Rock House Campground
We had a great time! The site was big, well kept, and quiet, with access to a beautiful fire pit, very clean bathroom and wonderful stargazing. There are also gorgeous spots to hike and swim nearby and great coffee at the cafe. We would definitely come back.

Great host, they were always available for any questions. The site was very clean. The bathroom and shower were very clean.

The people that run the cafe/site are very nice. The cafe is actually much better equipped than expected. The guy even walked us (and our truck) to our site which was nice. The bathrooms are good for a campground and have a shower which is a great addition. The people living long term in the site (which are very close to you like any campground) are a bit sketchy. My wife did not feel comfortable. They didn’t stay up late and party, so I didn’t mind them so much. They had a band on Saturday night at the cafe, which was a fun experience where we met a couple nice locals. I’d camp here, but I’d cross my fingers that the long term people had moved on.

The drive up was nice here and the sites have pretty views. The bathrooms are clean and new. There was plenty of firewood at the fire area for use. This was our second stay here. There are improvements from last year and there seems to be continued work done on the sights.

I had some noisy neighbors in the next site, but as far as the quality of the camp sites goes it was wonderful the host Dave was super helpful In helping us find adventures to go on and the cafe/restaurant just down the way was Terrific. We recommend getting a Bloody Mary and either the Rubin or French dip.

We enjoyed our stay. Wonderful location and friendly hosts. Close to the river, which offers a fun place to cool off during the day. We will be back for sure!

This place is great. Only about 15 to 20 minutes from town and supplies. Beautiful high elevation views. Many of the trees were burned in a past fire so you can really see all the stars at night. The host was very friendly and informative of places we could go to sight see and swim nearby. There is a community fire pit, clean bathroom, shower, and water available. We had a great stay.

This is a great campsite! Clean, quiet, and beautiful. Karen and other campers gave nice suggestions for activities. Easy access to the river a few miles up or down the road. We will definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I had a nice weekend here with our two dogs. The hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful and even gave us inside tips of beautiful local spots to swim and relax. The only downside of camping here would be that the fire pit was communal and not at each individual site. I would absolutely recommend rock house campgrounds!

We had such an incredible time staying in the yurt! Making a fire and watching the stunning sunset over the burnt forest mountain was just plain gorgeous. As were the wildflowers sprinkled all over the place!
David was super helpful and gave us great directions to find a secluded swimming hole to take a dip in. We only stayed one night, but would definitely love to return in the future. Comfy bed, easy to cook in kitchen, perfect little getaway!

We had a great time staying here the past 3 nights! It’s in a great location, close to many beautiful hikes and not too far of a drive from downtown Chico. The camp site itself was perfect and provided exactly what we needed for a peaceful getaway. The bathroom is well kept and the shower is warm(ish) If you shower during the day. Karen and David are wonderful hosts and graciously answered my many questions and even provided us with great hiking recommendations.

Interesting stay during MDW.
Pros:
- Karen & David are very sweet and have some beautiful land.
- Best bathroom I've ever seen at a campsite.
- Stunning stars at night!
Cons: The campsite was overbooked.
- Unfortunately, we were the last to arrive and had to stay in an RV site during our first night. Normally, not a big issue but note that the RV sites do not have space for a tent. We had to set up across the way from our car/picnic table. Another couple ran into the same issue during our second night.
Notes:
- Sites are first-come-first-serve, so arrive early to get your preferred spot.
- This area is incredibly windy in the late evening/early morning. Be sure to properly stake your tent and tie your rain fly!

This place was great, the hosts were the perfect amount of informative and welcoming. There are a few sites at the property so it's not quite as private as I anticipated. Some pitches might be a bit tight to get in with larger trailers. I had a 16 foot travel trailer, so I would recommend telling the hosts the size of your rig before you book.
Also, it's on a private road which is to be expected but there's not much area to walk your dogs. My dogs like multiple miles in the morning and so that was a bit challenging without going on the highway.
