Toad Hall was great! Amazing place to stay in the fall/winter. Cozy for 2 people with provided cots & camping chairs! The heater and shelter from the rain was great. Hearing the creek water at night was relaxing. Mike was so nice and communicative! Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful campsite ! It was a little difficult to find in the dark but once we found it we got settled in nicely, the firewood is a huge bonus as well as the stream being right down the hill! Would definitely stay here again! (It should be noted that checkout is at 11am not before 12pm but that’s minor )

Five star stay overall because I rate it on everything the host has control over which are:
Amazing little cabin, cute, tidy, smart design with window and front door to let the fresh air in on hot summer days, very nice to provide firewood and fire pit, very accurate description of the site on Hipcamp site, very communicative host and very helpful with check in/check out instructions.
Pros: River farther back in the woods, where our three dogs could romp around off leash they LOVED it.
Cons: this is on me, because the host did accurately describe the listing and the reviews are also accurate but I will add to them - this is RIGHT next to a road. It didn’t seem very busy at first but it was busy enough to be annoying and make us feel like we weren’t in nature at all. It should be called motorcycle hill instead - dozens passed us with their annoying engines roaring, as well as jacked up speeding pick up trucks.
Also, there is some kind of farm as a neighbor here and the rooster is LOUD and confused. I swear it was crowing from FOUR AM each morning, all morning long and continuing up through the day until the sun set at 8pm. He never took a break lol ugh. Very annoying after a while.
I should have read previous reviews more closely because they did mention this so like I said it’s on me!! Also host can’t do anything about either thing which i understand!! :)

The cabin was in a great location, close enough to walk into town and swim in the lake. Pet friendly was a plus and being able to have a fire was amazing.

This was a great spot right near the Long Lake public beach, within walking distance. The cabin was very clean and well kept. At the bottom of the small hill site was a second campsite with a teepee and hammock, next to the river. Very relaxing place to be! The only downside is the site is about 20 feet off of the main road, so some traffic noise. There is also a rooster cock-a-doodle-doo very early in the AM that lives next-door. Mike was a great host and we really appreciated all of the wood that was provided!

Toad Hall Cabin
We loved the Toad Hall cabin! My partner, dog and I went stayed for a night in June and it had everything we were looking for. The space was tidy, modern and thoughtful. Harrison is a perfect spot to go get into the outdoors and the cabin is located close enough to walk into town for dinner or ice cream. We will definitely be back again.

I loved this place from the moment I arrived. What stood out most to me was how accurate and detailed the listing was—it clearly explained what was provided, what wasn’t, and gave a great sense of the land and surroundings. Because of that, everything met or exceeded my expectations, and the entire experience felt seamless.
The cabin was clean upon arrival and fully stocked with everything a camper might need.
One small note: it’s located on a main road, but I personally didn’t find the traffic noise to be an issue during the day or night. For light sleepers, a pair of earplugs should do the trick. I also reached out to the host a couple of times with questions about nearby trails, and they responded quickly with helpful and thoughtful suggestions.
If you’re looking to experience the beauty of Maine, this cabin is a fantastic choice.

Loved my stay at this tiny A frame cabin. I think for the money, the pros outweigh the cons.
Cons: road noise all day kinda ruins the vibe. But traffic tapers off at night and it didn’t keep me up. No bathroom, but that’s upfront in the description so bring a camp potty or make the 2 minute drive into downtown and use a toilet there. Firewood was wet from recent storm, so maybe it needs to be better covered? I was able to get a fire going but it wasn’t easy at first.
Pros: Close to downtown with ice cream, delis, and a sit down bar/restaurant if you don’t feel like cooking. Beautiful clean cabin with cots already set up. Two fire pits with wood to burn. 10 second walk down the hill to a chill space with 2nd fire pit, hammock, and a dock into the small creek to dunk in. Quiet area besides the traffic and no close neighbors really.
Overall I enjoyed the space and was happy not to have to set up camp after a long hike. Would recommend.

