Just 35 minutes from Jacksonville and an hour from St. Augustine, this peaceful compound boasts more than 1,300+ feet of riverfront. Over two acres of open field provide plenty of space to spread out, while the surrounding native woods capture that “Old Florida” feel. Across the river on the FL side, 150+ acres of protected preserve land ensure unspoiled views and total privacy. Whether you’re pitching a tent for a night under the stars or gathering with friends and family for a party/event beneath our 70' pavilion with electricity and water, Blackwater has something for everyone. The water is rich with tannins from the Okefenokee Swamp, giving it a tea-colored appearance that is black in 1ft or more in depth Is the river water safe for swimming? Definitely! No, the property sits on an ancient 10,000+ year old beach dune called "Trail Ridge", featuring soft white quartz sand Does the river smell? Not at all How bad are the bugs? One of the BEST sites I’ve found through Hipcamp!!!! There was no shortage of things to do on the property itself, but as other reviews have mentioned, there are plenty of nature activities all within short driving distance. Host was great, facilities had everything I needed and in working order. I will definitely be back.

Stayed 2 nights. Camping with tents. At the time of this review, there was a drought, so the river was extremely low. Property was very well kept, clean, and a great central location if you don’t want to be too far away from everything. Hopefully next time the rain has raised the river so we could do the full runs, up and down stream. The water was nice and cool, great for the warmer days we had in November. We will definitely be returning. Great site.

Great location for a weekend camp. We were in a 23' TT and used the 30 amp service and water with no problems. CG is clean and stocked with toys to keep the grandkids busy. St Mary's was VERY low water. No paddling this weekend. Will definitely be back. Great job M ! Happy Campers

This is a great place for children and rv camping. Lots of toys, cars, and trucks for the kids to play with. The St. Mary's river borders the property and is accessible for wading, swimming, and fishing. The property itself is very nice with some secluded spots if you want to do some primitive tent camping. There are port-o-let style toilets with a sink and access to potable water.

This spot is a jewel! Right off the road but tucked away. Lovely river access with sweet white sugar sand beaches. Great for kids with fun stuff to keep them occupied. A really cool cypress glade with knees galore if you are willing to explore. Our night was shared with a large group of folks gathering for fun, and we still felt we had privacy. We would go back in a heartbeat and recommend that you check it out!

Exceptional property! Steps to St Marys River, secluded, 1-50A hook and water, nice outhouse with lighting, sink, trails galore. Beautiful huge gazebo with games for our next family gathering. Perfect for group tents. Chairs and fire pits around property and picnic tables. We have a 30' Alliance 5th wheel and in and out was easy. Matt is very easy to work with and we were glad he was there working. No wild animals to mess with your stuff except the resident cat and a rabbit or two. Did I mention..kayaks right by river for very small add, frisbee golf and the river, which you can walk across to the Florida side. You won't get much cell coverage but we did pickup local news and movie channels. Talk about getting away from it all! Hidden Gem! This one will be sought after once word gets out! Just perfect!

We have found our new camping spot! This camping spot has the perfect balance of amenities while still being able to stay rustic / primitive if you so desire. They have 30A and 50A connections, water hookups, a HUGE covered pavilion with tables, electricity, chairs, hammocks, charcoal grills, bikes, and toys for the little ones. The site also has picnic tables throughout the property. And when you need to cool off there are several sandbars along the river where you can cool off! Our two boys are loud and wild so we absolutely loved this spot. We will be coming back here regularly!

This site was absolutely gorgeous! This was not only my first time using Hipcamp, but also my first time taking out my new RV! I felt way more comfortable and confident taking it to a place where I was able to set up while taking our time! Not only was the site perfect to set up, and so easy to be able to pull the RV through (no backing up necessary), but my pups LOVED swimming in the river! It was just the perfect site and location and I’d love to visit again!

This has to be the best campsite we have ever been to the owner is super nice. I can’t believe how lucky we got discovering this hidden gem. The campsite had everything you need, including water, electricity, and beautiful views. The water was so refreshing on such a hot day, and it was only a short walk from our tent. We have an annual tradition of camping for our anniversary and this has become our new spot!!!

IT WAS AMAZING! Definitely coming back!! I loved tent camping there. It was private, quiet, and so much to do. We fished, went swimming, kayaking, and made dinner & smores over the fire. We brought our 2 grandkids ages 3 & 7. They had a blast and didn't wanna leave, we didn't want to either. They played in the playground area & rode the kids atv all around. We loved the beach area too! The sand is so soft and white! There was picnic tables very close by, so we had a place to sit and eat. Loved the bridge and hammock! I would definitely recommend this site to everyone I know.

The atmosphere is cozy, and you can truly relax and enjoy nature without distractions. The surroundings are beautiful, and it feels like a hidden gem. I’ll definitely be coming back—highly recommend it to anyone who loves camping!

Large Group Riverfront Camping
It was a very beautiful property. It would be great for small get-together. The driveway is really steep, but is plenty accessible. All in all would recommend to anyone me and my family had a great time.

Small Group Pavilion Tent Camping
Loved staying at this place and M made us feel right at home the pavilion was very clean and there was fun music playing on the radio when we pulled in. We appreciated camping out of the rain after 2 days of wet camping in Florida. Having power and a hose next to the pavilion made it all the better. Also enjoyed all the toys like kayak, frisbees, soccer balls. Nice property to explore.

My family loved tent camping at this site. The St. Mary's River wraps around the property so you have river views from every corner. We enjoyed all the activities: campfire, kayak, fishing, naps on the beach sand. It was all wonderful. The owners created thoughtful touches around the property including lights, fans, and spare camp chairs under the pavilion, a kayak to take out, and a built-in port a potty structure with side sink and soap. Land is easy to access based on owner directions and in a great area if you need to leave camp to get necessities. We will definitely be back!

Great location with river just nearby! Super large space for just a couple of friends or even a large group! Lots to do and plenty of sun!
