Primitive and RV Sites with sweeping views of West Marin pastureland at True Grass Farms, a working ranch along the Estero San Antonio. Our campsites are well spaced for privacy and quiet, surrounded by birdsong, grazing animals, and the rhythms of ranch life. Each primitive site overlooks the Estero and is near a mowed grass road for easy access. It’s peaceful here at night—other campers may be nearby, but you’ll feel immersed in nature. Enjoy access to our open pastures for picnics and leisurely walks. At check-in, we’ll point you toward a few special places around the ranch and nearby area. We also offer a variety of grass-finished beef, lamb, pork, eggs, and vegetables grown and raised right here on the ranch. Primitive sites are back-to-basics: no hookups, no structures, no potable water. There is non-potable water available for washing—please bring your own drinking water. A shared composting toilet is available to all campers. A liability waiver must be signed at check-in. Winds can be strong in spring and summer, but sites are placed on the leeward side for protection. Fires are permitted when conditions allow—check with us on arrival. We’re just 10 minutes from Tomales, 15 from Valley Ford, and 3.5 miles from Dillon Beach. Bring a kayak or canoe and paddle from camp to the Pacific via the Estero. Looking for more comfort? We offer two RV sites: The Heron’s Nest is a cozy trailer tucked under a large willow, just 10 feet from the water. It includes a queen bed, kitchenette, indoor composting toilet, outdoor shower, firepit, and direct Estero access—perfect for two guests. The Badger’s Den is a private full trailer with a queen bed, kitchen, dining area, indoor shower, and composting toilet—plus a private sauna, in-ground firepit, and peaceful surroundings. Tucked away from the other sites and naturally sheltered from westerly winds, it’s an ideal spot to unwind, paddle, and reconnect with the land. There’s space for two small tents or one large (4-person) tent, and parking for one car comfortably—or two if parked close together. You’ll also find a fire ring for cozy evenings and non-potable water on-site (bring your own drinking water). This site includes direct river access, so feel free to launch your kayak or canoe right from camp and explore the Estero all the way to the ocean. The shared composting toilet is just a short walk away (details provided at check-in). You’ll also have access to our pastures for peaceful walks or picnics, and when you arrive, we’ll point you toward a few hidden gems around the ranch. A liability waiver is required upon check-in. We’re just 5 minutes from the town of Tomales and 10 minutes from Dillon Beach, a favorite coastal destination. Come prepared, settle in, and enjoy a truly quiet retreat. A grassy bank provide a great place to stretch out with a book, birdwatch, or just enjoy the view. There’s an easy launch area for kayaks or canoes, and the site is a great fit for a camper van or 1 large tent (or 2 small ones). While there’s no running water or fire ring, the calm setting and direct access to the water make it a favorite for those looking to unplug and slow down. The bathroom is just a short walk up a mowed trail, and parking is available for one vehicle (or two if you don’t mind a tight squeeze). Guests are welcome to explore our surrounding pastures at their own pace—great for a picnic, a walk, or simply taking in the open space. At check-in, we’ll point you toward a few of our favorite quiet spots around the ranch. A signed liability waiver is required. We do our best to leave the land better than we found it, and we ask that all visitors treat the space with care and respect. Please plan to pack out your trash and leave no trace behind. We’re conveniently located—just 5 minutes from the small town of Tomales, and 10 minutes from the wide, beautiful stretch of Dillon Beach. It’s a short walk from the shared composting toilet via a mowed trail, and is positioned close to our Owl campsite while still offering plenty of quiet and privacy. There’s space for one large tent or two small tents, and parking for one car. A fire ring by the Estero makes this a great place to gather and enjoy the evening. Please note: there is no running water at this site, so be sure to bring your own cleaning and drinking water. With direct river access, you can bring a kayak or canoe and paddle straight from camp, exploring the Estero all the way out to the Pacific Ocean. Set on the flat footprint of an old barn, this is our most easily accessed campsite, making it a great choice for families, small groups, or anyone looking for a bit less of a hike in. The site offers wide views of the Estero San Antonio and the wildlife it draws, in a peaceful and open setting. There’s space for 3–4 tents, parking for up to 3 vehicles, and a fire ring for relaxed evenings. Non-potable water is available on-site for rinsing or washing—just be sure to bring your own drinking water. The composting toilet is located a short walk up a mowed trail. You’re welcome to explore our pastures at your leisure—perfect for a picnic or a slow walk through the landscape. When you arrive, we’ll share directions to a few special spots on the ranch worth wandering to. A liability waiver will need to be signed upon check-in. We’re just 5 minutes from the historic town of Tomales, and 10 minutes from the dramatic shoreline of Dillon Beach. Bring a kayak or canoe and paddle the Estero all the way out to the Pacific—it’s a beautiful, winding trip. The walk to the campsite is 400 feet up a mowed trail from the designated parking spot, and the bathroom is a short walk downhill. Please note, this is a walk up site, do not drive your vehicle up the path to Quail's nest. There’s room for two small tents or one large (4-person) tent, and designated parking for Quail is a short walk away. You’re welcome to roam our pastures for a picnic, a quiet walk, or just to take in the space. At check-in, we’ll point you toward a few of our favorite hidden spots on the ranch. A liability waiver will need to be signed upon arrival. We do our best to leave the land better than we found it, and we hope guests will share in that care and respect for the quiet beauty of this place. Please pack out all trash and leave no trace. The location itself was nice. But… Finding the spot was a challenge. We got right to the Farm Shop. (Note: don’t confuse his discussion about the farm stand with the farm shop. ) At the shop there was only a screen grab of a google map. I spent quite a few minutes trying to discern how to get from there to there and realized in the bottom corner was a N with an arrow pointing down. Rotate the image please so that the directions are what one expects. He provided written instructions which were much better, but the step of find the green gate was slightly meaningless at night. That gate has a large NO TRESPASSING sign, so we were hesitant to stop there. I was expecting (not unrealistically I think) a Hipcamp sign or something to give us confirmation that we wouldn’t be shot trying to enter. We were at the last spot and the road was bumpy and would absolutely have benefited with some smoothing or grading. I know it is a working farm, but a little more effort would go a long way. As it turns out, we only stayed one of our two nights because it just did not seem worth the effort to try to go there and set up again so we decided to drive home.

