Super beautiful but beware :(
I REALLY liked this campsite until I got stung by a scorpion :( The site itself is beautiful, spacious, secluded, and right by the water. My friends and I were already planning to come back again sometime… The host was apparently out of town during our stay, and had a friend covering for him. He had 2 sweet dogs following him around offleash throughout the weekend which I thought was really charming (I’m a huge dog person). The dogs were also wandering around unsupervised thruout the day, which again, I enjoyed, because I love dogs. Although, I noticed one had a lump on his snout. I thought it might be a tumor, but the next day I noticed the other dog had a bloody upper lip… The host’s friend very kindly came to check on us on our second day, and I told him about the scorpion sting. He was very nonchalant and followed it up by saying “Yeah… We get tarantulas certain times out of the year too.” Then proceeded to tell us a crazy story about how the owner once saw them traveling in a drove so big he thought the road was repaved for a second. Soon after he said “We have rattlesnakes too” and told us he thinks the dogs got into it with them, hence the lump and bloody snout. Then he asked “You weren’t alerted about any of that?” No we were not, and I wish we were. I’m pretty sure my friends would still be down to go back there but sadly I won’t be returning. As lovely as it is, the scorpion sting hurt like hell and took me out for a few days. I guess nature’s gonna nature 🤷♀️
