We loved spending a weekend at the cabin, with the highlight being lying down on the wood benches by the campfire and look at the stars. The cabin is well equipped with bed pillows a land and a battery to keep your tech things charged up ! Kitchen has cooking items and the bbq makes it easy to cook. Bathroom with hot water and bio toilets are very well thought.

A beautiful quiet stay!

Me and my partner had a lovely stay at Hellya cabin! We loved this spot especially for its view and quiet atmosphere. Parking was very close and we had a good distance from the other cabins. Keep in mind there are no heaters in this cabin but the building retained heat well at night and was cool during the day. Stuart and Janel’s dogs greeted us as we drove up and after a few barks they greeted us with snuggles! They were great company on our weekend trip. Thank you Stuart and Janel for letting us enjoy your land!

Restful location close to Julian

Location is beautiful, and the hosts have done so much work to make the property attractive and restful. The cabin was perfect for us, but others should know that the structures are very rustic and basic. The bedding and mattress were nice. People should prepare for a more camping-like experience and they will be happy. The kitchen and bathroom would be more useable with a few tweaks, which we will let the hosts know about. Definitely bring flashlights and possibly even your own camp stove if you want to be able to easily boil water. The hike to the cabin really is 5 minutes or less, and you should plan to carry your things over to it. The solar wasn’t functioning at the time of our visit, so we got by with battery packs charged at the house, which is a compromise for the mini-fridge since it can only power it for a little less than 24 hrs.

Relaxing

It was so nice and relaxing to be in this space. I stayed in the cabin, Inyaha, and it perfectly suited my needs. There’s another nearby cabin, but it was unoccupied while I was there, so no kids playing in the playground (no shade!)… I was able to cook yummy meals on my stove, and relax amongst the mountain. I’d highly recommend to anyone seeking rest & relaxation.

My stay here was peaceful! The cabin had everything I needed and surprisingly stayed cool despite the warmer temperatures outside. The property owners dogs were so cute and friendly as well. Overall I would stay again.

Beautiful property! Very quiet and relaxing. It is less than 10 min from Julian but felt like you were 100 miles away from any city. Our cabin did not have a kitchen (which I knew) so we brought our Coleman stove. It was perfect. I would definitely go back!

Lovely, secluded and relaxing! Our children had a fun time exploring and adored the resident dog. So close to Julian, and we had a great time at the mining museum. Fun getaway with beautiful starry skies!

We had an amazing time at the Shakti cabin. It had everything we needed: small outdoor kitchen area, grill, deck, fire pit, bathroom with a hot shower. It is also in a great location; about 5 mins away from downtown Julian but far enough away to feel like you are in a remote mountain side.

Inyaha was wonderful

We had an amazing stay at Inyaha! From the moment we arrived, Stu was a fantastic host—he gave us a warm welcome, showed us around, and then gave us plenty of privacy while still being available whenever we needed anything. The property itself is stunning, with breathtaking views, crisp fresh air, and some of the clearest night skies we’ve ever seen. It was the perfect setting for a romantic getaway—quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. The accommodations were top-notch—the room was spotless, the bed was super comfortable, and the gas-powered heater kept us cozy inside, while the wood-burning fireplace on the deck made for the perfect setting to cuddle up under the stars. The bathroom and shower had excellent hot water, which was a great touch after a long day of relaxing and enjoying the outdoors. To top it all off, Stu’s friendly dog made our stay even more special! If you’re looking for a peaceful and romantic escape in a beautiful setting, this is the place. We can’t recommend it enough and would absolutely love to come back!

Cozy cabin!

My boyfriend and I have an annual tradition to go to Julian for our anniversary and this year we stayed at the Hellya cabin on Stuart and Janel’s huge property- it was the perfect blend of feeling like we were in the middle of nowhere but still had access to a bathroom, a shower, and a warm cabin to sleep in. It’s around 5 mins from Julian and is close to everything on the outskirts too! The hosts were very welcoming and they had a dog Sage that was adorable- we got along well with him :) At night you could see the stars very vibrantly and clearly from the property because there’s little to no light (not a bad thing!) There’s also a little designated fire pit we were able to light a fire in and sit by to warm us up outside. Overall, it was a great stay, we were able to make a little home for ourselves for 3 nights.

