A Serene Second Night

After a late night out, I started my second day at The Oaks with an early coffee run and breakfast, then came back to soak in the scenery—and that’s when I was like I have to stay again. The property is incredibly quiet and beautiful, with a peaceful energy that’s hard to find. I hadn’t had much downtime the day before, but this morning gave me a chance to check things out.
I took a ride up to the Citrus Tower and enjoyed another coffee at their fantastic little shop, then spent the rest of the morning thrifting at local shops (always a favorite pastime). Later, I made my way to Lake Louisa—my absolute favorite spot in the area—and honestly, I want going to go there but I needed to see more nature. And it didn’t disappoint .
I’m already thinking about coming back for a longer stay just to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. For anyone looking for a solid base near Disney but away from the “bubble”, or Clermont, or Orlando. This is the spot for you.
Oh, and I almost forgot so as I was walking around and the couple times that I came in and out on the driveway, I noticed the property has a bunch of hidden gems basically art. All hidden and nestled within the property in the trees, a bunch of purpose items which is right up my alley.

Peaceful, Practical, and Perfect.

I booked last-minute for a quick trip that included visiting friends in Clermont and heading into downtown Orlando that evening. The location was ideal—just a few miles from my friends and close enough to Disney for easy back-and-forth drives.
The host asked me to text or call about 15 minutes before arrival so they could meet me at the road, wave me in, and guide me directly to my site. That kind of personal touch made arrival smooth and stress-free.
Though I didn’t spend much time at the property itself, I slept incredibly well. The site was quiet, stable, and felt safe—perfect for recharging. Everything was exactly as described, and the hosts were responsive and accommodating.

Unfortunately we didn’t have a good experience. The alternate entrance was not able to be seen from the road, the only sign was the host waving to us but by the time we saw her it was too late we had to go a few miles before we could turn back with our trailer. The camp pitch was fairly narrow, so when we saw 3 broken limbs hanging over the camper and one over our truck we had to take our fence and what not and move up as far as the elec cord would reach. The area had golf ball sized rocks under your feet and sloped to the left just enough to feel unsteady. With no apologies from the host, only to say “oh you could have moved over”, sorry who’s responsible when my Airstream gets damaged. Anyway we won’t go back again.

Very nice spot on a little pond with interesting birds to watch. Nice gadgets on the premises like swings and various lawn furniture. Good place to relax. Very friendly host. Definitely highly recommendable. Power, water on the site and great outdoor shower. Thank you for having us🙋🏼♀️

This is a very neat little site down on the side of the lake. There is an abundance of birds to take pictures of or just enjoy. The host was very cordial.

Loved this eclectic, beautiful spot! Wes met us upon arrival and was very welcoming. The site was nice and private with a view of the pond and a family of cranes that visited each evening. We found great hiking and biking trails within minutes, and we tried to watch a SpaceX launch but it kept getting scrubbed. Wes and Tanya were very responsive, offered fire wood for our campfire, and provided a place for trash and recycling. Definitely 5 stars and hope to return!

Our stay at Site 420 – Clermont / At Shady Oaks was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we reached out to Tanya and Wes, they were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. We had a few questions before booking, and they responded quickly, making the process seamless. They even allowed us to check in early, which was a huge plus for our family!
The site itself was perfect—nestled in a peaceful, natural setting with a beautiful view of the lake. We were lucky enough to see large herons with their babies right next to us, adding to the magic of the experience. It was the perfect spot to relax and soak in nature, all while being just a short drive from Mount Dora, which made for a great day trip.
Tanya and Wes went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Their communication was fantastic, from providing clear directions to checking in on us to make sure we were comfortable. It’s clear they take great care in maintaining their property and making their guests feel at home.
We truly appreciate their kindness and hospitality and can’t wait to return. If you’re looking for a peaceful and well-maintained spot to camp with wonderful hosts, this is the place! Thank you, Tanya and Wes, for an amazing stay!

Camping with the cranes!

We loved camping on site 420. We overlooked the water and enjoyed the family of cranes and other wildlife. The directions to get there were easy to follow and Wes was great to show us around and gave extra information about where places were in town when we asked. Tanya and Wes are great hosts and their place was great! I would recommend this spot to everyone!

