What a beautiful place to visit! I booked a 3 night stay in site 2. It fit the prius perfectly with a raised area to pop a tent. quiet and serene-the perfect place to enjoy nature and the occasional wildlife. There was no signage but the host sent perfectly detailed instructions so that even the directionally challenged folks can find it easily. It is a primitive camp with a rv toilet and separate urinal for men. Limited water for the toilet and a hand washing station. Wildfire risks dictate no fires but you can use gas powered burner for cooking. Pack out everything you bring in. The sites were incredibly free of any garbage. There is no place directly on site to hike or explore but the ocean was a ten min drive away. overall a great place to go!
We really enjoyed our two nights here. We were on site 2 and it was tight with our CRV. If you had a big truck, you definitely wouldn't fit. But the site was perfect for us.
The site was nice and quiet. There was only one other campsite used for one of the nights we were there. Beautiful trees!
My one complaint was the toilet: It was really hard to get toilet paper "flushed". It was also a really steep ramp to get up to the toilet.
Other than that, it was a great, inexpensive, quiet place to enjoy near the coast!
the site was not easy to find for us as others were saying and there was a private property chain fence that we weren't told we would have to move ourself so we kept thinking there was no way it was that one. then we got there and the sites are basically parking lot close to each other and small. At that point we didn't really care it just wasn't the best but then the bathroom was awful it was in this mini trailer with a tarp door, it was very dirty and even when I followed the instructions to spray down the toilet before using it still did not flush even when I had my foot on the petal and sprayed it? then the mens room was a plastic tall tube cut up that your support to pee in. when we were their it was raining and only the toilets themselves were covered, so the hand washing station was outside and we were getting poured on while trying to brush teeth with no soap or towels. every other campsite we stayed at on our road trip hand a covered bathroom with running water, a shower, more space, AND they were cheeper. Save your money it would be worth driving a bit farther for a different site.
We loved the huckleberry house. The directions to get there were easy and the key was exactly where it was supposed to be. It was clean and cozy for my husband and I. The kids slept in their tent with their cousins. Our family rented all the sites, so we didn’t use all the amenities at the tiny house. We cooked at the group area, and it wasn’t cold enough to use the space heater but I loved that it was an option. It was comfortable and a cute tiny house. We spent most of our time out at the main campsite but having the tiny house to take a break and to sleep was definitely worth it. 10/10 going again and definitely staying in the tiny house again.
I loved camping at huckleberry campsite. It was the whole family and we had a great time. We took up all the spaces and loved the privacy. Easy drive to the river and the beach. Having a working sink was great as was the portable potty that was emptied by the owners of the property. They were so helpful and showed the kids where to pick huckleberries and blueberries. 10/10 definitely going back.

This is clean & generic, a manufactured shelter. The ceilings are comically low. It does the job. For that, I would stay again. This being said, I enjoy sleeping in a backpacking tent and under the cap of my pickup.
I cannot speak to the bathroom. Neither my son, nor I, used the toilet or shower.
I cannot speak to the kitchen. We stored only unopened beverages in the fridge. The kitchen is tiny with extremely limited counters and workspace. NOTE - Instructions at the unit indicate to use only one power draw at a time due to the solar system. We used the fridge.
Please don’t arrive expecting anything cute or luxurious. It is neither. I was surprised to find a cute little mouse sharing the loveseat with me. I didn’t sit there again. I stored my food and beverages in my truck.
For a place to sleep, I’d return. For a place to relax, hang out, cook, and socialize, I would not.
The camp was a good location, easy to get to a few different spots for hiking along the coast. The site was also quite.

I liked having the setup for toilet, with the lights.
We were completely alone there, so we were uncertain at first, but figured it all out I don't recommend anyone camp in space #2 if you have any vehicle..

Site 2 was a tight but cozy fit for our truck (‘03 tundra with camper shell) I wouldn’t recommend this site for a rig any larger or multiple vehicles, but we enjoyed our peaceful nook. it was nice and quiet with awesome dark skies at night and beautiful light coming through the trees in the morning. we brought our own drinking water and packed out all of our trash, compost, and recycling (I don’t think there are any receptacles on-site). Coordinates from the host were super helpful for finding the tucked-away entry to the property which is easier to spot coming from Pt Arena direction than Gualala. We were lucky on a weekday in March to have the place to ourselves and lots of privacy, but the sites are pretty close together. It would be super cool to rent out the whole place with a group, but for someone who likes privacy when camping it could be awkward if you don’t know your site neighbors. The place is beautiful, the price is reasonable, and I love visiting this area. I’ll likely come again but aim for similarly quiet timing.

Lovely little camping spot, a bit tricky to find the driveway though! Appreciated the clear directions, responsive host, and sweet, well-maintained site. Quite basic —composting toilet and potable water is limited — but a perfect place for us to pitch our tent for the night.
Loved this place! What a fantastic spot tucked away in the woods up on the ridge—peaceful, scenic, and private, yet still super close to town. Having easy access down to the river was a huge bonus and made the location feel like the best of both worlds: nature and convenience.
We happened to be there during a weekend of nonstop rain, and we were so grateful we had booked the Tiny House. It was incredibly cozy, dry, and comfortable—exactly what you want when the weather isn’t cooperating. It really turned what could have been a soggy weekend into a relaxing and memorable stay.
The owners were also wonderful—friendly, responsive, and very accommodating. You can tell they genuinely care about making the experience great for their guests.
We’d absolutely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet retreat close to town with great access to the outdoors.
We decided to book the Huckleberry House last minute on our way to visit family in Mendocino. The host's were attentive and prompt if we needed any info, and the property itself is beautiful. Huckleberry House is basically a new, one bedroom, off-grid tiny home. Uber glamping! With running water, hot water on-demand, and solar power.
The driveway was a little hard to find, but once we were there, everything was clearly labeled and easy to navigate. It was super cold that night, but the propane heater kept us toasty throughout the night. Huck House is outfitted with a stocked kitchenette, so making coffee and a simple breakfast the next day was easy and convenient. Word to the wise: don't run hot water in the kitchen if someone is in the shower! ;)
The host offered to take us to some local hiking spots and attractions but we didn't have the time. We will definitely stay there again and hopefully take them up on helping us explore the area.
Would absolutely recommend!
Huckleberry Hideaway was the perfect getaway from the Bay Area. It’s only about 10 mins from Pt. Arena or Gualala. It has a sink with potable water, toilet and even a men’s urinal. I ended up camping alone, but there was plenty of space for a 10 x 10 tent and 2-3 people per site to spread out. Nestled in the redwoods, it was shady, refreshingly quiet and peaceful. The host (Mendo) was nicely communicative, and responded quickly to inquiries. My family spends a lot of time on the coast and I hope Mendo will welcome us again soon.

This was just a quick stop for us, but it was a great quote and private place to sleep for the night!
It was such a treat to enjoy a few of the wild blueberries on our way out!
