Custom Off-Grid ʻŌhiʻa Ohana in Opihihale, Big Island, Hawaii, situated on 5 acres surrounded by a beautiful ʻŌhiʻa forest. This custom-built cottage features beautiful ʻŌhiʻa and koa wood and sits at an elevation of 1,800 feet, offering warm days and cool, crisp nights and mornings. It overlooks lush green forests, enclosed fields with herds of adorable sheep, and stunning ocean sunsets. It truly feels like something out of a fairy tale. The cottage is equipped with a water catchment tank, a propane-fueled Paloma hot-water shower, a pump powered by a solar-powered generator, and a composting toilet. It’s perfect for an authentic off-grid experience. Wi-Fi is not included. A 4WD or AWD vehicle is required to access the property. The driveway is approximately 3/4 mile long, extending mauka from the highway, and is partially paved with sections of intermediate-level off-road terrain. No 2WD vehicles are permitted on the driveway. • No pets • No smoking • No drugs • No alcohol Due to issues with previous renters, these rules are strictly enforced.Custom wood worked native ohia structure with a spacious bathroom addition.

Worth the 4x4
Ohia Cabin
I didn't think I would be reminded of sleeping in the rainforest on the Big island. I was lucky enough to be at the cabin during a rainy time and it was magical! The sunset from the side of the mountain is perfect. If you like the sound of nature and birds at night it was perfect. Place was clean and the hosts were incredibly kind and had stellar communication.