Shady Oaks is a wonderful setting for camping. Lots of wildlife to observe around their pond and property. You are in the country, but still close to Clermont and Winter Garden for restaurants, etc. Wes and Tanya truly enjoy sharing their property with others.

We stayed in site 420 right next to a lovely, clean pond, where two sand cranes were nesting. Very private spot with fabulous views in every direction. The lighting around the fire pit / kitchen area made it very festive and beautiful. Extremely well maintained. This was our 2nd visit and both times were exceptional, despite a little rain. Our hotspot worked great, and I visited the local library to download some movies. Good water, electric, easy in and out (lots of room to maneuver). Excellent hosts - friendly, there if we needed them, and left us to our peaceful retreat. Go!!!

This was a local staycation for me. Beautiful pond side space with 30amp power and water. Easy and spacious back in. Host was there to greet and give directions. Responded quickly to messages. Some road traffic and fire station nearby could be heard but not loud enough to be disturbing. I slept well. Nice fire pit and outdoor BBQ area. Outdoor solar shower available but I did not use as weather was about 40°😬. Publix grocery store about 5 miles away. Good access to Florida Turnpike. Highly recommend and will stay again.

Beautiful site. We booked this site for our daughter’s softball tournament at Hancock Park. We had a great time. The host was friendly and met us at the entrance. We had a 15 min drive to the ball fields, and it was nice to come back to camp & grill, play board games. & relax by a quiet fire after a long day of tournament play. The property is clean, quiet, dog friendly. We felt very safe. There is a super cute common area with large fire pit, outdoor kitchen and bathhouse. Our site (420) on the pond had its own fire pit and picnic table as well. Easy to get to, but feels rustic and exclusive. This was our first time Hipcamping and it was a great experience.

I stayed at the site on the pond and I don't think I've ever been so relaxed. There was a Sandhill Crane family that lived out in the middle of the pond, and a hawk that visited every day. It didn't hurt that the weather was perfect.
The Hosts were extraordinary and helpful as I'm a solo female on a shakedown trip in a new-to-me travel trailer.
I will absolutely go back there and highly recommend it.

2 sites convenient to Winter Garden, Clermont, Minneola, and the West Orange Trail. Site 405 requires both water hose and power extensions but comes with a table, benches and fire pit. Site 420 is more secluded and is right next to the pond. Both sites are spacious, but 420 a bit more so. The host was responsive and friendly. Will definitely consider again the next time there are activities in the area!

If you love HUGE OAK TREES AND SPANISH MOSS, book immediately! This place is breathtaking with nature!!!! Absolutely loved the view. Great hosts. Tanya greeted me at the entrance, gave me a tour and even her phone number for anything I might need. The common area is so cute. It would be amazing to camp there as a group! I felt completely safe in the area as a solo traveler. Would have loved to have spent more time there exploring the grounds, but unfortunately it was just an overnight stop to lay my head.

Awesome hosts, we had a nice visit exploring this part of Florida. The location was great as it was centrally located to visit the sites we wanted to visit. Loved the outdoor shower. Very private spot. Had a great visit.

Take a walk around the property

Wes met us at the road to their property to be sure we made it in ok cuz it was dark. We had some RV issues on the way, but Tanya & Wes were very understanding. He gave us a quick rundown of where everything was & made sure we didn't need any help getting the trailer & RV situated before heading inside his home. Great hosts!
Their property is just gorgeous. They have a lot of areas to sit and enjoy the weather and scenery along with areas to entertain. You have to take a walk around the property to see all the different & unique things that make this place great.
Pros & cons...
Pros
- enuf room to drop 16 ft trailer onsite, back in 32 ft rv & still have large area of site open.
- semi-private site
- outdoor shower has excellent water pressure
- plenty of shade
- hosts loaned us their rake so I could tidy up the site
- country setting
- the amount of effort hosts have put into making their property easy to enjoy
Cons
- large fire ants (the wood that had been set onsite for fire pit was infested badly with fire ants, so we sprayed the wood down & threw it all in fire pit)
- as soon as you turn the water off in the shower the mosquitos start attacking in force (take some citronella candles)
- We have motorcycles & almost dropped one trying to back up to leave due to the amount of soft sand at edge of site.
We had a very peaceful & enjoyable stay here. We felt safe & able to relax. There will always be bugs, but Shady Oak is 1 of a kind. Ty Tanya & Wes!
