This magical place is far out there! We are providing a setting for those adventurers who want a place to REALLY "get away from it all." Expect a beautiful 30 minute drive on gravel roads through mature Redwood forest from the village of Mendocino. The property is also accessible from Fort Bragg via HWY 20 and road 408/Little Lake Rd. The Aloha Cabin is a beautiful one room timber frame cabin located on a ridge top in the Redwood forest. Upon entering the gate at Old Mill Farm the Aloha Cabin is the first building you see as you come out of the thick forest and into the mixed meadow/forest ridge top of the property. Old Mill Farm is a 320 ranch in the middle of Mendocino county's 50,000 acre JDSF (Jackson State Demonstration Forest.) The Aloha sits by itself about a 1/2 mile from the rest of the ranch buildings and like the entire ranch is completely off-grid. Electricity is provided by a solar photovoltaic system and battery back up. All water is pumped with solar power and gravity fed throughout the property. You will be imbedded in the outdoors with ample opportunity to commune with the forest and the wildlife that live there. The Aloha has a kitchen equipped for cooking with refrigerator, range and oven. There is a bathroom with a flush toilet and a private outdoor shower. We provide linens and bedding for the full size bed and towels for 4 guests. There is also a sleeping loft (with no bedding included but can be added as an extra.) Please bring your own pads and sleeping bags to use the loft or pitch a tent in the front yard. The front yard is fenced and has a fire pit. Always be fire conscious - never burn outside of the fire pit and extinguish all fires before leaving or bed. You are free to relax in the natural beauty of this place, meditate while walking our earthen labyrinth or hike around the property along the ridge and on the logging roads that descend on each side. Please respect all signs and private residents. JDSF has extensive hiking and mountain bike trails accessible right from the cabin or a short drive away. Aloha cabin was the perfect escape! The cabin itself was very clean and had all of the essentials for a cozy stay. The setting is extremely peaceful & serene and was the perfect place to relax & disconnect.

We had a wonderful stay at Aloha Cabin! The property is secluded, peaceful, and perfect for unplugging. We loved exploring the abundant land, and the night sky was incredible—we could even see the Milky Way. The yard and fire pit made evenings extra cozy, and our pets enjoyed it just as much as we did. Inside, the wood stove kept us warm and comfortable, and everything worked perfectly. The cabin has a charming, eco-friendly feel with cool history and plenty of books to browse. It was exactly the cozy getaway we were hoping for. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Aloha Cabin
Aloha Cabin sits among beautiful trees and a quiet forest - perfect for real quiet time in nature. Going off-grid, watching the fire glow at night, and then curling up in a cozy, comfortable cabin that had everything we needed felt so good. Cas was helpful and quick to respond, and the books about the farm’s story made the place feel personal and special. We’d recommend this cabin to our best friends - and we’d love to come back.

Aloha Cabin
My boyfriend and I loved it here! You really feel, and are, separated from everything and it’s great that the cabin has everything you need. So incredibly peaceful and we really appreciated all the trails that were left for us on a map inside the cabin. You see the rare biker group or car pass by but other than that, no one else around. Bit of a rough drive once you get off the highway but if you come prepared with a car that can handle that, you’ll be just fine.

Off grid cabin deep in the trees!

Adorable off grid cabin in the heart of Jackson demonstration forest with beautiful redwood trees and roads and trails right outside your doorstep. Very comfortable and super easy communication. A great getaway for sure!

The Aloha cabin was the perfect weekend getaway. We loved how secluded it was. Being off-grid, the stars, the outdoor shower…everything was amazing! Our dog loved it too. We’re excited to go back soon!

This was such a cool and peaceful place to stay for a few days. We stayed for 3 nights and it was wonderful. Cas was communicative and helpful. The property was peaceful and there was lots to do. Everything on the listing page is accurate. We would definitely consider visiting again if we decide to go back to that area. Loved it!

Old Mill Farm is a super sweet, peaceful area for camping with a quaint cozy lil cabin with kitchen & bathroom. We loved having fires outside in the evening. It is a ways out, but totally worth the beautiful drive through the Jackson State Forest. It’s a magical little oasis! ✨🌲🏕️

The nature of the property was breathtaking. The cabin was very charming and had all the features we needed. Loved staying on the top loft. It was great having a fire pit and plenty of space for tent camping outside, which my brother wanted to do. Cas was very responsive and hospitable. There is just everything you need to make this camping experience exactly what you want it to be.

This was just an incredible stay for our family at the Aloha cabin. It was the perfect amount of disconnect and comfort. Most of my family slept outdoors in tents and hammocks, but two of us slept indoors on a comfy bed. The hot shower was amazing, and the option to cook all our food was ideal. We spent some days at the beach and exploring the coast, and other days at the cabin soaking in the magical redwoods and serene environment. Cas was an exceptional host that provided a beautiful home and absolutely perfect setup. We will be back!

