Solitude and Pizza
17 ft travel trailer · With kids · We got in late, and Ryon and his family were outside to welcome us. My son enjoyed petting Ryon's dogs, which run around and chase off coyotes (which made me feel safer). We'd ordered the pizza dinner, which was really delicious and more than enough food. We were glad we got it despite it being pricier than what we'd normally spend on pizza. We enjoyed chatting with Ryon while we ate, and he provided wood for a campfire, as well helpfully loaned my husband a tool to fix our trailer hitch. Since we got in late and had to leave before checkout, we didn't really get to explore or check out the place. Of note: While the listing says the sites have power, Ryon warned us prior to booking he wasn't sure if it would be available (we appreciated the heads-up). After dinner, he went inside and said he'd check on power for us; we didn't hear from him again or get a response to our text. My husband ended up hooking our trailer up to an outdoor outlet on Ryon's house; Ryon appeared cool with it the next morning. Also, while it says a picnic table is available, there was only one very small table and one chair at our site. Not sure if there was something bigger elsewhere, but fortunately, we'd brought a travel table and camp chairs. Last 1.3 miles to get there is a sandy washboard road. It was fine in the dry weather, just slow-going. The overall experience felt like boondocking, but more expensive with good food, hospitality, a little more safety. Thumbs up!
