Nestled in the scenic Tijuana River Valley, this unique 79-acre campground offers an exceptional blend of natural beauty and outdoor adventure. Located south of Spooner’s Mesa and just a mile from the Tijuana River, the campground is also conveniently situated east of the Pacific Ocean, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding valley.
This campground features 51 campsites and is the first County campground to offer yurts—comfortable, covered camping spaces equipped with doors, windows, and bed frames, accommodating groups of 6 to 10 people. Visitors can explore over 20 miles of interconnected trails perfect for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Additional amenities include a nature education center, an amphitheater, a nature play area, and a dedicated volunteer pad for 24-hour maintenance.
The Tijuana River Valley is a remarkable ecosystem where beach, sand dunes, salt marshes, and river areas converge, making it one of the few places in San Diego County to experience such diverse landscapes. The valley is home to over 340 species of birds that migrate along the Pacific Flyway, as well as various historic sites that offer stunning viewpoints. With a bird and butterfly garden, a community garden featuring 200 plots, and five ballfields, this campground is an ideal destination for nature lovers
