This charming place has to be seen to be believed! We actually stayed in the main house, not the school house cabin, and it was so cozy and whimsical. The wood-fired sauna on the pond is a dream. The paths winding through the property truly are enchanting. The host, Susie, is a hoot with a fascinating life story. She's very warm, welcoming, and accommodating. This isn't some rental house furnished with Ikea and designed to be Instagrammable- it's a true commune. My friends and I had an unforgettable experience. Come with an open mind, relax, and enjoy.

The place was nothing like it was described!
We booked entire Labor Day weekend for 30 people. I personally communicated with owner several times (both email and phone). It is all sounded so good! A paradise we thought we found for a few families with little kids. We were so excited, could not wait to get there! 3 families arrived first. After checking the place, we decided to leave! Just think about it! We called the rest of the people, set a meeting place in Chico and after some research went all the way to Shasta (we did not want to disappoint kids and go back home). That is how bad it was!
Place was full of garbage in every corner. Some construction was going on right in the middle of the communal place with all the building materials scattered around. Some unfinished tepees with all the woods just standing there. Pool full of leaf and with poison oak right on the path to it!
The outer house consisted two buckets! It was never explained to us when we made this reservation that 30 people will have two deal with their excrement using these two plastic buckets!
And the cherry on the top – bear footprints around the pond. It was never communicated to us that there are bears there. Place was not ready for it (no bear boxes) and we did not bring any bear spray or anything. You must understand how serious this issue is if you have 4-5year old kids running around! The place was totally unsafe for the kids and adults!

Enchanted Ridge
This was our second time staying at Susan's property. Last year I celebrated my birthday there and this year I knew I wanted to celebrate it there again. Susan and her daughter were very responsive and accommodating, and the property is beautiful and unique

Enchanted Ridge was a lovely stay overall. The property is secluded and quiet, located about 4 miles down a dirt road.
There are apple and plum trees, blackberry bushes, and a few wild gardens in varying degrees of attendance. There are little paths to walk throughout the property for exploring.
As everyone else has mentioned, the mosquitos were unrelenting during their peak feeding times, in the mornings and evenings, which got old after a while. According to Susie, they are even worse in June/July. Going in August meant that there was hardly any water in the pond, which is just what you get in CA. There was a very pleasant pool and a "dunk tank" by the pond for refreshing dips. It was a relaxing trip and we were able to unwind in the peace and quiet of this place.

Susan was a really nice and solid host overall so it's hard not to recommend this location, however, it was more difficult to social distance than we had expected even though we asked about that beforehand. If you're not too concerned about social distancing, mosquitoes (there are many), and lack of onsite trails then this site is okay.

Susan was awesome!! So inclusive and fun to talk to around the campfire. Our site was private and clean and the bathroom was nicer than expected.

Very picturesque, quiet, and an overall great place. They put in a lot of work to make the property charming and relaxing. A few notes— the pond isn’t always available for swimming. It would have been nice to know that before I booked it. Mosquitoes will eat you alive so bring plenty of repellant. Some campsites aren’t very private at all. We were right next to another campsite and we could see and hear every single thing they did (including when they were whispering that’s how close we were!). Other than that there is running water available at every campsite, the outhouse is surprisingly clean all things considered, and the grounds really are lovely and fun to explore.

Lovely forested area 30 min away from Chico.
A few disappointments: No campfires allowed in the dry season so there’s only one in a common area for everyone to share. The water level at the pond was too low to swim in. No picnic tables at the site either, but a small foldable table was provided. Our site happened to be right by another one that was occupied - so close that we could hear their every word & see every move. Our site was also very small so not much room for anything other than a tent & small table + chairs.
Very limited cell service but who needs it when you have swimming holes in Chico to explore!
In good news, the outhouse bathrooms are clean, don’t smell & have TP. Seems that every site has its own access to a water house which is useful.

Nice property but overpriced for what you get. Camp cites are not private, close to each other, sauna is not working, pond has very low water so you can’t swim, and the pool has lot’s of leaves and water bugs on the surface.

