We really enjoyed our stay at Counterpath. The neighborhood was very cute and my husband and I took several walks. There is a coffee shop, breakfast place and a restaurant (I think it was South American cuisine...we did not have an opportunity to eat there, but it looked interesting!) within a couple of blocks. We picked zucchini and apples from the garden and enjoyed them. The location has a food pantry weekly, but it did not interfere with any of our plans. I never met Tim in person, but he was good at communicating via text/hipcamp messaging. I would stay there again.

I loved the location and found communication with Tim and his team easy. I definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for a camping area near downtown.

The location was perfect! We took a Lyft for only $10 to get downtown. There were a lot of parks close by, too. The owner and his friend that met us were super friendly and accommodating.

We had a great stay at Tim’s spot! The location is super convenient—easy access to downtown Denver, Aurora, and some other fun neighborhoods depending on what you’re looking to do.
Tim was incredibly hospitable and kind—truly one of the nicest hosts we’ve met.
One of our favorite parts was the little fenced-in area we had to ourselves. Traveling with dogs, it’s rare to find a space like that, and it made a big difference for us and our pups.
We were in a 36-foot Class A motorhome with a mid-size SUV in tow. If you’re in a similar rig, we’d definitely recommend detaching before pulling in—it made maneuvering much easier.
Overall, a great spot with a thoughtful host. We’d absolutely stay again!

Traveling through on a 3 week road trip from Seattle with our 5 year old and 2 pups. Tim’s property was great and the location was excellent. We went to a Rockies game and checked out the Museum of Nature & Science. We also were able to get reservations at Casa Bonita! Our 5 year old had a blast there!! Being from the Seattle area Denver looks and feels similar to what we are used to. We felt totally safe during our stay and on the property. Keep in mind you are staying in a neighborhood in a big city so we did see and hear some rowdier folks walking down the street out front at night. For us it was no big deal but I could see how some people who may not be as accustomed to city living might feel so keep that in mind. For us it was an awesome stay! We hope to return in the future!

Urban Living Does Have Some Risks

While I had no issues with the RV site itself. I think it is important to add context to all the positive reviews which I have no doubt our genuine but are reviews from the prospective of adults who understand and accept the risk inherent in staying a block from one the most dangerous street in Denver, Colfax Ave. Just Google "Murders Colfax Denver" and it is a monthly occurrence. If you have children below 16, it would absolutely be irresponsible to camp or bring your RV here. In all honesty even as an adult leaving the padlocked gate after dark is at your own risk. My 4 year old son and I left after 3 straights nights of gun fire and sirens flying by on 14th Ave. constantly. While the site does offer some security measures, which are appreciated, none of them will stop a stray bullet. As far as any interaction with the host I was handed the keys to the padlock gate by Don and that was it. No further instructions. Not a single follow up except to tell me it is my responsibility to make sure I don't let the garden house hooked to my RV freeze and to haul into my RV to keep it warm. At the end of the day it is all perspective and context and how you will feel about this site. Nonetheless I think it would responsible of the host to inform out of town guests the risk inherent with camping in an area that for years as been one of the highest crime areas in Denver.

For being within in the city of Denver, this hipcamp property is probably underpriced by a bit. It's quiet at night and being fenced in is a plus, as well as the tree growth around provides added security, privacy and atmosphere. Tim's a great host too. The property itself, Tim runs a food bank out of so in my logical mind the safest place to be is on this property because only the most heartless and insane of criminals would ever consider doing something to a food bank lol... but it is what it is. Tim saved me at 3 or 4 hundred bucks in hotel fees.

Easy access to things on the east side and to interstate. City water connection, 30 amp electricity, large camper space and gate to lock in camper and car. Tim is very helpful and responsive and provides tips on things in the area.

Tim is an amazing host and Counterpath is a great place to stay in the city close to downtown. Neighborhood is a little rough around the area but it is more than safe and I would highly recommend staying here if you're looking for a place to stay for a few days! Our dogs also loved having the fenced in area he allowed us to let them run around in, just keep it respectful.

Tim’s place was great! It was fenced in and private. There wasn’t much going on during the week that I was there, so I pretty much had the whole area to myself. The neighborhood isn’t the nicest, but it was right up my alley and in a super convenient location for getting anywhere in the Denver area. Gated parking made me very comfortable in this relaxing oasis in the city. I will definitely be staying here again when I come back to town.

This was our 2nd stay, and I would definitely return again. Tim is a great host, warm and welcoming! We have 3 dogs and it was nice to have a fenced in area, which also provides a little more privacy as 14th is a busier street. There's a small table and a few chairs to enjoy when the weather is nice. There's a community garden, a little library, and they host a food bank on Fridays from 5-6pm here.

Nice and quiet property in close proximity to restaurants, shopping, and downtown. There was a water spigot for a hose and
30 amp electrical hookup. Tim, was a fantastic host and made check in and check out a breeze! This is a food bank on certain days and you can even get fresh produce when available. Also, there was a free book stand to grab a book to read if you have the time!! All in all, it was a wonderful place to make a base camp and I will definitely give Tim a shout if I ever need a place again in the area!!
(I was in a sprinter van..there’s plenty of room if you’re in a RV, camper, van, or car)

If you are needing to be in Denver and not tent camping or don't care about noise, this place is great! I was greeted with fresh veggies on arrival, and didn't have to wait for the hosts to let me in. Tim checked up on us several times throughout our month stay and was very understanding about the chaos that is three dogs. We'll be back!

Such a great spot if you want to be in the city and close to anything you may need. Tim was such a great host. He provided 30amps, water fill up, and a dump station was only 10 mins away.
So many great places to eat and shop less than 15mins in any direction. It was a perfect urban camp.

Tim is a very responsive and helpful host. He communicates clearly and respectfully. We had trouble with our furnace and he contacted a friend that is knowledgeable in these things to try and help us save. The place is clean, quiet, and well maintained and there is a community garden, and community library. If you are coming by don’t forget to bring any extra books you may have around, the community will appreciate it. I would recommend this place.

We really enjoyed our two nights at Counterpath, our Denver friends warned us about the neighborhood, but we felt secure there. The chain link fence which locks, was part of it, and it was quiet. Tim was very responsive when we had questions.
Easy access to the parking spot, because we were the only ones stying there, it felt private. I am not sure if we would stay if there were others there, as it is a relatively small area.

Tim was a great host and we enjoyed our stay very much. We needed to stay in the City and everything was booked. So glad we had this option and we were happy to support the Counterpath mission! This stay is located in a transitional neighborhood but the gravel RV space is along the side of the building behind a high fence with a locked gate so we felt very safe. Our rig is a 39' 5th wheel so we had to back in carefully but once we were in, we had plenty of space for our back patio (toy hauler). We enjoyed some amazing yellow baby tomatoes from Tim's garden. If you're an ice cream fan, make sure to try Nuggs!
