped talking about it. Thank you Bill!

My partner, son and I had a magical few days at Bills little oasis. We loved the screened in porch carrying a breeze from Lake Seneca in a particularly hot few days. The walk down to the lake is short but steep but we’ll worth the climb for access to his kayaks, and dock for swimming. Kayaking at Lake Seneca at sunset is truly magical. With access to hot coffee and a hot shower (and mini fridge) it felt like the ultimate glamping experience. The surrounding area was perfect. We were a quick walk to several award winning wineries and a quick drive to so many amazing state parks where we experienced the unique and beautiful gorges such as Watkins Glen. I can’t wait to return again soon!

Bill's campsite and property is absolutely stunning. It was everything we needed. Bill greeted us when we arrived and we had a nice conversation where he clearly explained how to get to the lake and where everything was. An excellent host!
The porch was the perfect shelter from the rain and was such a treat to wake up in every morning. The site feels very private though it is just a short distance to the bathroom and shower. His little slice of lake front felt especially private! Swimming in Seneca lake in August was such a treat! (If you own water shoes you should consider bringing them, there are a fair amount of zebra muscles.) The location cannot be beat! We were planing to spend the trip swimming and wine tasting but when we got to the site we didn't want to leave to go to any wineries! On day three it rained the entire afternoon and we finally got out to visit a few wineries. I highly recommend going to Silver Thread, the winery closest to Bill's house! The sunsets over the lake were incredible. We camped during the full moon and it was so bright at night - no need for flashlights. Watching the sun set and the moon beams roll in over this pasture by the lake for a few nights made me feel so complete and utterly at peace. We hope to return!

Couldn’t have asked for a better stay on Bill’s property. The entire property is amazing as is Bill himself. He was a gracious host from the second we pulled in until we departed. Despite it being 95 degrees, Lake Seneca, Bill’s shaded lakefront and the collection of canoes/kayaks/row boats kept us cool and happy campers. He’s also only a short drive to Watkins Glen, Ithaca and the best wineries so a perfect jumping off site to all things FLX. Looking forwarded to heading back one day soon and thank you Bill!

We loved our stay! We only wish we could have booked it for longer. Definitely check out the winery next door - we really enjoyed our library tasting. One thing we would recommend is bringing a mattress topper if you have it. We found the bed to be a little uncomfortable. Other than that everything was perfect! The fresh cut cedar for our nightly fires was a nice touch. We will be back!

This place is amazing! It is so wonderful to have a campsite with private dock access, kayaks, and a private bathroom. During our stay, we booked another weekend so that we could come back soon. Bill was a great host and gave us a tour of the site and provided us with a jug of water and firewood. The property is a paradise. The only small downside is the bathroom wasn’t very clean and the porch wasn’t bug proof (there were some holes in the screen). But the rest of the stay and property outshined these small things. Would definitely recommend.

Caywood campsite is truly unique. Secluded but picturesque. My son and I headed right for the water when we set up camp. A remote area of the lake led to big smallmouth bass catches. The site itself is secluded but a short walk to a toilet and shower. The host gave us our distance but was happy to chat when we were. We will be back!

Our family of 4 loved everything about our weekend away at Caywood Lakefront Campsite. The views are spectacular and we enjoyed birdwatching in the meadow from the porch of the cabin. The private beach was lovely and we were even lucky enough to spot a Bald Eagle while we were swimming. Our 4 & 6 yro had no problems walking up and down the hill to the lake.

This is such a great little getaway. Beautiful private camp with a screen tent and queen size air mattress. Bill provided us with almost everything except food. There's access to a private beach with a great view of lake Seneca along with 2 kayaks and a canoe. It's about a 15 min walk from the camp site and quite steep at points so def wear sneakers going down BUT ITS TOTALLY WORTH IT! Our dog Leo loved being off the leash too, nice change up from the leash city life.