What a gorgeous little place. Very welcoming host and, alot of tables to hang out on, a rad fire spot, beautiful surroundings, the cutest little pond in the world, and an all around wonderful experience, dont forget that bug spray tho. Would definitely go back.

Enchanted Ridge
Susie and her place was absolutely wonderful! My four girlfriends and I had the best time just getting away. The ridge is truly enchanted as described and I hope everyone gets a chance to experience this!

Better than expected, Susan’s property has lots of space to disconnect and tune into nature. The sauna and pond was fantastic. We also enjoyed our secluded camping spot and the other campers company in communal areas.

ISO a place to ""Turn on, tune in, drop out"? Enchantment Ridge is just that place to BE. A short drive (3 hours) from the Bay. This is the place to turn off your phone (all electronics), follow the game trails, listen to the old growth trees and if you're lucky ;-) have the pleasure of "talk-story" with Susie. And while you're there...spend a few hours of your time giving back to the land and find a project Susie, long-time steward of this precious place, will surely benefit from.

Lovely fire pit, pond, and dance studio. We were able to wander around the property and take some nice walks in the woods. It was a bit unclear where her property ended and the neighbor’s began.

Susan and her family are some of the greatest people I have ever met and Enchanted Ridge is one of the most special places i have ever been. I have stayed there many times and my times there are always meaningful and sweet. I love it so much I hope to retire in Cohasset!

Enchanted Ridge
This is a special place! The sauna, pond, and yoga barn really set the Enchanted Ridge apart. We had a RAINY weekend, but our whole group fit comfortably into the beautiful yoga space at night. We loved the heat of the gorgeous sauna, and jumping into the pond afterwards was magical. Access to prep tables, a sink, and the grill over the fire made our stay really convenient.

What a charming property, nestled in the Cohasset wilderness. Adorable dogs and cats, welcoming hosts, funny noisy bullfrogs, apple orchards, wild berries, and... Mosquitoes. But with repellent, we weren't bothered too much. The water temperature of the pond was perfect. There is a communal firepit, running water, and a guest house with showers. Everything was beyond expectations. I will be back!

We had two younger kids (5 and 7) and camped in our tent. What an amazing place! So beautiful and comfortable. The pond, sauna, camping spots and general area were all well kept, clean and safe. Susie is awesome. Highly recommend this hipcamp!

Enchanted Ridge
We didn't want to leave this place! It was such a nice escape staying at this property. Susie has owned and lived on this land since the 60s. Since then a few more people have joined and helped her grow and cultivate the land. Susie has planted 3-4 gardens on the land and usually picks her meals fresh from the garden. She even shared her freshly picked salad with us during dinner!
On the property there is a yoga/dance studio in the upstairs level of the barn, which they use to host yoga/dance retreats. It has a beautiful bamboo floor and is kept up very well. You almost forget you're in a barn! We took advantage of this space and had a couple lovely yoga sessions during our time there.
There is also a sauna and man-made pond a short walk away from the main area. All their water is coming from the glacier water from Lassen Volcanic National Park, so the water was crystal clear and very refreshing :) It was so nice being able to jump into the pond after steaming up in the sauna!
There are a couple different options for lodging here. We stayed in the upstairs level of the main house, which has two queens, one king, and one twin bed. There aren't any dividers upstairs separating the beds, so you get to know your neighbors! There are also a couple twin beds downstairs as well. I would suggest bringing your own sleeping bags or blankets for bedding. Susie charges an extra cleaning fee for using her bedding. There is a toilet and shower available for use in the downstairs of the house as well. Outside you can practically pick your piece of land for your tent site. There are around 6 spots for camping in the main area of the property.
Community is a big aspect of this property and is encouraged for everyone that comes here. Everyone is welcomed to come join the fire pit they light every night. An outdoor cooking area is right next to the fire pit too. They just have tables for cooking, so be sure to bring all your cooking supplies! Fires aren't allowed at the individual tent sites, because fires can easily get out of hand in this area. So, they like to keep the fire to one area.
I would definitely recommend this location if you're in need of a mountain escape. This place is the perfect spot for it!