Exactly what we were looking for; we wanted a step above car camping where we could spend a night or two under the stars and surrounded by nature. The Shakti cabin was just that. The host was very welcoming and waited up past their usual check in time to greet us in the dark. The property is well maintained with trails to get you to the cabin which is surrounded by sage brush. The cabin was clean and with a little propane heater we were perfectly warm at night. It rained the second night and we were nice and dry. The cooking set up gives a nice little area to prep food and heat up coffee in the morning to enjoy on the front porch. The bathroom was clean and we had plenty of hot water. Julian is a Dark Sky community and this was a perfect spot to sit and stare at the stars next to the fire. My absolute favorite part of the stay was the dog, Sage who came to greet us in the mornings. If you’re looking for a quiet place to spend time in nature with a few added creature comforts, this is the spot.

Had a really wonderful weekend with the Janel and Stu. They were very accommodating for my weekend stay with my friend Richard. It was a very nice to be in this space as we needed time to digress and relax, and the stay was fantastic. Packing light is recommended as the cabin is a bit of a distance, and although we needed everything we brought, there is a little ways to get to the cabin. The hosts offered a cart and help, but we figured we could handle it on our own. There are lots of rocks and it's hilly at times, and the cart was hard to pull. It was a lot of muscle work to get our things to and from the cabin. Although the hike to the cabin is beautiful to walk on... Maybe a proper paved pathway would be so useful. They mentioned it is a work in progress, so maybe in time this will be easier to get to.

We stayed in the Shiva cabin/campsite on a cold and slightly rainy weekend! We'd stayed in similar hybrid campsites before and had a really lovely time at this site. Notes that might be helpful for future glampers: -Hosts were very communicative and responded quickly to any questions/concerns -Provided a wagon for getting items to and from the cabin (yes, there is a brief uphill portion) -Hosts set up tent and blankets for campers getting in late! -Other cabin/site was visible and at times audible but certainly better than most campgrounds -Brought our own sleeping bags for the cabin, which was needed for the cold weekend -Wood-burning outdoor fireplace was lovely for aesthetics but not exactly warm -Cabin battery ran out by the third day – maybe an issue for anyone relying on the mini fridge or lamps -One smaller pot and one pan on barbecue grill, so plan your meals accordingly. No lids – we used plates as lids to speed-up cooking. -Urine-diverting toilet was a puzzle for anything other than pee... Hope this is helpful! Overall, really great trip in a wonderful, peaceful location!

We loved camping here. Nice little outdoor spot, for my family of 4. You’ll definitely need a tent if you have over 2 people. Private land. Fun little creek for the kids and plenty close to everything in-town. Its a bit of a hike, to the camp ground so pack light. Have fun. We did.

This is the first time leaving a review and unfortunately i have to do it. Staying at this cabin was terrible experience for me. There was no lock on a cabin and no description about that! I was staying alone and i just had a horrific first night at the cabin. I felt very unsafe and i kept hearing noise as someone was approaching my cabin, i could not sleep at all! There was no way of me locking myself or blocking the doors. I was praying all night to see the light of day. The next day I tried to calm myself and I tried giving a cabin another chance but even during the day i had an very strange feeling, i did not have any peace and I just had to leave immediately, just a thought of spending another night there gave me chills. I am very sad how everything turned out because i had payed and took time to go to this cabin with goal to relax and reflect but unfortunately i experienced the worst night of my life.

HELLYA = HELL YA(S)

I had some rather warm days while staying in the Hellya cabin, and Stu & Janel were more than accommodating and supportive. I appreciated their absolute hospitality and genuine hearts. This land is special and they have created a peaceful retreat center, full of love and joy. An added bonus was the daily love I received from their two pups! I would hands down visit again :)

Paradise!

We loved the Shakti Cabin and the entire property! Pictures can’t do it justice. Stuart has put so much work and love into every piece of the property. The cabin was cozy and clean with so many cute touches, gorgeous views, beautiful firepit, and a deck to enjoy it all from. The creek at the middle of the property is a peaceful spot as well. Grateful to Stuart and Janelle for creating such a beautiful spot.

Loved this trip so much! Stuart and Karla were so nice to us, they really made sure we got everything we needed and were very accommodating to our request for an extra car spot which was so sweet. The views were amazing, we came for the stars and they were incredible. There was another camper there and although they were close, we never heard them or bothered each other so I would say there is a good level of privacy. The only "downside" I would say is that the door to the Shiva Cabin is very tough to open and close. Sometimes we couldn't close it all the way, but it really wasn't a big deal. Highly recommend booking this trip!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. However, a few things could be improved. There needs to be more solar as the fridge only lasts 1.5 days and we were here 3 days and woke up to a warm fridge. The water heater works intermittently. The path to Shakti would benefit from being widened as it the farthest cabin and hauling our gear and coolers was difficulty, even with the provided cart. I think the cabins and surrounding area are still being fixed up and the price is a little steep for the current condition. Stuart the onsite host is amazing and very helpful and kind.
