David and Donna were absolutely wonderful! So incredibly kind and thoughtful! Very flexible with me changing my arrival time. Extremely accommodating, we forgot our bug spray and they let us have theirs. We were by the creek and it was better than we expected. The site was private and beautiful. Had a great communal spot with the propane fire already set up for s’mores and night. Will definitely be returning!

David and Donna could not have been better hosts. They were both informative about the sites to see in the area, as well as, gracious with their homesite. I would most definitely recommend anyone to stay at Rabbit O’Brien Camp.

We usually do BLM dispersed camping, but we decided to come and stay at David and Donna’s place. Originally we booked from a Wednesday to the following Monday. That was back in mid July. Today I rebooked us (for the 4th time) through this coming Monday, August 19.... and after that... we’ll see.... we may head towards home- or maybe we will stay a few more days and then just drive straight through to Phoenix when the snow flies here in Montana and the heat recedes back home in Phoenix. This is an absolutely wonderful place to stay and David and Donna have made us feel like ol’ friends. We have truly enjoy ourselves...for us, it’s been a great base camp -that has allowed us to explore the area, play, and feel totally safe knowing that we are in their care. We are self contained, but they have water, a clean bath house for visitor use, a great patio to sit on and make s’mores or enjoy the night sky/morning sun and coffee. It’s a gem of a place and we look forward to coming again next summer. Thanks - Dave and Donna xoxo

Dave and Donna are super hosts! I adored our visits with them as much as we enjoyed their beautiful property and views. They’re a wealth of local knowledge, from where to pick huckleberries to where to dump the trash, they had the answers and tips for our stay with them, and the remainder of our trip. If I’m ever back near Troy, I would absolutely stay with them again!

My sister is actually staying at Rabbit O’Brien Camp. We decided to come and visit her. The place id wonderful! From the greeting we received, to the stay we had in the RV camp, and the meal we shared as a group (with s’ mores for dessert) it was 2 blissful days. It was a safe “camping” place to bring my grandkids. Next time we’ll bring our poles and let my 4 year old grandson try fishing in the creek. My only regret is: by putting this review on HipCamp- Dave and Donna’s place will become a haven for others as it should.

This is such a gorgeous area and Dave and Donna made the most wonderful hosts. The facilities were impeccably clean and felt completely safe and secure.
As someone who loves foraging too, Donna was able to point me towards local wild raspberry and huckleberry patches, and Dave as well as giving me a general rundown of the area. (Ross Creek is definitely work the side trip to see 500 year old cedar trees.)
My children loved playing down by (and in) their creek and roasting smores over their firepit. We went to see the meteor shower and I can definitely confirm they have some *amazing* night sky too.
We loved it so much I think this is going to become one of our more regular getaway spots when we are in the area.

Rabbit O Brien Rv/Tent Camp
I stayed 2 days here with my boys and we had a blast! Great secluded location and felt extremely welcomed! The boys favorite part was David and Donna brought Wonderful Hot Chocolate out to them out first night before bed. Cool spot and lots to do in the area. The town of Troy has a nice coffee shop and there are waterfalls and swimming places near by. A find!

Gorgeous area! Love the wooden shed with the fire pit where we can cook some s'mores and stargaze! David and Darla were fantastic and kind people!

Staying here was a dream! David and Donna were so wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed. The site itself was down in the valley, secluded with trees, and you can dip your toes right into the creek. They also had a beautiful deck built to overlook the valley. You get to sit fireside and enjoy the beautiful views of the sun setting behind the mountains. We had the most relaxing time and wish this wasn’t only a one night stop on our road trip. I also think I filled my camera roll within minutes of being there. Thank you guys so much!!

David and his wife were helpful, friendly and very accommodating . The grounds were clean, manicured. The washroom facilities were spotless! The directions here were exact and had no problems finding it. The scenery was very serene and beautiful . I can not say enough good things about the place. It is convenient to town which is cute and the beautiful surrounding area. I would highly recommend this site and will come back again when ever in the area;

The hosts just could not have been more friendly and helpful. The camping area was so serene and beautiful! The deck with chairs is a really nice added touch. We sat and drank our coffee in the morning and soaked up the beauty and peacefulness of the place. Cleanliness is important and the facilities were incredibly clean! The directions were clear and precise. We would definitely come back here if ever in northwestern Montana again and would highly recommend it to others.

