My pup and I had a great time at ToLR. We had a hilarious greeting of turkeys and hens and then about 100 yards then to the right and we were there!
The happy birds were a highlight each morning, the nuthatches were busy. The trails behind the woodshed were lovely and quiet. The cabin was so clean and so thoughtfully done. We didn’t want to leave and will for sure be back. Such a lovely and peaceful place.

Stayed at the Trees of Life Retreat two consecutive weekends with my two dogs. This was the perfect place for us. Quiet remote, clean, and fully outfitted with everything you need.
Lindell is a kind and responsive host and the cabin is set up perfectly. When we arrived the cabin had a hot stove already set up and was totally warm so we could unpack and get comfortable right away which was a welcome touch very much appreciated.
We stayed right at the end of March 1 week of April and the road up was heaving (no driving on it) so something to be aware of is you have to carry/wagon all of your gear up to the cabin - about a quarter mile away. Not the end of the world (we survived it), but definitely requires quite a bit of physical activity, depending on how much gear you bring.
Anyway, I highly recommend the trees of life retreat. Had an amazing stay and definitely plan to come back for another visit sometime soon.

Trees of Life Retreat-Fern Gully
Maybe one of the best camping experiences we’ve had in Maine. The land is large, lots of space to wander around and explore. We didn’t see anyone the whole time. The cabin seems to have everything you could need. The google maps directions to the GPS coordinates on the listing try to take you the wrong way though! Make sure to read the directions in the app.

Third time here and I have to say it's still my favorite. It's quiet and remote. Lendell is an amazing host and replies quickly to all questions. The trails here are fun to explore, cabin was toasty and clean, and the local dear and birds came to say hi right in the yard. As long as you keep the wood stove going it will be a perfect cozy winter getaway.

What a great little secluded spot! The cabin is super cozy and the surrounding property was fun to explore. There is a cool little trail network and a sweet pond my doggos really loved. Also, the grouse is really friendly!

This was my second stay here and it still by far is my favorite escape from reality. Last time I was there it was winter and this time it was spring and I took advantage of the beautiful weather to check out the local trails. The cabin was well stocked and ready to go like it always is and the host is so friendly and welcoming. I've vowed to go back again each year during a different season to enjoy the cabin in all of its seasonal bliss. I recommend anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with great amenities and a great host should give this place a go!

Visiting the ToLR was a wonderful experience. The cabin itself was clean and the amenities far surpassed our expectations. We especially loved the wood stove. Lendell was incredibly helpful and a great host. We really enjoyed how peaceful the surroundings were. My partner, our two dogs, and I truly cannot wait to return!

We had a blast at this cabin! The hosts had wonderful hospitality and everything was well-placed and thoughtfully arranged in the cabin. It was very clean and had everything we needed. We loved exploring on the trails and getting cozy with a fire outside and the wood burning stove inside. We highly recommend staying here!

This trip was great! We were welcomed with a pre-started wood stove and kind note from Lendell. We took a snowy hike through the woods and enjoyed the area. Would recommend for a small getaway!

We had a great time at this beautiful secluded cabin. The site was quiet, peaceful, and very private. The cabin was more spacious than expected, very clean, and well stocked. We loved our stay and really appreciated that our dogs were able to come with us!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Trees of Life Retreat cabin! The cabin was attractive, clean, comfortable, cozy, and very thoughtfully set up and supplied. We appreciated so much having water, cooking equipment and supplies, the propane burner, cleaning supplies, and bedding available. There were many thoughtful extras too that we appreciated very much. The setting in a beautiful forest grove was very restful and we enjoyed exploring the trails and listening to bird song. We had 2 clear nights to enjoy incredible star gazing and the Perseids meteor shower. We were thankful to have such a lovely place to stay and to be able to enjoy it with our dogs.
It has been an unusually wet summer and we did have some difficulty with our car being able to get through on the track leading to the cabin, it was fine the first day of our stay, but then became very wet and impassable quickly after a brief rain. When there is a wet spell or possibility of heavy rain, hiking in instead of driving from the start of the track would work well, or if visiting when the ground is frozen or very dry the track should be passable. Vehicles with 4 wheel drive and high clearance also likely will have no difficulties.

This peaceful off grid cabin is well designed, cozy comfortable and eco-friendly. It was clean, and bright, well appointed with plenty of dry firewood and clean linens. The hosts lit a fire before we arrived so it was cozy and welcoming. They even left a treat for us. The outhouse was clean and inviting. The porch had beautiful forested view. Wildlife track sightings, in the snow: grouse, deer, coyote, bobcat. This is a beautiful quiet get away destination.

I absolutely loved my stay here! The cabin was already toasty when we arrived and it came complete with almost all of the basic needs for a stay in a cabin. It was so quiet and peaceful. Just what I needed! The host was absolutely amazing and easy to get a hold of and even left us chocolate! I can't wait to go back again!

This cabin so very lovely! Tucked away nicely to give you some peace and quiet but close to town if you need to get any supplies. I had the best stay with my dog! We loved hiking through the woods and the cabin was nice and toasty at night! Seriously, there is no fear of it being cold, the little stove can really kick out some good heat! Cabin was decked out with everything I needed and was very clean. Stove was already warming up the little place when we got there. We would absolutely love to go back!

This camp was such a lovely example of a green, off grid, well design little sanctuary for some true peace and quiet. All the details made a difference- super well stocked kitchenware, great east to use woodstove, abundance of firewood, lovely quiet trails to walk out the door, moonrise over the trees, and lovely small and big hikes within 15 min to an hours drive.
We loved it! And highly recommend. Also fantastic for dogs- a chance for them to truly live off leash with no one around but trees, birds and mushrooms

The Trees of Life cabin, its porch, and the surrounding forests are so restorative! Lendell and Laurie are generous, attentive, and flexible hosts who thought of every detail for us to have a relaxing and cozy stay. The cabin is well-insulated, and equipped with cooking utensils, pots, and pans, wood for the stove, books, linens and blankets, cleaning supplies, and water. We immensely enjoyed walking with our dogs to visit the pond and lounging on the porch watching birds and stars. Will be back to this treasure of a place :)

This retreat is lovely! Lendell and Laurie did so many generous and thoughtful things to make my stay incredibly nice. For example, the cabin had a nice warm fire going when I arrived, the outdoor firepit had kindling ready to be lit, and the trails around the property were lightly trekked so they were easily visible when I went out adventuring.
The trails and landscape around the cabin are lovely with deciduous forest. The cabin warms up very well and is stocked with an interesting eclectic collection of books, and the bed is comfortable (I didn't stay upstairs as I wanted to be close to my pup on the bottom floor).
All in all, it was a great relaxing and peaceful retreat that I will remember for years to come and hope to find my way back in the future. I highly recommend this spot!

Trees of Life Retreat was fantastic and Lendell was super helpful. Lendell made sure the cabin was stocked with all the necessities and even had a fire going for when I arrived on a snowy afternoon. Plenty of warmth, water, and the cabin was very cozy. I would recommend a larger vehicle to drive up the road to the cabin itself, especially during the winter months. Would definitely recommend to anybody looking for a quiet getaway.
