I loved staying on Dan’s property. His camp provided everything my group needed for a relaxing fall weekend getaway: spectacular views, accommodating infrastructure, and absolute solitude. You can tell he’s put a lot of thought and energy into the property (and the Hipcamp experience ), which made the entire stay seamless and inviting. We will be back!
Pro Tips: 1) arrive before dark to get your bearings, 2) pack light (it’s a good hike to the lake) and the rocky, rooty trail is not wagon-friendly, 3) Download offline Google maps and give yourself extra time for arrival because it’s way out there and GPS/cell service is spotty at best.

Dan was a gracious host with two cabins that were fit for anyone trying to get away for a long off grid weekend!
Kayaks and canoes that are available make this spot that much more amazing.
If you are trying to get away with your dog and not worry about any neighbors.. this is the spot.
10/10 recommend this gem of a spot with an amazing host!

Great spot with beautiful views. I had a nuthatch land on my arm in the morning like Snow White, which was a moment I’ll never forget.
Walk from car wasn’t bad but pack to consider for folks with mobility or lifting abilities.
Hoping to come back again!

This place was absolutely amazing. It is about a quarter mile walk to the lake cabin. We had to make a couple of trips to bring our stuff in. Next time we probably pack a little lighter, or organize items as must have vs nice to have and do an inventory of available items at camp before making a second trip. But honestly, I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Humans loved it, dogs LOVED it. We didn’t see any moose but the loons and eagles were constant entertainment. Can’t wait to go back!

Wow, this place is incredible.
Dan’s provided directions were clear after we lost reception and the drive was beautiful. As chronic over-packers, we were pleasantly surprised by how quick and easy the trail to the cabin was, but once we arrived it truly felt like we were miles away from everything.
We didn’t experience the volume of bugs that another review claimed, but knowing that they typically come with the territory when one is camping in the woods, we brought repellent and had no issues at all.
I can’t say enough about this place. As lifelong Mainers, we have never heard so many loons. When the sun was out we took advantage of the canoe and nearby trails, but when it rained there was something magical about laying in bed listening to raindrops hit the roof and feeling the breeze coming through the screens. On that note, we brought our own sleeping pad but the ones provided were very comfortable.
This place is special and the only negative was that we eventually had to leave! We miss it already and we hope to be back very soon. Thank you for sharing this place, Dan!

Stayed for 5 days, and had such a wonderful experience! It was private, serene, beautiful, and all around magical! We also greatly appreciated the cleanliness of the area! The cabins were cozy, and the mattresses on the bed made sleeping very comfortable. The kayaks and canoe were in great shape! Dan was great at communicating when we had any questions. Couldn’t recommend enough!

We can’t say enough good things about this campsite! On our scale, this was “glamping” because we frequently sleep on the ground and drive much farther for this kind of peace and quiet. You’ll love the views, the wildlife, the multitude of choices for hanging your hammock and the gel pad on the bed in the screened in bunkhouse. All fabulous, and Dan is a very responsive and generous host!

The property was in a great secluded location. The screened in lean-to was very nice and the optional small cabin is a plus if with larger groups. I would stay here again if in the area

Evergreen Conservation campsite is one of those spots you dream of. A campsite and pond all to yourself. Everything about this site is just gorgeous. The trails open up to a campsite by the pond that has everything youll need for a day on the pond. Great campfire a little hut to escape the bugs, chairs and canoes ready to go-all facing the most idyllic, picturesque, tranquil and Vedant view you can imagine-just gorgeous.

Beautiful and Peaceful Location
The lake and forest surroundings are stunning—peaceful, remote, and a great place to unplug. The cabin is rustic but cozy, with platform beds and a screened lake-facing wall that lets you enjoy the view without the bugs (if screens are intact). The breeze off the water helped a lot.
Challenging Trail In
The trail from the parking area is scenic but rugged and physically demanding. We had to make multiple trips with gear, which was tiring. Not ideal for those with mobility concerns.
Serious Bug Problem
In June, mosquitoes and biting flies were overwhelming—on the trail and near the cabin. The host suggests Thermacell, but there's no power at the site, so that’s not realistic unless you bring your own battery packs. This should be clearer in the listing.
No Swimming
The lake looked great, but we saw lots of leeches, so swimming wasn’t an option.
Great Host Communication
Dan was very responsive and helpful. The provided stove, wood and fuel were appreciated.
Overall Thoughts
This is a great place for well-prepared, adventurous campers. But due to intense bugs, rugged access, and no power, it’s not for everyone. Better upfront info from the host would help guests plan and enjoy their stay more.

Dan’s land exceeded our expectations. It’s exactly what I was looking for in a remote and serene getaway. I hesitate to leave my review for fear of this spot getting more popular and not being able to return in the future 😂 my dog loved running through the trails and patrolling the shore. We saw loons and other wildlife, took advantage of the kayaks, and admired the incredible view.

