This was a great out of the way spot with lovely views over the countryside. I got to chat with one of the young men who helps run the place and I learned a little about the farm. Definitely worth the visit.

A Step Back In Time Retreat
The Host Chad was very nice and greeted us upon arrival to direct us to our campsite. The site was spacious and private and the kids loved the pond with the rope swing. the bathrooms were just a short walk from our campsite and were clean and well stocked.The outdoor shower was nice as well and private.It was a picturesque campsite and we would camp there again for sure.

Absolutely beautiful farm. The quietest I’ve experienced in a long time other that the bagpiper which is nothing that I would have expected 😊. Being Scottish I didn’t mind and it added to the serene scene. Cooling off in the pond was bonus. Everything was clean and groomed. Thank you for an awesome experience!

Ended up on staying here for about 7 hours because we got in later than expected. The property was nice and had a pond. Outhouses were clean and well supplied.

Thrilled to get to relax in this very remote place in Iowa. We love using Hipcamp for this reason. It takes you off tracks, to a place you wouldn't have considered visiting. The hosts were accommodating and we had a great time!

The quiet country setting was phenomenal! There is a nice pond with a swing very close to camp with outhouses and a shower available. You can see thousands of fireflies once the sun sets. Firewood available on site. I stayed on the night of July 3rd with my son, hoping we could see the Independence fireworks (kind of could, bit barely) and we ended up being blessed with the property owners who live 1/2 mile down the road to put on a great show.

Good stay for one night. Basic land with some activities we didn’t get the chance to try. Shower was listed here but we were unable to find it. Basic outhouse. Not a ton of privacy but luckily we were the only ones there.

I just keep coming back, how could i not? Sweeping views of Iowa landscape. Rural tranquility. Nice old water pumps. Big ol fire rings. Crafty outdoor shower. All so simple, with lots of charming little touches to make things nicer and easier. Oh and the swing into the pond is a blast and my kids wont stop asking to come out here!

Amazing experience. The young hosts provided us with everything we could need and were so fun to spend the morning with on the pond. Only regret is we didn’t stay multiple nights. Will be back ASAP.

From 13-year-old Bradon's friendly welcome (thank you, Bradon, for mowing the campsite to prepare for our stay) to the well-trained family dogs that dropped by to briefly participate in my yoga session next to the bucolic pond (my first time doing a downward dog with dogs!) to dad Chad's quick visit to make sure everything was okay (really enjoyed meeting you, Chad) to the peace and quiet under the stars at the Garndner family's heritage farm ... this was a stay from heaven in the heartland! We can't wait to return and swim in the pond when the weather's warmer :) Thank you, Gardner family, for this wonderful site!

Enchanting ambiance, heart warming energy. Outhouse, best I’ve ever seen. Dry firewood, rope swing into a pond, lovely host. Our stay literally couldn’t have been better. We HIGHLY recommend staying with Chad. 10/10

A Step Back In Time Retreat
Came with our two sons (ages 9 and 11) and we all LOVED it here! My kids are already asking to go back - mind you, this was the last night of an 8-night camping trip with 4 camping stops-- they were not burned out at the end of the trip, quite the opposite :). What an absolutely perfect finale to a great family camping vacation.
The host family is amazingly kind and the site is purely wonderful. I DEFINITELY would recommend this Hip Camp!!!

A Step Back In Time Retreat
The Gardner Family Farm was the perfect spot for our family. Our site was quiet, private, big and beautiful. The hosts were quick to respond and super friendly. We hope to return sometime soon!

Very pleased. This is not your typical dry camping. Such a beautiful spot, with so many added touches & amenities for campers enjoyment. The out house was great (it even smelled good somehow), the shower was amazing, and the ponds’ rope swing was so much fun. We watched the sun set from the bench at the pond while also watching the fish jump on occasion. The sun rise was just as beautiful coming up over the hill. There were small touches that made you feel right at home like dried flowers in the out house and other cute touches. There were so many things provided such as; toilet paper, hand sanitizer, water jugs to haul the water from their spickets, a tub for dishes, chairs, picnic table, fire pit accessories, etc. It was so serene, peaceful, and carefree. We felt spoiled and so appreciative to Chad, his wife and children that they work so hard to make this a clean, safe, enjoyable, and reasonably priced space for people to experience. Grateful that we found this spot along our trip.

The setting was beautiful. The outdoor shower was fantastic and the outhouse was clean with thoughtful decor and extras.
Our site was slightly close to the road but under the pine trees and that gave it a more secluded feel. The host is warm and gracious. You will love staying there.

This is the perfect place to escape and be one with nature. The farm is situated between a great number of parks that have really beautiful hikes. We had such a wonderful time and have already started planning a return with some friends after COVID. The Gardner family were incredibly welcoming and checked in daily to see if we needed anything. Wish we were still there breathing in the crisp clean Iowa air. If you have any reservations about staying on a farm, let me assure you, you will not regret your stay.

Amazing respite in beautiful Iowa. Chad and family have created a peaceful and serene farm camping experience. Everything was thoughtfully provided in a casual and wonderful set-up. The pond was an added bonus. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful location!! The communal fire pit is large enough for several people to sit while staying socially distant. The barn swallows were not impressed, lol. I appreciate the eggs..I enjoyed some for dinner and boiled the others for breakfast!

My partner and I have been road tripping the past few weeks through many states and different campsites. This corner of our trip was hands down the most beautiful, fun, and welcoming part of it. Chad and his kind family have the most beautiful farm, which features a lot of open space, a beautiful swimmable lake, and great views of starry night. Perfect for any size group and camping fans. Highly recommend!!!!!

The campsite was perfect - picturesque and comfortable grounds to camp on and the host was incredibly helpful and friendly! Outhouse and shower were kept up with thoughtful touches and we had everything we needed to build a fire. Would definitely camp here again if I ever pass through again and highly recommend to all!

Outdoor shower perfect for cleaning dreds fast and well. Clean pond. Rope swing sturdy and safe. Hosts gave us space and also welcomed us into wonderful conversations. The kids made this campsite feel like a palace. Many flat spots for tent set up. Hammocks already up for us to relax. Fire going upon arrival. Bath Tub you can fill with hose from outdoor faucet. Sun heats water through the day if you are a warm bath-er, cold water from well perfect for an icy invigorating inflammation reducing bath of help with sun fatigue. Pail with dish scrubby is @ water station. Tree Temple. Many rocks, platforms, swinging bench to meditate on. Frog conversations that shake your gizzard. Prairie flowers to color therapy your mind,heart, and soul. CBD non-pshycoactive farm that breathes with the tree temple. God everywhere.
