We had a great stay at Juniper for 2 nights. The site host, Brian, was friendly and very helpful. Wonderful stargazing at night and good privacy, and we enjoyed having access to an outdoor shower right at our site. Would stay again!

We loved the camping spot and the hospitality of the host. We were welcomed and shown around the gardens, which made a great start of the stay. The view is absolutely stunning! We would come back and will recommend this to anyone visiting the area :)

The stay was amazing and much needed. A true camping experience and unbothered. We did the tour and it was nice to see all the plants and animals… the definition of truly camping under the stars.

If you live in the LA area or anywhere around the area of Kern this place is special. The spaces they have for RVs, campers, camper vans or rooftop tents this is an amazing place. You are completely out of the way so personally I felt safe here. The owners are really nice and super helpful. Weather your fishing, hiking, or just exploring the owner has 15 archers you can explore right off the back. If you hike the whole thing it’s amazing. Over all would highly recommend.

What a truly magical spot there on the side of beautiful mountains overlooking the Kern River Valley. Super peaceful.. great spot to reconnect with the oneness that we all are!
I’ll most certainly will return for future visits!!

Great absolutely quiet place on a hill under a big tree with an amazing view. The stars are clearly visible at night. The hosts were very friendly and kind to us.

Bill and Robin wete extremely responsive and gave clear directions. We got in after dark and it was easy to find where to go and where the bathroom and water were. The composting toilet was clean and actually smelled nice! We purchased the firewood bundle, which thoughtfully included wood shavings for kindling/tinder. Definitely recommend!!

The corrals are right on the edge of Weldon. The camping spot is very clean and flat. The compost toilet works great and is well spaced away from the campsite. The shower is cold and pretty basic.

Everything was wonderful from the stay, accommodation to the communication with Bill. Beautifully kept grounds with intention and thoughts put into the space for sure especially by Brian who is their camp host/groundskeeper who puts great pride into his work. I do wish I dug a little deeper into the land as I didn't realize the camp site was so close to Bill and Robins home as I was looking for more secluded time in nature (which I still got) but just had different expectations based on the pics. The other thing was how much the noise carries in the mountains and so when dogs barked from neighbors at the bottom of the hill, it would sound super close to the site which wasn't fun super early in the AM or throughout the day. All in all, I would still come back between how beautiful the land is, the peace I felt (especially as night) and the communication from Bill and Brian on site. As a added bonus, I saw a wild range of animals while there from horses to cows to a neighbors Bull, hummingbirds, frogs, ravens, hawks and rabbits.

This was my first time using hipcamp to find campsites and it was a great first experience. The owners have made a really cozy camp ground with an accessible shower, bathroom, and seating area. They provided seats, shovels, and brooms.The fire pit was perfect for cooking on and they provided us with a good amount of firewood as well as skewers for marshmallows. The hiking trails were clean and the views were gorgeous. The owners are really passionate on making sure your experience is a good one and respond to any questions fast. Thank you for sharing your beautiful land with us!

It was a beautiful spot, I wish we had booked it for a longer period of time, especially since we got in after dark! However, the hosts were absolutely wonderful, communicating and were right there at the gate to show us to our campsite. We took a nice walk in the morning up the hill to look out over the valley, which was beautiful.

Loved tipi camp! Location was beautiful, they had some sleeping pads and candles on site which was a nice surprise. Would absolutely stay here again!
Logistics to consider: You’ll still want to bring some sleeping bags and flashlights. The toilet is a bit of a hike from the tipi, so be prepared to walk 100 yards or so if you need to pee in the middle of the night. This is a TIPI- be ready for adventure.

Bill and Robin's land is so beautiful and very clean, thoughtfuly planned out with gorgeous plants and endless Vistas. Lots to explore and see. The teepee is a unique stay that will not soon be forgotten.

Great and exceptionell Place! A must visit during your road trip! Very friendly and personal welcome. You can expect to be in the middle of nature just by yourself. We were given a tour via the premises with a guidance to a besutiful sunset Point over Isabella Lake. Nice and clean Natural shower and bathroom nearby. A perfect and impressive spot we would not like to miss. Thank you!

The tipi was a great experience! The property manager and the homeowners were super responsive and showed us all around the place. The property manager took us on a tour up to see the lake, he was very welcoming. We were only there for a night but it was a super fun experience with a great host would recommend if you are in the area or want to stop by!

We loved the tent camping at Juniper Shade! They were very friendly, the spot is beautiful. Very clean (composite) restroom and a shower! On top of the mountain, short walk from the spot you have an amazing view of the area and lake. Must stay if you’re planning to visit the area

Bill and Robin were excellent communicators and their property is a slice of heaven! Their property manager was so welcoming and accommodating too. My daughter and I had a great visit. She loved meeting the horses and Fabio the bull. The views are are just spectacular in this setting. We'll be back, someday.
One little tip: if you have sensitive ears, I recommend packing earplugs or bringing something for white noise. I could hear neighbor dogs barking throughout the night.

So relaxing, watch out for hot weather since it could get a bit hot inside. Otherwise, GREAT experience and hospitality from the owners and amazing communication. Such a unique and wonderful experience.

This was the perfect spot to break-up the long drive and set-up camp. Got situated and was able to meet up with the caretaker of the property and get a nice hike up around and enjoyed looking out over Lake Isabella as the sun set. The place was quiet, cool in the shade (temps were over 100° during the day), and I was even given some fresh apricots to enjoy. I should add that the outhouse was clean and worked well for me. And I used the outdoor shower which started out cool (which was fine in the warm morning) but then evened out and worked well for me. Overall, a fantastic choice.

Quiet, private, gorgeous mountain views, the property is truly lovely and the host is communicative and helpful. Instructions were clear and the site was easy to find. I was solo tent camping on the Juniper Shade site and had a relaxing time watching birds, rabbits, and lizards, and even got to have some peaches off of the host’s tree! Purchased firewood from them as well and got a very generous bundle, plus a crate of kindling. Overall I loved it, highly recommend!

Maybe others get lots of chances to stay in a tipi but for me at age 58 this was my first time. The view is spectacular - stunning. Brian who greeted us gave an incredible tour of the property. We felt welcomed and loved our stay. One piece of advice - if you are someone who needs to use a bathroom in the middle of the night, it’s a bit tricky to negotiate the steps down to the bathroom. Consider staying at the campsite nearer.

We had such a nice time, the property is very private, very quite and well maintained.
Visited by a few lizards and a beautiful purple crested humming bird. The cactus garden and rock formations were beautifully arranged and we also got to browse the vegetable garden and hang out with the horses for a while. We watched them eat and they were living their best life. I was amazed how clean the stalls and property was.
Bill was so friend and inviting and Brian was helpful and fun to talk with. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us. We loved it.
