Sandy River Camping is located at Sandy River Alpacas a working alpaca farm. Our 40-acre farm is nestled in the foothills of the Western Maine Mountains. The property has 1600' of riverfrontage along the beautiful Sandy River. There is a private beach where you can swim, fish, or just relax. We offer farm experiences with the alpacas, giving you an opportunity to interact with and learn more about these amazing animals. We have a gift shop located here on the property that is full of amazing alpaca products, hand-made soap, hand-knitted baby sweaters, hand-made jewelry and so much more! there is something for everyone. And it's never too early to Christmas shop. In July and August, we have farm fresh vegetables and High Bush blueberries available. We are 30 minutes North of Augusta, the capital of Maine, and 20 minutes South of Farmington. Farmington has some great eateries, local live music, and, shopping. We are just a short 1hr drive to Rangely or Sugarloaf. and just a 2-hour drive to Bar Harbor which is the home of Acadia National Park. The park is ranked the 14th-best national park in the United States by U.S. News & Travel. Travel and Leisure ranks Acadia National Park as the 8th best Park in the United States. This is a standard single site that can accommodate 1-tent & 6-guests. There is power at this site. You have access to fresh drinking water and our brand-new Bathhouse which has 2 bathrooms & 2-showers. You are just a short walk to our private beach on the river, where you can swim, fish, or just relax, and just a short distance from the Alpacas. There is a large fire ring and (1) - 6-foot picnic table at this site.

This is one of our prime sites overlooking the river. There will be a 12’ x 16’ platform which can accommodate 1-tent & 6-guests. There will be handrails on the platform for safety. Don’t worry Tho, they will not obstruct the amazing views from this site. You not only have amazing views but you also have the beautiful sounds of the flowing river. You are located directly across from one of the paths to our private beach where you can swim, fish, or just relax. At night when you’re sitting around the campfire relaxing you can listen to those peaceful & calming sounds of the river. You have access to fresh drinking water and our brand-new Bathhouse which has 2 bathrooms & 2-showers. You are just a short walk to the Gift shop which is full of amazing Alpaca products and lots of handmade items. There is a large fire ring and (1) - 6-foot picnic table at this site. This site will eventually be one of our Three (3) Glamping sites. You are located next to the Overlook, which other guests have access to for picture taking or just viewing. Safety Disclosure: This site is located near the ridge that runs along the river with an approximate 75’ drop to the river.

This site is named after one of our original alpacas. This is a group site that can have as many as 3-tents set up. Or it can be rented as a single site. There is power available at this site. You have access to fresh drinking water and our brand-new Bathhouse. You are just a short walk to our private beach on the river, where you can swim, fish, or just relax. There is a large fire ring and (2)-6 foot picnic tables at this site. There is firewood available at the camp store for your convenience.

At this site, you will be camping next to the Alpacas. No worries, they won’t bother you. They may get curious Tho and want to watch you. You have access to fresh drinking water and our brand-new Bathhouse which has 2 bathrooms & 2-showers. You are just a short walk to our private beach on the river, where you can swim, fish, or just relax. There is a large fire ring and (2) - 6-foot picnic tables at this site.

Beautiful well kept grounds. Hosts were amazing at thinking of everything you will need. Alpacas were a delight to see. Bathrooms and showers are extremely clean and easily accessible. Be prepared for the current when swimming.
