We loved camping on Mark and Bonnie’s land. It was the perfect getaway! Everything was so organized and all the cooking ware was labeled, which made it super easy to find things. Our pups enjoyed running the trails and exploring. We are definitely planning to come back!

My partner and I had an absolutely amazing time staying at this campsite. All the little touches are so thought out and they really provided everything we could think we need. 100% recommend the flower bouquet because they’re beautiful and now we get to hang and dry them to keep 🙂 the lower field was fun to sunbathe and relax in and has an extra fire pit with a picnic table if you wanted to make lunch or something in the field. We thought we would be eaten alive by bugs but that wasn’t the case at all, however we did bring several citronella candles( in addition to what they supplied) so that probably helped. Cell service was a lot better than expected as well! Highly recommend going to nezinscot farm while you’re here as well. We will absolutely come back to this campsite as much as we’re able to. We loved it so much last year, we came back! A year later everything we loved is the same, and better. Bonnie and Mark are such a great couple - hospitable and responsive. They gave us the space we desired this trip. The camp really is a little gem perched on a hill in the forest, with all the amenities you need for a comfortable, peaceful, and fun stay! The bed in the tent is really comfortable, and the solar powered fan came in handy on a muggy night, before the breeze blew it out for picture perfect weather. The camp is shady on a hot day, yet the sun trickles through the trees beautifully. A huge bonus is the large sunny field you have to yourself for playing lawn games. The kitchen canopy offered everything you need to prepare a full meal, although we opted to use the fire pit area with optional cooking screen to cook most of our meals - a great way to slow down. We love the fragrant carpet of dried pine needles to go from space to space - it really is an experience to remember and we vow to add more days on next time. And be sure to treat yourself to a bouquet of flowers - I am enjoying camp memories here back at home. Don't hesitate to hit the BOOK NOW button - you will be happy with staying at Bonnie and Mark's!

This was such an amazing place to stay! It is very private and very spacious, which was perfect for me and my dogs. It allowed us to enjoy the space without being right next to others, which sometimes makes my dogs a bit anxious. There were a lot of storms while we were there but the site has lots of trees so we stayed fairly dry and there is also a screen house where we could go to hang out while it was raining or to get away from bugs for a bit. The hosts were so nice and very responsive, and have really added so much to this site to make it feel like a home away from home. I can’t wait to come back again and I highly recommend to anybody who is staying in the area.

This site was fantastic! Aside from being quite aesthetically pleasing, the site was set up very well. We appreciated the convenience of the electricity, large bug-free spaces, and the thoughtfully set up kitchen area. I would recommend the flower bouquet option - it was gorgeous!

Shaky Barn Farm and Gardens was the perfect spot for a few plant-loving gal pals to get together for a weekend of laughs. The gardens and woodland trails were magical - even in late September - as asters, goldenrod, and hydrangeas peak and ferns turn golden yellow and sumac begin to show fiery red. Adding to the magic was the beginning of a Fairy village at the entrance of the campsite helped along by Bonnie and Mark and their granddaughter. Bonnie brought out a basket of materials and we were more than happy to tap into our inner creative

This place was FANTASTIC! It was the perfect set up for a relaxing rustic trip! Mark and Bonnie were super responsive and very kind. If you are choosing between this place and someone else pick this one!!! It was close to mountain hikes and only and hour away from Freeport! 11/10

I came here with my boyfriend to celebrate his birthday, we had a blast. Mark and Bonnie were great hosts and made sure everything we wanted/needed was supplied, including a bouquet of flowers waiting for us upon arrival and games for rainy days. The location is quiet and private, with beautiful trails to the gardens and throughout the woods. The area was impressively clean as well! We had an amazing time and are definitely planning on coming back. We feel so lucky Bonnie and Mark chose to share their space with us.

Great spot!! Beautiful garden and spacious field. Mark and Bonnie were very helpful and kind. Glad to have the field for my dog to run around I just wish it was easier for him to roam around the campsite while on a long line. (Unfortunately there were too many trees in the middle of the site and he kept getting himself tangled). Mark and Bonnie have thought of everything; light, everything you need in a kitchen, instant coffee/tea, spices, stove, ECT. I didn't stay long enough to enjoy everything they have offered definitely need to come back.

Amazing! If you are contemplating between two places, choose this one! Mark & Bonnie's space was magical, wonderfully curated, well cared for & an overall special place to retreat to. Pictures do not do this spot justice! Atop a small hill, all the structures and thoughtful amenities are within close proximity to one another, yet each feel like a destination in itself. We felt like we were on a giant treehouse, moving between wooden decks, on a bed of soft, dry pine needles. We appreciated the screened in porch area to play games, read and eat our meals. The sunken fire pit had various seating options from stones to logs to comfortable outdoor wooden chairs with cushions. The main tent sits atop a large deck built into trees with ample spots to sit, relax and connect. We appreciated all the thought that went into their covered kitchen space to prepare meals.
Bonnie and Mark added special touches, were great communicators, a pleasure to chat with upon arrival, yet gave us the space we were seeking after check in. Their whole property was free to roam and explore from the nicely cared for loop trail to all their gardens. What a delight - really no need to seek another Hipcamp destination! But if you do want to leave, go no further than the local town pond you get access to, or if you want organic vegetables and raw milk products, head to Pasture Lane Farm Market in town or Nezenscot Farm in Turner for a local meal, drink or treat. You won't be disappointed with those stops.

