Michelle's Magic School Bus is an homage to the Merry Pranksters, the Grateful Dead, and all of us who dreamed of living in VW Vans.
It is rustic, in the woods, and peaceful.
It could be a good escape for an adventurous group, or like me, someone looking for peace. The bathroom is well-provisioned for hikers, and comfortable.
The real star of this property is the owner, Michelle.
She guided me regarding hot springs, hikes, kayaking, lakes, lava tunnels, waterfalls and the places to eat in the area.
Her knowledge extended beyond the county, throughout all of Norcal, and into Oregon.
She is the best tour guide who ever rented me a magic bus!

I enjoyed my stay in Michelle’s bus! It’s definitely a glamping situation, but much more comfortable than sleeping in a tent. The location is a peaceful wooded lot in a small neighborhood of mountain cabins. The bus interior is older but felt very spacious, and came with a bare bones kitchen set up including a hot plate and mini fridge. There were a couple of cups and small pans but if you want to prepare anything elaborate you may want to bring your own pots/pans/utensils. The queen mattress was very comfortable! Theres a shared bathroom in the main house that was clean and easy to access. Michelle and her huskies were very friendly. The bus is located close to the road so if you’re sensitive to lights/sounds from vehicles you may want to bring an eye mask or earplugs.

Michelle is a wonderful, warm and beautiful human being.
She makes you feel right at home at her incredibly unique stay in the woods.
If you’re on your way to Shasta, it’s well worth staying in Shingletown at an astoundingly comfortable stay in a modified school bus.
Her husky-wolf dogs are wonderfully friendly and also great company.
