We arrived for a week long stay ready for a quiet get away without other campers present. Besides the rooster and occasional car, it was quiet and peaceful. (You’re camping, a distant rooster at 8am shouldn’t be a bother!) Just off the road, the main campsite is private enough for most. It is located a short drive away from Franconia notch, Crawford notch, a bunch of the 4000s, the cog railway, and a scenic railway, and a modest drive from the Mt Washington toll road. Tons of waterfalls near by, cliffs, pond loops, and a full grocery store is 10 mins down the way. The stream was wonderful. It kept our area cooler and the sound of running water added to the stay.
Be aware, there is no cooking grate at the designated fire pit. Bring your own or a camping stove for easier cooking.
Overall, a great experience and well worth the price for mostly solitude. Would love to have another stay next season!
