New Sky’s bones are those of an old settler’s homestead in the San Luis Valley that dates back to the early 1900’s. Nestled up against the Rio Grande National Forest, it is a high mountain desert oasis that holds the original dance hall of the county and a whole lot of history. New Sky Ranch is a wild, wild place. We are not only off grid, but also nestled in a large natural caldera (meaning a volcano that has collapsed on itself) and are right next to national forest. This means that we can experience all 4 seasons in a single day - having extreme winds and rain in one moment, and clear summer skies the next! We invite you to not only be prepared for this, but to lean into the experience as this unique high alpine environment can be one of the most inspiring and epic places on earth. We are currently fixing up what is already on the property for an eco-experiential retreat as well as a space for like minded artists to take refuge and create magic on the land. We currently have our workshop and studio space up and running as well as the first of several livable structures completed - an 100 year old rehabbed miners cabin using Hempcrete and other natural materials, complete with a communal outdoor kitchen. We also have begun hosting our first artist/maker residents who are using the shop space and land to bring their own creations to life. Over time, we have dreams of permaculture farming, eco building workshops, community collaboration, and the ability to host gatherings – however, we are committed to taking it all one step at a time and allowing only what is meant to be to unfold. For now it is simply our home, a maker space for art and experimental eco building, a gathering spot for friends and a quiet Hipcamp spot.

The hosts were friendly, helpful and have a beautiful property! We enjoyed our weekend away and the sites were comfortable and well-organized. The convenience of the well-stocked kitchen made our stay even easier. Night skies are pretty incredible here. And Rumi, the resident shepherd, is an absolute sweetheart. Thank you for a peaceful weekend away from chasing life.

Beautiful, remote high desert property with epic days and starry nights. Very peaceful. Bathroom and kitchen amenities are great and complete with everything you'll need. There's a sauna, firepit and even a pizza oven! Highly recommended. Thanks Gigi and Victor!

This felt like a magical gift from the universe. Found it last minute and it was definitely off the beaten path but that was what I wanted. It felt like being at the center of the universe with views all around the canyon especially at night. The wolves howling and the nighthawks grunts were the only sounds at night and it was so peaceful! The hammock swings were also a really nice touch. The hostess and her dogs were very friendly and helpful too! I will absolutely stay here again.

This was such a beautiful stay. My boyfriend and I stayed here on a cross country road trip, and we felt so rested and rejuvenated. The bathrooms and showers are so cool and well made. The kitchen is also amazing, it was fully decked out and had all sorts of spices and pots and pans— it made our breakfast so much easier! We loved hearing all the wildlife and being in such a beautiful secluded area!

We are going to come back. The stars were unreal. The views in the morning as the sun rose were stunning. The description and pictures don’t do it justice. We stayed in one of the glamping tents with two dogs and there was plenty of room and it was plenty comfortable. The communal kitchen had everything we needed and the fire pit (next to the kitchen) was in a beautiful grove of trees. Victor was so nice and helpful, too. We loved their dog, Rumi, who was so sweet, but had to ask for some space as our two dogs needed some space due to unique circumstances: victor helped and kept Rumi in their cabin (thank you, Victor). Thank you again!

Gigi and Victor’s place is quiet, well thought out, and peaceful. The tent and plant form were sturdy, well built, and held up comfortably in the thunderstorm. We didn’t get the view of the stars, so we will be back!

Although I couldn’t make a fire at my tent location, soon after arrival evening time came, and one by one the star show started. No campfire needed. The dark sky out here is AMAZING! Complete awe with the stars. And it’s dead quiet, except for the occasional yips of the animal reserve next door. I was on a solo silent retreat and I felt very safe here. Shady Grove tent was in a perfect spot. The grove prevented being blinded and hot when morning came. Loved I can stand up in the tent. The platform bed a plus for the older set like me, but bring extra padding if your a side sleeper like me. I did and I had perfect sleep. I highly recommend a stay at New Sky Ranch, Shady Grove tent.🥰Thank you Gigi!

The land was beautiful and the tent was cozy and clean. The host reached out in advance to ask about the best bed setup which was so nice, and the one double and two singles for the kids were all very comfortable, maybe the most comfortable beds we had the whole trip! The kids loved playing with the games in the trunk. We had a nice walk up the hill before bedtime, and the whole atmosphere of the space was inviting and peaceful. What a special stop on our journey exploring the state! We wish we could have stayed longer. The kids also made friends with the kitties and Rumi which they loved.

I had such a restorative stay tent camping at New Sky Ranch. Gigi and Victor were warm and welcoming hosts who made me feel comfortable right away. I especially appreciated how thoughtful Gigi was checking in to make sure the noise from the artist in residence wasn't bothering me (I hadn't even heard it). The outdoor kitchen/lounge is a really cool space. I was out adventuring more than I'd initially planned so I didn't hang out there much, but appreciated the friendly waves whenever I drove by. The bathrooms were great--well stocked and clean, and I was so grateful for the sink and outdoor shower. I had a very positive experience and would stay there again.

Beautiful place!! Right when we arrived, we saw the most amazing full rainbow. Be sure to go outside of your tent once it is dark because Oh My STARS!!! So bright and dense! The el bano was nicer than expected, but much farther away from the tent than I expected. Although the description of the tent site said glamping, it was still quite primitive. Bring a flashlight and extra warm clothing or blankets. It was cold at the end of July. Gigi was very kind and helpful. We hope to stay again!!

Absolute gem! (Pun intended) We loved our stay here. Gigi and Victor have such a lovely plot of land and I'm so grateful they are sharing it. We loved their modern farmstead and it was so cool to learn about how they've transformed this wilderness into a livable area. 5/5 recommend for campers.

This land is breathtaking and sacred, felt right at home! Wish I had more time to stay, awoke in the middle of the night to the starriest of skies, so quiet, vast, and cozy in the tent. Would highly recommend. I will be back :)

We loved the privacy of the camp area we were in (shady grove) it's a good place to visit if you're wanting to really disconnect from reality and just be for a bit. Beautiful views and loved just being in nature, Gigi and Victor were super kind and inviting. We had to leave early because of a family emergency and they were super understanding and accommodating. I would totally recommend them!

Such a beautiful, unique place! We only spent one night but it was great. Gigi is so welcoming and accommodating! It was so fun to hear the wolves at night and in the morning. Definitely bring bug spray and clothes to cover up. The bugs were pretty bad. Otherwise it’s great!

This was the perfect stop on my way to Boulder. I camped in my car and loved waking up to the sun cresting the mountains. And you could see the Milky Way at night! The shared kitchen has every tool you need to make some delicious camp food. At night we made a fire and it was lovely to sit with the hosts and talk about everything and anything. They are lovely. I had mentioned I would love to create in the morning and Gigi left out some watercolors and paper for me. It was a beautiful experience to create under the trees. I will definitely be back!
