Stillwater Getaway

Unfortunately left camp to find a motel. Didn’t feel safe and didn’t attempt to get a refund. 4 grown adults hanging around when I arrived, one being the host. No other campers staying on the property… great location but wouldn’t recommend the campsite. Was once an old Girl Scout camp so location is great but property is in rough shape. The only way I would have stuck it out was if I had a large group with me. Even then I’d move on or stay at a local RV site. Ryan was kind but environment did not feel safe to be at by myself overnight.

First and last visit.

Arrived Friday evening, only to find the entire place completely deserted. A boombox was blaring music outside at the community center, but not a soul to be found anywhere on the property. Drove around, attempting to find our campsite or someone to ask where to go, to no avail. Saw a car parked near the boat ramp with someone slumped over in it in the passenger seat. Approached the car to ask some questions. When the guy in the car raised his head, his face was all bloody. He couldn’t talk, but just kept pointing to the boat ramp. At that point, we had seen enough and left the property half freaked out. It was like a scene straight out of the twilight zone. Not even interested in going back to get a refund.

Nice spot. Ryan is so nice! I heard the train a few times, but it’s really not bad. If you’re looking for a nice spot by the lake, it’s good. Clean washrooms, rustic campsite. I’d recommend.

Ryan was an excellent camp host! The grounds are without a doubt scenic and well cared for. What a treat to have hot showers, access to a kitchen and refrigeration. Nothing beats waking up next to Stillwater and hearing the loons call out over the lake. On our last day we got super lucky when paddling over to the islands, and saw a bear swimming across the lake. We also fell in love with cheeseburger, the camp cat. What a wonderful vacation 🫶🏻 Wouldn’t change a thing- thank you for a beautiful weekend Ryan!!

Ryan was very nice. We were very fortunate and nobody else was on the property so he directed us to a great spot by the lake. We heard the train at night one time, but other than that is was very peaceful.

This location was really good for us, we and a number of other people used the campground as a base camp to go to and from Under The Big Sky concert which was great. The whole grounds are like stepping back in time to its formal life as a girl & Boy Scouts camp from ages past. The only problem was that it may not have been cleaned since. The owner is so nice as are his dogs. The charm is all there, but keep low expectations for cleanliness. So nice to have a full kitchen and showers, the lake is great and all the canoes and things lying around. The place would be truly awesome if it was cleaned up a bit.

The host was very friendly. The tent cabin was clean comfortable and well furnished. The bathrooms were clean and the water was hot. My son and I had a great time paddling to the island on the complimentary kayaks. We would stay here again.

Train noise

The host Ryan was nice and helpful but the camp is located pretty close to active and busy train traffic. This made sleeping difficult as they blow their horns to go through the town nearby. Probably every 1-2 hours or more. The woods and wild are everywhere, not any cut lawn areas or established trails that we saw, which just makes it more a back country style experience.

Great Vibe

This place has everything you need. Its right on the beautiful Stillwater Lake. Has a community feel, with a campfire, shared kitchen and lounge with every board games old and new. The host, Ryan, is very nice and gave great advice on local attractions.

This campground was so fun!! They had kayaks and canoes for any campers to use, the host Ryan is super helpful and friendly, and we ended up staying an extra night to attend Corn Dog Days at the local Stillwater Bar. 10/10 cant miss staying at this point

Feeling unsafe.

Campsite 2

Camp host Ryan greeted us then put his hand on my shoulder not for seconds but lingered. I felt uncomfortable and stepped back. He then asked us to park our van right next to his office. I asked where is the camp site #2 is and he said that is #2. I politely asked if I can not park next to his office and he said what’s wrong with it. Eventually he allowed us closer to the lake away from his office and his windows. Next morning I saw his own car parked at the place he asked us to park. I don’t think that was appropriate and it made me feel unsafe. He was heavily intoxicated. I am not new to camping and I am a nurse. I don’t know why he doesn’t know NOT to touch female camper at 11 pm checking in. I would think that is common sense. I would not recommend this camp site to female campers.

Incredible view!

Ryan hooked us up with a remarkably beautiful view next to the water! The site was great with an outhouse near by and a bath house to use. He has a few really nice dogs that my son loved too. We had a great time visiting whitefish and glacier while staying here. He also told us about a place to get burgers right down the road and we ended up there everyday. We really had a great time with this location as our home base.

Owle's Nest

Ryan is an excellent host and very welcoming. He shared some of the history of the camp which we found interesting. We really liked the "Always Open" club house/kitchen with many games and books.

We loved our stay at Campsite 1! Ryan was so accommodating and helped us move around our reservation last minute, even over the busy festival weekend. He had great in town recommendations and tips about the area. Our site had a tent platform, wifi access, a communal fire pit and a bathhouse equip with towels and some toiletries. Plus hot coffee in the morning! We’re planning to make another trip to explore Glacier and would definitely stay here again! Highly recommend

Summer camping!!

Honestly haven’t had fun like this in awhile! Ryan was the coolest dude. A great vibe and a super fun campground. The lake is right there and this had the vibe of camping in the summer. I felt like a kid here. Showers were great and the common area was nice. Made me feel absolutely welcomed and would love to come back. Bring bug spray though if you don’t like mosquitoes. Also the WiFi doesn’t reach across the entire campground but it’s camping so I’m not expecting to use my electronics too much anyways (why they call it getaway). So much fun here. Thanks Ryan!
