A little history of this land:
These 40 acres of land were a surface mining site. The reclamation work was done
during the 1970s. But over the years, the soil was seriously eroded. Anna and Peilin, who have a Master's and PhD in soil and environmental health, bought this land several years ago and started to restore the vegetation. Now the site looks beautiful and ready for nature lovers and campers to enjoy the fantastic view of the lake, ponds, hills, tall grass, butterflies... The site is totally different from what Google Maps shows now.

This campsite is a favorite for its stunning views, peaceful ambiance, and variety in accommodation options, including tents, trailers, and a unique dome experience. Guests often highlight the attentive and responsive hosts, Anna and her husband, who enhance the stay with their hospitality. While the setting offers a tranquil escape with good fishing and scenic beauty, some reviews mention challenges with heat management and generator issues in the dome. Overall, visitors appreciate the easy access to Lake Red Rock and the thoughtful setup of amenities, making it a preferred choice for both quiet getaways and family trips.
Everything was fantastic!! This is our second stay this year and we will definitely be back! I keep saying I want to bring my kiddos but I really enjoy the get away with my husband because it’s so peaceful!
Perfect end to our mini-moon. We were married a few days before and road tripped back home- camping at each stop. This was our last stop and was absolutely beautiful. Perfect weather, incredible views. We will be back
Awesome area! Cool sites, good fishing, well kept. Host / Owner communication was top tier. Will definitely be returning in the future, highly recommend.
Site 1 was a peaceful yet scenic spot. If you’re wanting more seclusion, I’d recommend other spots rather than spot 1 as there is a neighbor sort of close by. Grass could use a mow, tics were awful so make sure you’re well prepared for that. Spot 1 has zero shade this would be my only negative thing to say about this land and our experience. We will definitely be back.
Will definitely stay again. Area is beautiful, well kept, secluded and close to Red Rock for fishing. Hosts were very pleasant and accommodating and they provided a outhouse and little sink to wash your hands. After seeing the geodesic dome up close, we want to come back to try in the fall when leaves are falling and little bit of chill in the air since they can be used year round. This place is a hidden gem and definitely recommend.
Overall we had a good experience but when we arrived (i had messaged Anna that morning to give her our approximate arrival time) the dome was extremely hot inside as the air conditioner was not turned on to have it cooled down for us! We had to have her come explain how to work everything, she had a manual for us but didn't understand everything so a personal explanation was very much appreciated! Wish we knew how to work the battery for the coffee maker.
Luckily we brought our own battery packs for phones and other things that need modern day electricity.
Once we were settled and sleeping the generator ran out of gas so no more air from 3 until about noon the next day. Then it took another couple hours to cool down. They left us more gasoline for about the next 12 hours so the same thing happened the next/last morning. So i guess my suggestion would be to either get a bigger generator or leave more gasoline🥵
Anna was very good about replying right away.
On the last night we had a little baby mouse visit us so he was easy to catch and let outside.
The last morning i was backing my car up to the dome and unfortunately got stuck in the mud just at the edge of the drive where they had put gravel which worked very well if i had just stayed on it after probably 5 inches of rai .
Tri-pond lake camping exceeded our expectations! Camp site was clean and everything was as advertised - including how relaxing the ambiance was. Check-in and check-out was easy and Anna was super responsive and helpful whenever we had questions throughout the weekend.
We loved our time here and would stay again!
We had a girls weekend camping trip and had an absolutely amazing time at site 3! The site had a perfect mix of shade and sun and felt very private. The campfire was perfect for cooking and the ground was nice and flat for comfortable sleeping in our tents! The directions were very clear for finding the site which we really appreciated! There was also a cute little yard sale happening where we got some lemonade, eggs, and brownies which was a fun little extra! We will definitely be back!!
My family and I had such an amzing time camping with Anna on there property! It is so beautiful and has so much to offer. We loved being right in the middle of nature and hearing and seeing all the wonderful things this world has. The fishing was amazing and my child had a great first experience doing so. Anna our host did an amazing job at making sure we were well taken care of the whole entire time! We recommend getting the eggs because they are so yummy! If your looking for a beautiful place to get away this is it 😊
The site was private and spacious, with firewood nearby. The bathroom option was a nice bonus. Great communication from host, with clear detailed instructions as well as visible signage for easy navigation to the campsite. Host was very friendly and promptly responded to questions we had. I highly recommend 👍
We enjoyed our experience camping in the dome for a night. The dome was clean, and it was all set up to use the grill or build a fire. It was also pet friendly.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Dome, which offered a beautiful view. We were fortunate to experience perfect weather and a stunning sunset. I wholeheartedly recommend this location for a peaceful escape from the city. The host was readily available for communication, which I greatly appreciated. The generator unfortunately stopped working on the second day, and we had some difficulty with electricity, but we managed to resolve it. One area I hope they will consider upgrading is the restroom facilities. I was quite disappointed with the bathroom situation, as we had to travel to a gas station for our needs due to cleanliness issues, including spiderwebs, dust, and an unclean toilet. I would love to return, but I would need to be prepared to bring my own portable restroom.
This little slice of Iowa is gorgeous, easy to get to, secluded and a beautiful find.
They really have thought of everything you would need for a couple nights away. I was pleasantly surprised by all the camping essentials there. We were able to leave most of our supplies in the truck and just enjoy everything that was there.
Even with temps getting down to 22 it was cozy in the dome with the wood stove and plenty of blankets for our pack to stay toasty and warm. What a beautiful site! Thanks for sharing your space and land with us.
Great location, and accommodating host. Great directs and signs as you go through. Defined trailed with class 2 base gravel for easy 2wd access. Saw multiple deer both day for short time I was there. Well maintained.
Wow this place is just so gorgeous. We fit one 2 person tent and one 4 person tent very comfortably next to each other. When you’re in or around your tent, or sitting at the bonfire it’s incredibly private, but you can still walk out just 30 feet and see the beautiful wide open view. Definitely will be back soon a recommending this site to all of my friends!!!