Hi,
The upside: This spot has a beautiful, private, peaceful little river down below, bathing and chilling in it, plus the hammock set up near by, and all the lovely native flowers and dragonflies was wonderful.
Downside: The little cabin is basically the size of a 4 person tent. Very well built, but no windows you can see through, and kind of clastraphobic. Also the cot is so loud it was hard to sleep. The owners were great about leaving us be, but they were pretty loud a lot of the time, so between that and the road noise it was hard to feel one was secluded in the woods during the day. Nice and quiet at night (except the cot).

Toad Hall is as described, the perfect place to cool off and relax after a day of hiking. Excellent communication from Mike (I double checked the screen door). Very clean, and the solar fan was an appreciated feature due to humidity. Thank you for sharing your wonderful site. I hope to be back in the future.

There’s a little river in the back of the property that has the perfect place to dunk in! They have a hammock set up and even a little structure to create privacy when going to the bathroom. All in all a great stay!

Though the cabin is situated along a highway, once you were asleep you didnt hear any of the road noise at all. The cabin was perfect size for two adults and two dogs. It fit our double wide camping mattress with room to spare. The cabin has great ventilation and even a mini fan for extra circulation. We loved the river at the back of the property, it was like having your own private oasis, deep enough to wade in and cool off. We loved our stay at Toad Hall! Can't wait to visit again.

Mike's little a-frame is so cool. There is a good amount of room for 2 people to sleep in there, 4 if you ditch the cot and just do sleeping bags on the entire floor. You could also put your own air mattress on the floor for even more of a glamping vibe. He provides you with tons of firewood which I always appreciate. Another plus was the bucket provided to put out the fire.
The area is great! There are several pretty beaches and restaurants within driving distance. I wish I could have stayed longer. (:

I had a great stay at Toad Hall Cabin. Super convenient location (close to lake and in town Harrison. Fairly close to the road but little no traffic at night. The spot down the hill by the river was pretty peaceful. Cabin was clean and well equipped. Planning on staying again soon and would definitely recommend to others.

This was a great place for a getaway for the night. We have a difficult dog and she was able to chill super easily which was an enormous shock and relief- lol! Spent hours down in a bonus spot down by the water. So many places for hammocks. My husband was surprised at how immaculate the little cabin was. Fit us three very comfortably. Seriously private for the time of year.

Overall, the cabin was very cute, clean, and kept us dry in the rain. Although we were made aware of the lack or restroom prior to the trip, this property would benefit from an above ground composting toilet or privacy wall. The cabin is quite close to the road so it's hard to find a spot to comfortably go to the bathroom. Would recommend sleeping on sleeping pads instead of cot, which was uncomfortable. Solar lights and fan were a nice touch. Easy to find.

Unreal time at this site! Beautiful site with all the amenities you need; camping chairs, fire pit, a stream over the ridge with the perfect depth for sitting and wading; trees overhead have an ideal clearing of canopy to see the stars at night, and access to the site makes unloading directly from your vehicle a breeze; we enjoyed stringing up our hammocks from car to structure and sleeping outside, but would have been just as comfy sleeping on the cot inside the structure. Mike made our logistics easy and was in frequent and informative contact with clear directions and help if we needed; recommend planning to make and cook over a fire, the ambiance is A+

Mike was a great host and communicative. The location was awesome and perfect for our late check in. The fire pit and wood make this place a great value. We didn't actually use the cabin but stored stuff on the deck. Rad spot, nice host!

We loved Mike’s cabin! It’s adorable and the location is incredible! Only a mile or two from the store and ice cream, swimming in the lake. There is also a little stream on the property. We loved it and can’t wait to go back!

My partner and I had such a fantastic time at Toad Hall. The structure is insulated and waterproof (which was nice because there were passing showers and a thunderstorm one night). Perfect for two, with a double cot, fire pit and plenty of firewood provided. We were pleasantly surprised to find some off-grid power to generate lights and a small fan. They even left us a camping chair and yoga mat. The space was clean and well cared for. The river is right behind and down a short hill, with space for other tent sites (but we had no neighbors this weekend). So close to town too, definitely walking distance on a nice day. Loved it. Will definitely be back!