When we arrived at Rabbit O'Brien Camp we immediately felt at home. The Camp owners were very friendly and are gracious beyond expectation! Our surroundings were spectacular! Mountains surrounded us with a warm comforting embrace. The creek sounds enhanced our already relaxed minds and souls. The wild life sightings alone made it all worthwhile. And with a blanket of stars to sooth us to sleep all I can say is what a restorative experience! Truly this place is magical! I would,hands down, recommend this experience to anyone who craves peace and sanctuary! 😊

Rabbit O Brien Rv/Tent Camp
David and his wonderful wife were wonderful hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our escape from college off the grid in beautiful Montana. We camped down by the creek which provided a wonderful hammocking spot as well as gentle noise at night while we lay in the tent. Their bath house was wonderful and we all agreed that we could easily camp their longer with the hot showers they provided! The deck had the most beautiful view of the mountains and was great for roasting marshmallows! David provided great advice on places to explore in the area. We enjoyed the Main Perk Cafe in town, the lake a few miles up the road and the falls. A perk is the adorable twin deer that we decided to call Montana's special breed of dog. We look forward to our next visit, especially to see Dodo and Buckie.

David and Donna are the kindest humans ever!!! They gave us a tour of the property when we arrived. There’s a bathhouse with restroom and shower. There’s a nice fire pit with plugs they set up if you need to charge a phone or whatever. Also they have a very nice grill they allow you to use. We picked the spot down by the creek which is sooooo peaceful and nice. We were the only ones staying during our time so we were spoiled with having the entire space to ourselves. The first night we got in it was raining and they so kindly offered to let us stay in their camper to avoid getting drenched! True angels! They use solar, wind and hybrid battery power for everything around the property. We felt so safe the entire time we were there so whether you are a single male or female or a couple you will feel right at home and welcomed. You can just stay on the grounds and enjoy solitude but there is PLENTY to see and do around the city of Troy if you feel like driving! In town you MUST go to Main Street Perk they recommended it to us and I can’t push it more for coffee and breakfast sammies and burritos. David and Donna are so warm and welcoming and truly amazing people!

David & Donna we’re such great hosts! I would highly recommend this campsite. It sits on their private property and feels very safe and home-like. There’s a nice creek that runs behind the campsite that you can set your tent up next to. There were all of the amenities, shower, toilet, fire pit, bbq, etc. Beautiful spot to camp! Thank you David & Donna for being so wonderful!

Rabbit O'brien Creekside Tent Site
Some of the nicest people you'll meet and a very special property. We pitched our tents down by their creek and had it all to ourselves. Sleeping next to the creek I had some of the best sleep of my life. The property has a lot of thoughtful details useful for a weary traveler, like a nice clean outhouse with shower, and a place outside to charge phones etc. David and Donna went out of their way to welcome us and we are still remembering our time there fondly!

The Rabbit O'Brien RV is a comfy and spacious place to rest your head if you're not feeling like tent sleeping. The RV is nestled in a private little patch of forest on the property. Open the windows and listen to O'Brien creek rippling just outside your door or kick back in the armchair set up for prime relaxation above the creek in your front yard!

A beautiful setting and friendly hosts! The hand built deck located at the RV Camping area is an awesome touch to the property. Each site has its own picnic table and set up area with a view of the surrounding Cabinet Mountains! Definitely worth staying if you're in the area, or make it a destination spot on your road trip!

Rabbit O'brien Creekside Tent Site
The Rabbit O'brien camp hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming! They have worked hard to make their land special and inviting! There is a nice RV area, an RV on the property you can rent, and if you are tent camping, they like to tell you to pick a spot that feels right! They thoughtfully set out chairs in locations that are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views. The patio they hand built is a great place to hang by the fire, watch the sunset over the Cabinet Mountains and star gaze. This is a great jumping off point for exploring all of the adventures the Kootenai National Forest and Cabinet Mountains can offer! Definitely check this place out!