This was my first hipcamp reservation and my first time solo camping. I loved it! I was the only one there my first night and felt secure with the gate locked behind me. Second night some other campers arrived but I did not even notice them until the next morning. Nice space a privacy between sites. Composting toilet was immaculate. Already recommended to friends! Thank you for a lovely trip!

Quiet place with tons of wildlife
The Great Blue Heron
What a lovely place. It was so quiet. When it was clear, there were lots of stars out. The place is really charming, rustic, sweet. We had an awesome fire three nights in a row. It is so close to Point Reyes with all kinds of great hiking. One day we paddled our kayaks right from our site for several miles on the estuary. We saw river otter, great blue heron, and all kinds of other birds. The hosts were kind and very responsive.

What an amazing spot! Just 10 minutes from Dillon Beach, the campsite was super easy to find—and we ended up having the entire place to ourselves! The property is beautiful, set right along the creek, and we loved relaxing by the campfire while watching cows graze nearby. The 24/7 farm shop was a huge plus—we could grab firewood anytime, and their meats and eggs were absolutely delicious. We’ll definitely be back!

The site was perfect for tent camping. It was private and scenic. Lots of bird life and close to the water. We loved being able to have a campfire. The directions were clear, toilet was clean and the host even pulled out our hamburger we ordered to thaw so we could have it for dinner that night.

The odor from the indoor outhouse was pretty pervasive, even with the windows kept open all the time. Also lots of dust and cobwebs. The place was quiet and peaceful, however, and the setting was pleasant.