What an amazing site to walk into. Bonnie and Mark have thought of so many nice touches and was so much more than we expected. The weather was amazing. The trail on the property was a fun walk and we enjoyed the personal touches that they left for us. We will be back! Thank u Mark and Bonnie🦉

My family and I loved the tranquil campsite Mark & Bonnie have created. The site is perfect for kids, with lots of space to run around a explore. There is so much room! The activity tent, as we called it, was our go-to spot on the rainy days, for sharing meals and playing games. The campsite had everything we needed which made the camping experience so easy and carefree. The sleeping tent was super cozy and comfy. There is so much detail that went into it all and solar lights to light your way at night. My daughter loved the composting toilet and solar shower tent experience! We highly recommended this site :)

Beautiful naturally countryside place with everything you need for camping without the headache of setting up. Truly a Glamping experience, as their is a comfy bed and additional air mattresses. There is also a screened in sitting area, and covered dining and cooking area. Did I mention it is beautiful and the hosts are really helpful, attentive, and kind. I will return and I recommend this site.

We loved staying in the bell tent. It’s a fairly wooded area around, but can be navigated easily enough. The camp kitchen is well-stocked and clean. The screen tent was our lifesaver for the rain! It was a relaxing stay and the hosts are the sweetest and responsive.

Mark and Bonnie were welcoming and their land is absolutely beautiful, and artfully eco-friendly. I am returning, and possibly bringing my paddleboard next time, as their are many lakes and ponds close by. Everything ran on solar power, and the solar lights along the wooden paths, were magical at night. I loved the historic stone fence, the fields covered with eco friendly strawberry plants, moss, and clover, as well as the higher fields filled with native wild flowers. Next time I will not bring as much gear, because everything you need is easily accessible. The site is in a wooded area, that has tall, old and short, young conifer trees dotting the landscape. Boulders and wooden seats surround the excellent fire pit. I highly recommend this site.

Wow what a fantastic little spot!! My husband, two dogs and I had such a great time at this secluded oasis. The hosts truly thought of everything to ensure comfort during our camping experience. They had stocked everything from towels, to plates; had an adorable sink set up, a screened in tent for the buggier nights, dog bowls and blankets to our pups delight. The property the camp site is located on is unbelievably beautiful. We will certainly be back soon!!

Such a beautiful campsite and property! I really love how to platform is built around the tall pines. It's clearly designed with a respect for nature. So much thoughtfulness and personal touches everywhere. The solar-powered lights surrounding the platform and along the paths perfectly compliment the moonlight. The Bell tent was very comfortable and we slept peacefully listening to the night owl and morning birds. The sun dappled tent and pine needles were stunningly peaceful as we sipped on delicious early morning coffee with fresh ground beans in the French press and listened to the wind through the tall trees. We made good use of the kitchen and grill for lunch, cleaned our dishes in the washtub, and then explored the trails behind the property. The woods are lovely, dark and deep... just as Mr. Frost writes. Eventually we made our way out to the front of the property and the garden was simply amazing! We spent some time chatting with Bonnie and learning about Maine native flowers. Bonnie and Mark are both wonderful and gracious hosts. We will definitely return later in the season.

Wow wow wow. The property is beautiful, and very private! The campsite is enclosed in pine trees, leaving a super soft, magical ground to walk across (it almost feels like you’re bouncing across it). We brought our dog Hennie and he loved the trails, dappled sunbeams and laying on the forest floor. We read books in the hammock, drank morning coffee on the deck, played games in the screen porch, listened to the breeze through the pines, grilled hotdogs and hamburgers on the propane grill (and smores on the campsite grill later), wandered the insanely beautiful gardens, bought a few perennials, and listened to barred owls at night by the campfire. We appreciated that there was an enclosed toilet nearby, a screen porch in addition to the tent, firewood available (so nice!) and all the thoughtful touches. Parking was a short drive up a trail (we did it in a Fiat, surprisingly), and the site was a few hundred feet from that. Mark and Bonnie were gracious, both gave us our space but also were available if we had questions. We’ll definitely be back! I want to see the farm when the flowers are in full bloom!
Definitely go visit the Nezinscot farm while there! They have home-made everything (definitely get a cinnamon roll, fresh bread, and their cheese).
It is tick season and camping, so do a tick check when you get home! Also, Mark warned us that it gets chilly at night and to bring extra sleeping bags - we were glad we did! But that is Maine in early May for you.
