Tipi tranquility
We loved the experience of sleeping in a teepee. Don went above and beyond to make it comfortable! We were a little chilly but the propane firepit kept it warm.

Awesome place to camp! And Dan and his wife are fantastic people. Close to Fairplay and Alma. Great location, great property and great people.

Great setup in the tipi. Unfortunately not waterproof and we did get rained on so we were wet and didn't stay the second day.

Everything about this place was great! The tipi is awesome, the area is gorgeous and very secluded, and Don is a great host. Additional perk: gas fire pit in the tipi and gas grill - made cooking and staying warm a breeze during a fire ban!

Don met us as we pulled into the pine forest. The Tipi sits behind the house and is along a small pond. The propane fire in the tipi kept us cozy all night (30 degrees) and the propane grill provided made making dinner and breakfast easy. They also had a hose for cleaning up pans. In the morning a couple moose walked right through where I was brewing coffee. We loved the experience!

Don was a gracious and informative host. His property is in a great location and the Teepee was super fun. The gas fire pit in the tent kept us warm through the cold night. I would definitely recommend a stay here.

Don and his Tipi were a great experience! He took our booking last minute and was so gracious as to help us start a fire and show us the site. It was 9°F at night and we were still warm and comfortable in the tipi. The stars were spectacular and so was the Mountain View we woke up to! We would definitely stay here again when we are in town next!

This was my son's first time camping outside our backyard. The tipi blew his mind. We enjoyed sitting around the "fire" inside and keeping toasty until bed.
Pros: Gas BBQ grill and picnic table; not far to parking; en suite gas fireplace with camp chairs; reasonably comfy queen bed with some bedding provided (as Don told me, bring a sleeping bag); wifi helped us stream music in the tipi--definitely an appreciated twist on camping.
Cons: Walking to the crapper at night (if you must) can be interesting; be mindful if there are dogs about.; dusk to dawn light nearby.
I'd recommend this site for the tipi, friendly folks, and amenities.

The area is SO beautiful and the host, Don, is very kind. My family thought the teepee was fun. Being able to warm up with a fire before bed and right when we woke up was very nice.
We ended up having to leave early, because my two year old was having a tough time after missing his nap, and we didn't want to disturb the other guests. Don was super nice about it though.

It was perfect night in the trees. I slept so comfortably in the bed that it was hard to get up and hike!
We had two people sleep in the tipi and one outside in hammock. The location was east to get to and near many hikes which was just what I hoped for!

Don was very helpful when we arrived. Even pulled an electrical cord from his house for us! The spot is very quiet and scenic as well. Our friends were staying in the tipi and he had done a marvelous job of shoring it up so that they stayed high and dry.

We really enjoyed staying in Don’s tipi. He was a friendly gracious host-got us settled in and then we hardly saw him again for the weekend, unless we needed something. He provided a propane fireplace which was awesome and kept us warm, a grill and gas for cooking, bedding, fresh water, etc. it was more than we expected and we were so pleased! Would definitely stay again.

Hi! Our host was super nice and friendly. He took us on a tour around his property and it was a beautiful area. Theres also tons of wildlife and almost no human interaction. We saw a young Bull moose in front of our campsite and when we went to town we saw a Bald Eagle! 9/10 recommend and we will definitely stay again.

We enjoyed the quietness of nature all around us and the beautiful view of multiple 14k mountains! We were able to enjoy summiting one during our stay. Our only disappointment was not seeing a moose while we were there, although we believe we heard one nearby. We can't wait to visit fairplay again!

Don was a welcoming host and his land provided a great spot to camp and a relatively short drive (30-45 min) to a lot of amazing day hikes. I highly recommend the Bison Summit Peak Trail near Jefferson that you can find on AllTrails. By far the most beautiful hike I have ever been on.

Host was nice but site was misleading. It was part of his front yard next to the driveway!
Also while we were there a companion of the host was pants-less in plain sight using the restroom also in the front yard! It felt way too dangerous to stay there for the night with my fiancé so we left and got a hotel!
0/10 do not recommend!!!!

...but way better! Don's property is a great little slice of Park County. Close enough to Fairplay to run into town, but sufficiently down a county road that you feel disconnected. There are neighboring properties, but we only saw a few people and they were fleeting. Don was waiting for us to arrive and showed us the site. The site itself is between the road and the house, but there's almost no traffic on the road and I hardly saw Don after setting up camp.
Very active wildlife area. Second morning we woke up to a cow moose and her calf not 30 feet from the tent! We watched them eat aspen leaves for a while before they wandered off in the opposite direction.
All in all, not your standard vision of camping in the trees with no houses or people in sight, but surprisingly private and peaceful.
