Listen to the gentle brook and barred owls while nestled into the woods of Ashfield, MA on a small herbal homestead. The forest hut is a screened in platform that is lovely for camping on a warm summer's night. It has large windows and screens to keep out the bugs while enjoying a cool mountain breeze. There is a newly built composting toilet on site and small fire pit. This is not a cabin, no electricity, running water or plumbing. It is not well suited for winter camping unless you’re well equipped. BYO gear as there is not mattress or blankets in the shelter. We have a small farm store near the road filled with herbal teas, tinctures, gifts, chicken eggs, soaps, maple syrup and ghee. Take a swim in the Ashfield lake 1 mile away or visit the enchanting Chapel Falls on Trustees land just down the road in Williamsburg. Sweet Birch Herbals is a community herbal company offering workshops, apprenticeships, wellness consultations and hand crafted products including Full Moon Ghee. We grow organic herbs and ethically forage plants for medicine. Request a farm tour, herbalism class or any of our products for your stay here. Booking Rules and Information: - Check in: 3pm - Check out: 11am - Campers bring their own sleeping pads, pillows, sleeping bags, blankets etc to be warm and comfortable. - Bring all your own camping needs such as cook stoves, camp chairs, food, biodegradable soap etc. - Ideal for a couple or close friends as the space is small about 8x10' dimensions. - 3 gallons of drinking water provided in blue carafe at handwashing station. - No electricity or cell service at the off-grid hut. Wifi is available, but spotty - For cell service, the nearest spot is on route 112 near the school - Wood is provided and if you need more it's under the house deck. - Always put out fires completely with the blue containers of water located under the hut when going to sleep or leaving the site. Never leave fires unattended! - Quiet hours 9pm-8am - No parties or loud music -Pets must be on leash - Pack out all trash - Do not enter the residence - Sound may travel from the house (which is rented on Airbnb) to hut, heads up. - Call or message Hannah with any questions. Great place, will definitely go back! Super cute hut. Wood & water already at the camp site. Privacy without feeling remote. Gorgeous property.

Good location if you’re interested in going to the Daughters of the American revolution state park. Very convenient shelter used wheelbarrows to transport camping supplies which was helpful.

Forest Hut in Western Mass
We had a great weekend getaway in this cute forest hut! The hut and privy were stocked with everything we needed for a weekend. The town of Ashfield is also very quaint. The hut is fairly close to the Airbnb house, so if you're looking for an isolated stay in the woods, this may not be far enough from others as you'd prefer.

Staying at the Forest Hut was a magical experience. The hut was cozy and romantic with the fairy lights, views of the light through the trees, and sounds of nature lulling us to sleep. The privy was clean and comfortable. Swinging in the hammock sipping coffee and reading a book was never better. Host is just lovely and her garden/apothecary made it extra special!

This was an incredible place to stay! In all ways— peaceful, clean and inviting hut and privy (the CLEANEST ever in my life), beautiful light through the trees, and so many fireflies! ✨ Perfect, just perfect. Thank you Hannah

Forest Hut in Western Mass
I loved staying at the kuti for a night! It was my first time camping totally solo and I felt very safe and secure at this spot. The land is beautiful, and I appreciated the things that were provided (picnic table, paper/matches for fire building). I got some awesome herbal products and eggs from the farm store. It was so quiet and peaceful at night. The composting privy was very neat and clean. It was perfect for a solo camp, and I could see it also being nice for a couple, parent-kiddo, or close friends. It felt spacious for just me but would definitely be tight quarters for more than 2 people. I’d love to come and stay again!

The hut is perfect for a 2 people or an alone stay. The directions were clear and Hannah was quick to respond. We loved how everything even The privy was super clean and well maintained. The hut is in an amazingly beautiful forest with lots of oaks and hemlock!

Forest Hut in Western Mass
This is a very beautiful spot, a lovely hut with a great little shop and a very clean privy. Unfortunately, we came during acorn season (mid- August) and it was very loud in the hut. I would reccomend checking to see if that will be an issue during your stay. But, Hannah was a very kind and responsive host who helped us resolve our issue. The directions to find the place were clear and there were many additions that made the stay easier, such as lights for the hut/path and clean water to brush your teeth/wash hands. Overall, I would reccomend it with some reservations.

Cozy hut
Forest Hut in Western Mass
The forest hut is lovely! It’s a cozy space with mesh screens that brings in fresh summer air but keeps bugs out. The privy is also very well-maintained. The only downside is that the hut is a short walk from the house, which is rented out as an Airbnb. The Airbnb guests weren’t out of hand, but noise easily reaches the hut. And a group renting an entire house is on a different sleep schedule with a different vibe than a couple camping in a hut. All in all, I would highly recommend it if there were no other guests and recommend it with reservations otherwise.

The Kuti was so cozy and comfortable. It was great feeling sheltered but outdoors at the same time with forest all around. The privy was clean and tidy and the fire pit was perfect. We had a great stay!

My boyfriend and I had a magical time with our dog at this forest nestled hut right by the lush herbal medicine gardens. We enjoyed cooking over the fire for every meal and were so grateful to have coverage with all of the rain! Hannah was a fantastic host. 10/10 will go again <3

Meditative hut, bear friend?
Forest Hut in Western Mass
Loved camping at the meditation hut. Beautiful property with lots of butterflies and wildlife. The hut felt nicely secluded in the woods but with a view of the house through the woods a bit. The outhouse was pristine. Campsite has a nice fireplace and a picnic table. Brought our own lanterns and string lights for ambiance and lighting. Also brought lots of blankets and yoga mats to layer as a cozy bed. The hut was very cute and it felt like sleeping out in the open in the woods. At about 2 AM we were visited by a bear, who walked around the site for about an hour and opened our small cooler to eat our brownies. We had the cooler away from the hut and made sure to leave any food we brought in that cooler. He didn’t seem interested in us or the hut at all! We were scared in the moment but honestly wildlife comes with camping. Would recommend this site to friends and recommend securing any food brought and staying bear safe!

The hut is lovely, the firewood and water available for the fire pit are incredibly convenient, and the outhouse is so clean! Plus, we had a great time browsing the store and waving to the mini horses. We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely return.

We loved Hannah’s hut! Even though it was a drizzly night we had a great time in the cosy hut and slept very well in the fresh air coming through it. The privy is very clean and comfortable too. Picked up some gifts from the farmshop on the way out. All in all a great stay!

Magical spot in the woods!
Forest Hut in Western Mass
This place is utterly magical! My partner and I spent a romantic night in the woods, gazing at the stars by the picnic table and taking in the sounds of the forest at night. You feel truly immersed by the nature with magical little details like fresh flowers and fairy lights throughout! HIGHLY recommend staying here and Hannah is wonderful! Definitely check out the store, the horses, the flower garden, it's a wonderful space and place that has been created and it's such a treat it is shared for visitors like us to enjoy!

Hannah little meditation hut was great. There was a nice fire ring too. We loved seeing fireflies and the stars were amazing. Lots of privacy for us and our pups. We found a nice little hike nearby with waterfalls and a swimming hole. Hannah was super accommodating!
