We were blessed us with an Indian summer weekend, and I knew I had to check this place out! It was October with temperatures in the 80s. I can’t wait to come back next summer and enjoy the property during the summer months.
When I arrived, the host was waiting for me and helped transport my belongings to the campsite using a cart pulled by his four-wheeler, making the trip a breeze!
Although the property is privately owned, the campsites are a good distance from the residence, offering a truly special, peaceful experience immersed in nature. I stayed at the Prairie site, which has a small privacy fence. While all the sites are located in the same general area, I felt like I had enough space, and the other campers were all friendly and welcoming.
The campsite also has a well-stocked, very clean outhouse with supplies and thoughtful extras you might need during your stay. I had forgotten a lighter, for example, and was happy to find one along with bug spray and other useful items.
I spent most of my time enjoying nature and taking photos. The woods are absolutely beautiful! This is a great spot for anyone looking to enjoy some quiet time, or for those interested in birdwatching, photography, or other nature activities. Although the campground is clothing-optional, I believe people of all comfort levels would feel safe and welcome here.
I can’t say enough good things about the hosts. From arrival to departure, they were friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. They checked in regularly and made sure everyone was comfortable and had what they needed. Their friendliness really made this new experience comfortable.
One thing to note: the area had been getting more rain than usual, so the bugs could be a bit intense at times. However, that certainly wouldn’t deter me from visiting again. Just come prepared with bug spray and tiki torches!
It was a wonderful, peaceful getaway, and I’m looking forward to returning. Highly recommend for anyone looking to reconnect with nature and enjoy a welcoming, relaxing camping experience!