This camp spot was beautiful and remote enough to feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, yet only 15 minutes from tummy places to eat. The sites are large and spaced out so you don’t hear your neighbors. The composting toilet was clean and easy to use. We stayed at Egret Nest for 2 nights and although the Creek had too much algae to use it was lovely to be right on the water and watch all of the birds.

This was a great spot. The site had plenty of space for two tents and felt very private. The stars were so bright and the sounds of nature were lovely. We brought bathing suits but did not get in the creek, it didn’t look very swimmable.

Our family had a wonderful night at at Owl Nest at Estero San Antonio Wonderlan. The instructions for coming in were spot n. We picked up beef, firewood, and bought an extra dozen beautiful looking eggs. The campsite was right down the road. The other spots were far enough apart to ensure privacy. The restroom was surprisingly tidy and smelled like cedar. The picnic table was in great shape. The firepit was well protected, and the (non-potable) water was close enough for safety and dousing. The firewood was dry and caught quickly. We enjoyed smores and the stars, and had a great night's sleep. Road sounds were minimal. Next time we might choose the site closer to the waterway - there wasn't really access from Owl. We had a great time in the area eating oysters, kayaking, and enjoying the beach. I think we'll be back!

Private campsite surrounded by blackberry bushes. The fire pit, outdoor shower, and compost toilet made for a genuine camping experience. The camper was comfortable inside and had perks like a nice bed, cookware, space heater, books, puzzles, and more.

The perfect getaway

I am absolutely staying here again. The campsite is remote — only you and the cows — so it’s perfect for a quiet getaway. I haven’t felt that at peace in a long time. Huge plus: the outhouse is very well-maintained and was such a nice addition. The farm fresh eggs were also delicious and very easy to pick up. The nearest town is only a 5 minute drive away, with a cute diner we ate at on our way out.

The Great Blue Heron
I can’t express how unexpectedly wonderful our stay at the great blue heron was! The trailer is cute and clean and in a very special spot. We wandered over to the farm and met Guido who was very gracious and welcoming. We paddled on the Estero, met deer and rabbits and cats. Just the refresh we needed. Thank you!

This is a great spot a short drive from the coast. Everything was just as advertised in the online description. We took kayaks in the estero, had a campfire (made burgers from the farm’s ground beef), and took a trip into Tomales then out to the coast for a short drive from Dillon Beach to Pt Reyes Station with some fun stops along the way. I was aware of the other campsites, but they’re spaced far enough apart that ours still felt very private.

We absolutely loved the Badger’s Den site, and the wood-fired private sauna + cold plunge were really great amenities. Guido and Emily are super hosts and the care they put into the accommodation and farm is evident. Guido was exceptionally responsive over Hipcamp for all our questions during our stay, and messaged us when the cows were grazing within a short walk of the pond so we could go see them, having expressed earlier interest. Great stargazing, cute pigs. 11/10 stay - we will be coming back. Plenty of nice biking, hiking, and beaching nearby. The veggie croissant at Route One is a must-have.

Private, sweet retreat
The Great Blue Heron
The trailer was lovely and very private. Had everything we needed while we were in town for a wedding. There is wifi at the farm stand across the street, which was key for us since we had no service (t-mobile) and the nearest town, Tomales, does not offer wifi at cafes or stores. There were a number of little spiders in the trailer, which didn't bother us but might be a factor for those who are timid with critters. Had a cute visit from some tree frogs on the little outdoor sitting area and loved picking fresh blackberries from the huge bush outside the trailer to go with breakfast. Can't wait to cook up the frozen steaks we brought home!

An amazing stay with everything you could want! Taylor went above and beyond to make sure we had our fresh eggs for breakfast. The buckets of firewood were perfect and so convenient. Waking up to find little frogs hiding in our containers ans snails snacking on greens made everything so beautifully bucolic. The grounds were very well maintained and you could tell a lot of positive attention goes into taking care of the land. Picking blackberries straight off the land was an extra bonus! 10/10 we WILL be coming back!
