Cloud 11: Secluded &amp; Close to Town

Myself and a few friends tent camped here and really enjoyed it! Camp site has ample trees for tying up a hammok and spots for tents. Location is really close to town while also being secluded which was nice. Met Dan (Megan's husband) and he showed us our spot and was overall a chill dude. Great spot if you are going to be spending a day or two exploring Leadville.

Megan and Dave's place in Leadville was perfect for me and my 3 dogs. Lots of wooded area to walk around in and right next to a 12 mile loop trail. I would definitely stay again.

Great spot! Close to town but felt very unplugged! You would never know you’re a couple minutes away from the house or town. Megan and her husband were great hosts with lots of recommendations and a sweet dog!

Everything was great! The directions to the property were clear and easy to follow, and the campsite was just like in the photograph. The site had a ton of trees, which is excellent for shade. There were also plenty of flat spots to pitch a tent, five minutes from town and trails.

Site was fine for what we needed, just a safe place to camp close to town, nothing scenic, just tucked away in someone's yard. Price was a pretty steep for the empty lot with no amenities but am guessing it was that way as it was the Leadville 100 weekend. Hosts were pleasant and easy to communicate with.

Easy access to Leadville downtown. We reserved with Megan and Dan last minute for the Leadville 100 and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Very nice and informative about where we could park and flexible about having a few extra people stop by to see our runner.

Amazing camp site! It was easy to back in our truck camper and it felt secluded as we were nearly surrounded by trees. Yet, we were just minutes from town. My partner was racing the Leadville 100 and was able to bike directly to the start line. The area was clean and our hosts incredibly accommodating to all our requests. We would definitely stay here again!

This was a great spot and Megan and her husband were super kind and generous. We had a long drive from Denver and needed to fill up our water tank and they let us do so at their house and provided great hiking options. There is a nice paved walking trail right by where we camped and close to town.

Megan and Dan were great hosts! Minutes to the best biking trails and close to town! Wonderful campsites (especially tent sites) down the short road from the host’s house are quiet and have lovely trees and hammock locations. Will be visiting again as we love Leadville and the mountain biking is awesome!

Great spot super close to town with fantastic mountain views. Megan was super helpful in directing us to the primo camp site on her property. Would recommend to anyone looking for a no frills scenic spot to camp less than a mile from the center of town.

It was a fine place for just sleeping while in our van but not really camping style. Close to town but not walking distance. Good place for staying as we didn’t use it except to sleep as we had a friend running the Leadville 100.

I camped with a group of 3, including 3 tents, and we had a great time. The land is off of the highway and tucked in far enough you can't see the main road. You can definitely hear the traffic tho, especially at night. The hosts are awesome! They met us when we drove in, and showed us the land to choose from. We were their first "official" campers and got out pick of where to camp. There are plenty of trees and it backs right up to the forest. We took day trips to paddleboard at both Twin Lakes and Turquoise Lake. All in all we would definitely recommend this spot and would return. Great find!

Camp Leadville 2 - Van, RV, or Tent

Super accommodating and very helpful when I showed up. I liked that I could just kind of pick a spot and it didn't feel like I had a lot of people around me while also staying close to the town. It still felt secluded and in nature. The house was very hands-off unless I actually needed anything which was great. Gave me kind of an isolated experience for the night I was there while also not feeling like I was too isolated from anything if I needed anything. The dog on the property is super friendly and my dog got along just fine so there were no issues there at all as well.

This was a great spot and the hosts were very friendly and helpful. We loved how close to town we were but while at the site it felt very remote. The fire wood, smores, and access to a hot tub/bathroom were also nice touches. We’d gladly camp here again.

Camp Leadville 3 - Van, RV, or Tent

The location was great for our visit to Leadville for the Leadville 100 MTB Race. There are several locations to camp - some scenic and some a little more convenient. We choose the convenient location so we could be close to town and get in and out quickly. The host family is wonderful - hospitable, kind, and good with details. Highly recommend. We will stay here again next year during the race.

Backyard camping with broken glass

The spot was very, very close to the house. Not what we wanted or were expecting for camping. We could see the house and were regularly visited by their dog. Including one visit where the dog picked a fight with our dog. There was a lot of broken glass and sharp broken metal scrap on the ground. Megan did mention this lightly before our stay, but the actual amount of broken, sharp pieces on the ground was immense. Since the spot was designated for Hipcamp, it seemed like cleaning up the land where our tents would be would have happened. No one in our 2 family group would stay here again.
