Great directions to fabulous property. Site was clean, quiet, and well-maintained. Hosts were kind and came to warn us of rain. Very nice tables and bench. Fall colors were amazing.

The perfect place to camp in the Keweenaw. A great location between main towns and lake shore. Plenty of space and nice spots for tents and hammocks. Nice fire area and seating. Bugs were surprisingly minimal. Outhouse was so nice! Ray and Viki are such good people and were so accommodating. Highly recommend and would return in a heartbeat.

Sylvan Pond Camp
Raymond and Viki have set up a wonderful site for anyone looking to camp in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There is easily room for 3 tents if needed and they are very kind hosts who provide free water and occasionally firewood for campers which is great if you're traveling long distance. The site itself is very private and tucked into a copse of oak and birch trees.

Beautiful forest and a quiet peaceful spot to camp. The picnic tables and outhouse were top notch. The provided water and firewood was an added big bonus. As was the thimbleberry patch. Would definitely stay there again

Great tent site. Convenient picnic tables, bench, privy and access. The first night, the frogs and dogs barking kept me awake. Second night was better! Would stay there again!

My fiancee and I came to stay at this campsite and LOVED it. Ray was incredibly friendly and courteous. The camp was spacious, and could easily hold multiple tents for larger groups. The lavatory was clean, new, and well-maintained. Our 15-month-old blue heeler had lots of room to run around on her long lead, and the firepit was perfect for cooking our food.
The location was nearby the Gratiot County Park, and fairly central for exploring the Keweenaw from Houghton to Copper Harbor. Would definitely like to come back!

Beautiful quiet spot and easy to find. There was water and a bundle of firewood ready for us to use. The toilet was very very clean and newly built.

Awesome area to camp for a few days. Beautiful area in the woods that's a close enough drive to the lakeshore. Raymond was nice enough to leave us water to use. We had no issues and I'd recommend this location to anyone looking to get away in the UP.

Perfect secluded location for privacy. Area was free of any trash and set up with a great tent pad from mulch and the fire ring was perfect beside the pond with the tables and a bench. The outhouse was a very nice added touch which the girlfriend liked. Ray stopped by and said hello for a moment and he was very kind. I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

I adored my stay at Sylvan Pond! The site is very camper friendly; it comes complete with a bench, picnic table, cooking table, fire pit, and a very clean outhouse. The hosts were incredibly kind and gracious. Though their house is nearby you cannot see it, or any other house for that matter. The pond hosts melodic frogs and birds. I even saw a turtle covering it’s eggs! It’s a short drive from Gratiot River County Park and fairly close to services/businesses in Calumet. I had a marvelous time and will definitely be back!

I rarely write reviews for anything. This after all, is the internet and a review is only worth so much. With that said, after having used hipcamp now, for a number of years and a fair number of campsites, one of the most lovely experiences my Son and I have ever experienced. Ray was such an absolute delight. If I were to have had more time available, I'd have stayed another week just for the chance to sit around a fire and chat. He was so kind to us and so welcoming, it felt as though he were a long lost cousin. On our last morning, as I was packing up our gear, he sat with my Son and played a couple games of Chess. Hearing laughter from the both of them, is a memory I will remember for the rest of my life and, I'm hoping won't be the last, as I plan on returning. Again and again. The site is beautiful. It's tree filled, but allows morning light to sneak in to gently wake you up. There was a concert of Owls, Peeper Frogs and birds which was the soundtrack to our three nights. The tent site is flat, with mulch to soften the floor a bit. The fire pit is far enough from tents to mitigate any worry of embers burning a hole in your tent. There's plenty of twigs and sticks around to get a fire going, but you'll want to stock up a bit on a bit of the road-side firewood just to be sure you'll have enough. My hunch is, you'll spend some time sitting near a fire, near the pond, enjoying the same magical chorus we did. This place is a gem. I wish I could write more.
