Spencer's On The Penobscot

Historically speaking, Spencer's was originally a general store, nestled along the Penobscot River that was home to 14 sawmills circa 1870 - today 1 mill remains on the Old Town side of the river, although it is not in service. The Penobscot River flows just a few hundred feet away; fishing or treasure hunting for old bottles or marbles is allowed. Some have launched kayaks or canoes but sometimes the current is swift. There are numerous other boat landings nearby, as well as walking trails & bike paths accessible by car in Old Town. The sites we offer are modest (site C is very narrow although quite deep & best suited for a small rig); once belonging to our ice cream trailers. Our opinion is that these sites are best utilized for folks traveling & searching for an affordable solution that also offers electric- some sites also offer water/sewer. Bradley is a residential community conveniently located near Old Town, University of Maine in Orono or Bangor. For those seeking hiking, an easy hour or so commute to Baxter State or Acadia National Park. Interstate access about 10 minutes away. We are located on Main Street so potential for noise. Guests may also include turkeys, squirrels & birds.

      Great price with all the hook up amenities. Really muddy this time of year. We were within a arms distance or less to the other RV next to us- I actually felt bad and uncomfortable when we showed up and encroached on the other rv to plug in, he didn’t have any space at all once we arrived. Just a heads up too, it’s nice to be on the river, however directly across the river is a ugly smoking paper mill. Absolutely zero privacy. Owners were nice and kind.

      First off, Staci and her husband are amazing people. They were very friendly and helpful and quick to assist us with needs and to recommend places around here. The site here has full water hookup and 30 amp hookup. The site also has good easy access, which we needed with our 38 ft travel trailer. Nice little side area with picnic tables and a beautiful view of the Penobscot River amongst the trees. We enjoy going down to the water and exploring on the rocks. Not far from Bangor where you can find a lot of shopping and restaurants. Very ideal! Some commute noise and a factory across the River but neither of those bothered us, just putting it out there for those who like silence. We highly recommend this place if needing a place to park for the night, a place to stay for a few days to stock up on supplies, or even if you need a place to stay and don’t mind a drive to Acadia or Baxter state park!
