Josh Baker first lived in Southern Colorado in the early 90's as a child, but his family moved away after a short time. His desire to move back here as an adult prompted him to start bringing his own family to Colorado for vacations. They purchased land in the valley in 2014 and moved to Colorado in 2020. They are using all they've learned from years of RV adventures, to continue the park's mission of providing a clean, affordable, spacious, well-run camping facility, and to be a centrally located "base camp" and hub of information for everything this unique area has to offer. You'll be camping in the shadows of 14,000 ft. mountain peaks, in the largest high-desert alpine valley in the world, that is sprinkled with free-flowing artesian wells, hot springs and wet lands. Daily summer temperatures average 65 degrees, and it will get down into the 50's at night. That's perfect camping weather! For native American tribes, including the Utes, Apache, Navajos, and others, this valley is considered the source of life, a place where humans and spirit enter and leave this world. The valley was considered so sacred, that no war would be waged here. The ET Connection As if all of the mountains, deserts, hot springs, and sacred ground weren't enough, The San Luis Valley is also known as a UFO hot spot! UFO sightings have been reported as far back as the 1600's. • EXPRESS CHECK IN - We'll send you an email the day before your arrival, with your site number, wifi password, etc. There is no need to check in at the host site when you arrive, unless you have questions. The campground is a basic campground right off the highway. Easy to find easy to navigate through. The signs are well posted. The sites are huge and level, the shower rooms and bathrooms are incredible, they are heated and large. There are also washers and dryers in the building and a vending machine. The hook ups were new and well-placed. And best of all it is priced reasonably, considering how high RV parks have gotten.

Clean and open rv park camping. Easy to find and right off the highway. Comms with the host were good. Water, dump station, and power were included in our space. The facility’s shower/restroom/laundry center were clean and excellent. Free coffee too! Very close to the sand dunes, which we visited on the way out. Excellent stay!

This was a perfect spot to come back to for a shower after a long day at the Dunes before heading into town for dinner. The camp host and owner were extremely helpful and kind!! We were able to rent sand boards right there at camp. Would definitely recommend this place!

Plenty space between sites. CLEAN, spacious showers and good washing machines. But best of all was sitting at the picnic table, drinking coffee and watching the sunrise behind Blanca Peak. I will definitely stay here again and for a longer time. Great camping ground!

Wide and open pull thru. Site was level with plenty of room for our tow vehicle. Some ground lights but dark enough to watch the stars and moon. Easy in and out.

Only stayed for one night to break up our road trip. Booked site 14 but was changed to site 3 before we arrived. Site 3 is right next to the bathroom, didn’t notice much traffic because when we were at our camper we just decided to stay inside. There was an ok view from our window. Site 14(the one I booked) looked to have a really nice view as it’s the site on the end of the row. I guess if you book a site and really want to keep it make sure you pay the extra fee, for us it was only overnight so it wasn’t the end of the world. But I’m not sure what grid balancing their app does because while we were there site 14 was occupied, so my guess is it was someone who just requested it and because we didn’t lock it in they just moved us.

Base Camp had easy access and good hookups. The bathhouse was adequate but we didn’t use the showers so can’t comment on those. The WiFi was spotty but could have been because our campsite was on the edge of the property. Good location to stay if wanting to see Great Sand Dunes NP, which is about a 30 min +/- drive to the visitor center.

What a great campground! Sites were large and level. Lots of space between sites. Facilities were super clean and ample communication to know about the campground. Easy to get the Great Sand Dunes and other wildlife areas. We stayed in site #13 which was furthest away from highway, so very little road noise. Will definitely be visiting again!

I would never stay here. We got a phone call from a woman named Angela who told me that the city of Alamosa was going to be drilling a water well on the property and that a generator was going to be running 24/7. She wanted to know if we still wanted to stay. I said no and to cancel the reservation. That part was nice. The day of the stay I started receiving text messages from the "owner" asking us when we would arrive. I told him about my conversation with Angela. He started denying that there was anyone named Angela there and that I was wrong. He just went on and on about how wrong I was and that he was correct and would even acknowledge anything about the drilling. He was very rude and was just harassing me through text messages.

The location of the RV park was perfect. 15 minutes outside of Alamosa (Walmart etc.) and 30 Minutes to the entrance of the Sand Dunes. The laundry and bathrooms were exceptionally clean. The site felt safe and secure with plenty of space between each site. The sites came with a picnic table and a fire pit with full hook ups. The Wi-Fi signal was fantastic and there is a cell tower close by for great coverage (80mps). It was great to get a friendly wave every morning from the camp hosts.
