When we arrived and discovered we did not have our crank for our pop up Dean went and made us a crank we could use in his own garage. Talk about above and beyond. Besides Deans kindness, we also enjoyed campfires, looking at the stars and looking at his wife's beautiful Dahlia garden.

My partner and I tent camped at the Fairway Pilot lot on Dean and Jackie's land and had the most beautiful experience! We booked the site at 11am the day we planned to show up and got there around 4pm. We were directly next to the bridge which connected to walking trails through the woods and had a creek at the back side of our site. The fire ring was large and allowed for amazing fire cooked meals, and the outhouse was a short walk away-always lit at night and easy to find. We purchased a wheelbarrow of firewood and collected some fallen sticks in the woods to use in the morning and nights. It was late summer and they had flowers blooming in the garden-just stunning! The entrance to the property was easy to find and marked by pink flags, and we were greeted by Dean and his friend as we arrived. They had a cute self service market at the front with fresh cut flower bouquets, sourdough loaves and scones, hand made gifts and fresh eggs (which we stopped at on the way out). The property is 10 minutes from downtown Manistee-close enough to get what you need/explore the town but far enough away to have beautiful starry skies and quiet time without the state park hassle. Was such a great experience, and would definitely come back! 10/10!

Dean was very welcoming, and we were greatful he was able to help us out in a pinch with finding a last-minute site on a busy holiday weekend. Our 20' single-axel trailer was too large for the sites, so we parked in a grassy corner of the yard/field. It worked fine for us as we had trips planned each day and just needed a quiet place for our home base.

Dean and Jackie are wonderful hosts. The property has a beautiful landscape and Jackie grows amazing flowers and bakes wonderful sourdough. There’s plenty of firewood and the hospitality makes for another trip back next year! Thanks Dean and Jackie!

The property is beautiful and quiet. Got a chance to look at the other sites and loved how diverse each spot is and can appeal to different people for different features. The little farm stand on the property is really nice with flowers and goodies. Will be back for sure! Got my eye on Elwood next 💚

This was a great spot to check out upper Michigan. It's around the corner to the Manistee Natl forest and a close drive or bike ride to all sorts of adventures. We went up to sleeping bear dunes. This site was excellent for Hammock camping. The creek and canopy was most excellent Mid August. There was a family of otters running through our camp at night! Deans property is nice and has an easy water spigot and a pretty decent outhouse. They asked us how we could improve and I think some of the sites could be spaced out a little more and the wood we paid the host for was very large and wet. We also paid for a tour we never got I should be just grabbed a dahlia bouquet for the road. Dean is super chill and helpful. He had another camper he knew personally help me out with a flat tire.

Amazing campsite, tucked in a valley of sorts, it's private and beautiful. The creek is such a cool bonus and the hosts are amazing. Dean is so nice and went above and beyond to help my son and I out. Can't thank or recommend Dean and Jackie's place enough!

Beautiful site and property! The flowers are gorgeous and the camp offers privacy and some great sites. Hiked the land in the morning after walking the gardens. Perfect way to start the day. Well maintained. Great stay!

Dean and Jackies property was cute and suited our needs well for a single night of camping near our car! The campsites are all marked with nice little name cards and easy to locate. We didnt meet Jackie but Dean was very nice/knowledgeable about the area and seemed so ecstatic to share the property with us. I would note that most of the cites are quite close together, so if you’re looking for maximum seclusion/privacy this probably isnt the spot for you. There was a larger group of college aged students there the same time as us who were a little loud (nothing crazy, but some noise), and their car headlights were right in our campground so any time they got something from their car at night it illuminated us/our tent. Nothing Dean and Jackie could have done about it, but something to be aware of when booking. Overall we had a very nice time and the flower garden was a lovely addition to our stay.

What a great site and property. We said a brief hello to the host when he was out and they were responding to all questinn throughout our stay. Wonderful woods to explore and a great view from our site, plus great stargazing at night. Would definitely recommend and would go back.

Super easy to find and a great location! Far enough out to feel private and secluded, peaceful camping! The property was as described…. Beautiful! Lots of nice timber with a running creek, secluded campsites were spacious and clean with a table, fire ring and couple great chairs! Water and trash disposal available. Firewood available. Dean was welcoming and friendly, super helpful & accomodating! Dog friendly and my dog had a great time off leash! Lots of nice trails and the flower farm was stunning! Absolutely gorgeous old growth trees here, nice night sky with open areas to view! About a 20 minute drive to Manistee beaches which were clean, not over crowded, lovely pier to walk out, concessions and good parking. This camp is a few miles from the south end of M-22 which is a beautiful drive up the coast! I really enjoyed my stay, have no complaints and will likely return!

Over the River & Through the Woods
We stayed at Up North Rivers Camping over the 4th of July weekend. The property was even more beautiful than what the pictures show! Dean was very welcoming and helpful! He had nicely mowed the area that we set up camp at and he also mowed a trail through the field and woods that the kids could hike and bike on. We had a total of 13 people at our camp, 6 adults and 7 children; and we had PLENTY of room in the field campsite. The out house, water, and fire wood area would probably be a 5 minute hike from the field, but we used our bikes for quick trips to the restroom; it worked out great. It was a short drive to the beautiful beach in Manistee and a 24 hour Meijers grocery store. This was our first camping trip to Michigan (we are from southern Indiana) and within hours of being there we were talking about our next trip back. We highly recommend this property.

Great location for visiting all sorts of places nearby. Never saw the host, but the site was clean and not too tricky to find. I do wish there was a little more signage as I get nervous driving on folk’s property without knowing exactly where to go… not sure I would choose creekside camping again in June. The bugs weren’t terrible the whole time we were there, but when we arrived, it was super hot and the mosquitoes were crazy. Heard lots of wildlife, including owls and hermit thrush (who are some of my favorite birds). The field in front of the campsite was lovely too. Lots of beautiful trees on the property. And I was not disappointed by the fireflies who came out both nights and filled the woods with their magic. It’s hard to beat Michigan in June.

We had such a great time camping with Dean & Jackie! We did not have the pleasure of meeting Jackie but received a warm welcome from Dean; he went above and beyond to help us feel right at home.
Their land is gorgeous and we took many long hikes with the pup through hills, forest, and fields. We had our pop up camper and Dean helped us find the perfect spot for a cozy set up.
The facilities are simple but great for the most rustic types like ourselves. We felt safe and the grounds were very clean. The stream was pretty, the woods were lush and natural, and we felt like we were a million miles away from everything.
I would highly recommend this HipCamp!

Nice spot, the level sand made for comfortable sleeping. Lots of birds out and a nice creek running by. A little smaller than the pictures looked, it fit our group with three cars and three tents but wouldn’t fit much more than that.

Since only one other site on the opposite end of the property was occupied, it was very peaceful and we had a lot of space to play soccer, bike and run around with our kids. The street is noticeable but not too dominant. Dean and Jackie are very welcoming hosts. Great communication and well given direction on how to find their property. You buy plenty of dry firewood for a fair price. Our kids loved playing in the woods and creek adjacent to our site. The outpost is very basic though. The campground is in a great location, close to Manistee and the many wonderful nature areas.