After camping somewhere with a 2 mile walk to the site, we almost got scared of by the reviews some people left. We're so happy we took a chance. The walk from the car only took five minutes, and we decided making multiple trips to carry gear was well worth it. The mossy trails are so beautiful, and we loved how truly enchanting the cozy cabin site was. This is a place we won't soon forget. We're so grateful that a place like this exists!

Dan’s camp is perfect for those looking to disconnect & reconnect with their adventure partner(s)! The cabin on the water is *chef’s kiss* plenty of room & even mattresses for the platform beds! You’re greeted with a lovely view of the pond & the sound of loons. We stayed at the cabin on the water, but the cozy cabin looked great, too! The walk to the cabins is not too far at all, but carrying gear backpack style definitely makes it easier. We loved the mossy trails & so did our pups. Having access to canoe/ kayaks was also an added touch we were so grateful for. Simply put we loved our stay & hope to be back!

The cabin on Dan’s land was amazing! He provided a canoe which provided hours of fishing fun! It was quiet and secluded which made for a perfect get away. The mossy walk in was truly magical - I would love to come back!

Such a cool place:) My dogs had a blast! You definitely need to be prepared for the hike to and from your parking spot. To reduce the number of trips: Plan to bring only what you need each day. I recommend leaving a big cooler at your car and only bringing a smaller cooler down to the cabin (refilling each day). And if you use a wagon, definitely get an off-road one.

I loved camping here! The cabins are beautiful and the lake cabin is right on the edge of the pond with breathtaking views. It is very remote and I did not hear a single other person when I was there. It is very peaceful and the hiking trails on the land are very nice as well. It is the perfect place for peace and quiet and beauty. The directions getting there were spot on and I had no issue finding it. Overall a great experience. If you are thinking about staying here, the answer is yes!

This is our second time staying and it continues to be great! We stayed by the pond and that cabin is excellent for watching the sunrise in the morning and listening to the loons and frogs at night. We saw 2 moose during our stay and plenty of loons!

Although this is a beautiful & remote off-grid location, we cannot recommend it to folks who are not prepared for walking the distance from the parking spot to the Lake Cabin. We were glad we brought a mountain bike to transport gear. We struggled with our (admittedly large) cooler transporting it with a woefully inadequate cart. The trail is rugged.
July 2024 brought with it unprecedented heat & humidity & unfortunately, lots of biting flies. We were thankful that there were few mosquitoes. This, we decided, is due to the huge population of frogs surrounding the peninsula. We have never experienced such a cacophony of calls all night long. We wished for a decible meter. My drummer partner said it was as loud as one of his shows. Bring earplugs.
We felt safe in the cabin from potential storms threatening in the near distance. Our food & cooler left inside the cabin were untouched when we returned from canoeing the lake.
Once I figured out that the skittering noise in the upper right corner of the lake cabin roof, I slept peacefully. Bats! Another reason for few mosquitoes.
There was moose scat in a couple of places, but didn't see an actual moose. We saw a bald eagle, loons, beavers, turtles, & squirrels & chipmonks. The lake was full of leeches, so no swimming for us.
The platform beds were very comfortable. The provided campstove & fuel was an excellent perk. As a semi-fit, late-middle-aged couple we probably shouldn't have booked this site. Dan was great.

We aren't experienced campers, so we wanted something beginner friendly but also off grid and secluded. We absolutely loved the camp. Both cabins were our choice of which to stay at, and they were beautiful. We hung out most of the day at the lake cabin, made dinner over the fire and headed back to the cozy cabin at night. We brought a ton of supplies but we're happy to know most were supplied for us! The directions were clear and Dan was very communicative through the booking of what to expect. Will be booking again!

An incredible place to stay! The views are breathtaking, and the cabins are nice and cozy. The forest surrounding the area is perfect for nature lovers, and the kayaks provided an awesome way to explore. Worth every penny—a little piece of heaven. Highly recommended to anyone looking to experience Maine!

We LOVED our time at Dan’s camp. Very private with amazing views. We loved being so close to the water with kayaks and canoes on site. Our dogs had a blast running around through the different trails and swimming. The wildlife was amazing. Bring binoculars if you can! We definitely want to come back.
If you are planning on going, I would recommend trying to pack light enough to only have to take one trip down to the cabin. It’s about a 10 min walk and we had to take a couple trips. Nothing too bad but if you have the opportunity to pack lightly, I would!
Also, check out Moxie Falls while you’re in the area! We did the short hike on our way out and it was totally worth it.

Really enjoyed my 3 nights here! Absolutely beautiful and very private, which I liked. I didn’t see another soul the 4 days I was there. Explored the pond by kayak and saw lots of beautiful birds. Cold late-April nights (down to about 20f the one night I checked) made me wish I’d packed a warmer sleeping bag.