This is our second time staying at this magically secluded property. It’s a trek in on a long dirt road, but once you’re there, it’s such a peaceful and cozy cabin stay. We’ll be back again!

The Aloha cabin was wonderful and Cas is a great host! The forest is calming and the cabin tranquil. Such a peaceful place to reconnect to nature. In this high tech age it was perfect for my husband and I to reconnect without distractions. I would recommend Cas and the Aloha cabin.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin tremendously. We had 4 adults and 2 kids and were able to make it work comfortably with the addition of a blow up mattress. We could see all the stars at night and made s'mores around the campfire. The cabin was clean and cozy. It is in a remote location but that's part of what we liked about it. Great memories for the kids and the adults had a relaxing time drinking wine out on the front porch. We'll be back

Great place to get away and disconnect. Very private and the cabin has it all! The road to get in was a bit nerve wracking at first, but it’s not too bad. I’m already thinking about coming back!

What an amazing place deep in the redwoods! Aloha provided a great solo retreat spot. It included hiking, reading spots under the redwoods, fields to lay a blanket on, a labyrinth, breakfasts on a giant table in the yard, outdoor shower, a deck to listen to the owls and a puzzle table in the sweet cabin that met all my needs! I will definitely be back for a solo retreat and with my family and friends! Thank you, Cas, for your cabin the woods!

We had a very nice stay, beautiful country out here. The cabin was run on solar panels and batteries which was cool, no issues w power. Spacious cabin, fenced in yard, but most importantly lots of land and logging roads to go explore. This place is DEEP, like 30 mins from civilization. Absolutely loved it. Met the family that owns it by chance and they were very nice people. Would definitely stay here again.

Very cozy and clean cabin, it has everything you need. Outdoor shower was great, the cabin it's fenced all around the front so we could let our dog run around with no worries. Felt safe and peaceful and best of all quiet. We would recommend to bring a little fan during the summer because it could get warm inside the cabin. Our host was very responsive and helpful. The dirt road to the cabin was fun and easy enough to get to.

Unwind in the Redwoods

What a beautiful peaceful place to unwind ! The cabin is very clean and spiderweb free:) the amenities are perfect and a very efficient plumbing hot shower etc . You definitely are miles deep in the woods so bring your mountain bikes ? Extra spices for cooking etc as it’s about 30 minutes back to Mendocino. Plenty of land to hike be amongst the redwoods.

We had the best time at the Aloha cabin. It was my first time glamping though my husband is a nature lover. We loved how close it was to the beach. The fire pit was perfect for cooking meals and s’mores! The yard is fenced in so our dog even had a great time! Cas was an amazing host and very responsive to all my questions! We will definitely be back!

Awesome cabin in redwoods

This was amazing. Well equipped cabin surrounded by mature redwood forests in every direction. No wifi or connectivity but that made it better for getting off grid and reconnecting as a family. Outdoor shower with warm and cold water was a bonus we did not expect. At the same time you’re only 30-40min to downtown Mendocino for groceries, good cafes and getting to all the great coastal activities in the area (kayaking, beaches, rockpooling). Cas lives further down the road and was a super helpful when we accidentally locked ourselves out of the cabin. Being up the mountain from Mendo means it got a bit warmer but was nice to balance colder coast with a warmer inland location. I recommend the firewood add-on given great fire pit and stunning location for fireside cooking and hang outs. Our kids (6yrs old) really enjoyed exploring the forest. The cabin is close to a trailhead for the Chuck Hench trail in Jackson Demonstration State Forest. I recommend downloading the maps and trail info before you arrive (we used the Gaia app).

My wife and I and two teenagers just spent two days at the cabin. Our family loved the experience, being able to spent time together, making stores, with the beauty of the surrounding forrest. The cabin is a combination of of modern amenities in a tradtional cabin Would highly recommend!!!

The cabin is very lovely. It is really off the grid - no cell service, solar power, and water well. But we didn't have any problem with power, barely used 10% of the battery per day. Did I mention there is no service? As a result, entertainment had to be provided the old fashioned analog way. But perhaps it is a good thing. Given that the location is deep in the forest one need to be mindful of the wild animals. And the drive there is really tricky. 4-wheel drive is not needed (on good weather), but high clearance is recommended.

The cabin was unbelievable - private, immaculately crafted, and supremely comfortable. Cas gave us detailed instructions for how to get there, and we had no trouble despite being intimidated by the instructions and some of the reviews! This is a really special place and we are so grateful to Cas for sharing it with us. I would love to return some day!

We absolutely loved this cabin! Literally in the middle of thousands of trees. Could not get any better than that. The fenced in area was perfect for our dog to fun freely in! The cabin had everything we needed and it was extremely cozy. The drive to the cabin was bumpy, muddy, and wet, but that made it even more fun. It was very much secluded! Amazing little spot, we can’t wait to be back.
