About 45 mins down the coast from Acadia National Park and 5 mins from the quaint coastal town of Blue Hill, you'll find this ethereal forest and little black house tucked among moss and balsam firs. In May, you'll hear the peeper frogs calling through the night and bird songs waking you in the morning. In June, you'll see fields of purple lupine flowers around the Peninsula and watch fireflies blink as the day fades dusk. In July, you can pick strawberries at a nearby farm and see the Milky Way twinkling through the pines at night. In August, you'll find wild blueberries along nearly every trail and enjoy long sunny days, perfect for picnics on the beach. In September, you'll feel a crisp in the air and see the leaves start to change, making for cozy nights around the campfire while you listen to the barred owls hoot. This sweet little forest house is just large enough for a queen sized bed, a tiny wood stove and a ceramic water dispenser. Two of the walls are large picture windows so you can snuggle up in the organic cotton sheets and watch for deer wandering through the forest in the mornings. In the evenings, you can set up the hammock and have a campfire beside the house and listen to the barred owls hooting. The home is beautiful and simple. This is a place for adventurous people who want to experience a rustic stay in nature. Think of it like camping. There's no electricity or running water. There's an inflatable solar light that you'll need to set outside in the sun each day to charge. There's spring water in a ceramic dispenser where you can fill your water bottles and the solar shower bag. Next to the house is an outhouse with a 5-gallon bucket compost toilet and a hook to hang a solar shower bag. You'll want to put a generous scoop of pine shavings each time you use the toilet. If the toilet is filled during your stay, just send me a message. I work right in town and I live on the property so I'm nearby if you need.
