Bon’s cabin was very homey and relaxing 5⭐️s. It was a little spooky at night and dead silent but I would love to go back.

A dreamy cabin for adventurous folks looking for privacy and immersion in nature. We had such a relaxing and inspiring stay here. I loved all the interesting antiques and artifacts throughout the property, the incredible view of the ridge, and sitting outside watching mist float through the forest. Walking around the property we found tons of edible mushrooms including chanterelles! Wonderful location for exploring Elk, Mendocino, and surroundings. Bon is a very gracious and kind host.

Secluded and peaceful! A dog’s off leash paradise. Loved the quirky findings of the cabin. The more you look the more you see! The skytub and outdoor shower were my personal favorites, especially on a cold rainy day! It was nice to take a step back from the hustle and bustle and focus on simple day to day tasks, such as cooking, reading, building fires, and connecting with my dogs and boyfriend. Bon is very nice and responsive to any question you may have during your stay. Hope to come back in the summertime! Safe to say our pups are worn out from the constant play in the yard and nearby trails.

We had an amazing time at the Coastal Cabin. Bon is a very responsive host, loved the location. Very secluded and peaceful. Cozy wood stove to stay warm. Kitchen has a gas stove, large mini fridge and full sink set up. It’s a drive to get to coastal access, but worth it. We really enjoyed just doing nothing at the cabin. Will definitely be back!

This cabin was a welcome retreat from my wife and I's busy lives as music teachers. We had ample space and privacy to unplug and relax. The closeness to nature may make you think there's little to no creature comforts, but that'd be a false assumption. Hot showers, heating, wifi, and all the necessities for cooking and coffee
We could not be more happy with our stay, and eagerly await our next opportunity to return!

I loved it. The land and cabin felt cared for and welcoming. Our stay was in November so pretty cold but very cozy and worth it. We appreciated that the kitchen as well stocked with everything we needed. The outdoor tub was just the best thing ever and the bed inside was like a cloud. Would definitely stay again!

I had a lovely, cozy stay at Bon's cabin. The location is perfect - 10 mins from Elk, 20 mins to Mendocino village, 25 mins to Philo - and the drive is stunning. The cabin itself is incredibly private and cozy with all the amenities, from a full kitchen, to an equipped bathroom, to comfy beds. Then there's the outdoor tub (!!!), wood-fired sauna, and pizza oven. Though Bon has provided space heaters, one of my favorite parts of my stay was keeping the cabin nice and warm with the wood stove. Truly a perfect fall getaway, I can't wait to come back!

Coastal Ridge Cabin
This funky little cabin in the forest was just what I needed. I spent most of my time lounging on the outside bed, and soaking in the tub. The Huckleberries are abundant, and the beach is a short drive 10-15 minutes. What a perfect combination of nature and modern convenience.

(Mid July stay) The home is incredibly unique and sits on a great piece of property with trails and a ton of activity focused inclusions. This is not a traditional home or AirBNB but rather keeps a more "off grid" vibe, with eclectic designs and features, such as river stone in the shower floor and an awesome outdoor wood-fired sauna. To fully enjoy the amenities and layout, the home is best suited for a couple (2 people) rather than a group, so keep that in mind when booking. The secondary outdoor sleeping space is an awesome feature (when the weather cooperates) as well as the outdoor shower and bathtub (the home has a full indoor bathroom). Bon is a great communicator when you need assistance with property questions and keeps a lot of additional items on hand that would not otherwise be included at most places. Would highly recommend this secluded property as a gritty yet homey retreat for those looking for something different.

This place is pure magic. Nestled above the fog in the woods of the Northern Mendocino mountain ranges, this cabin perfectly blends rustic charm and modern comfort. It feels completely off-grid and private, yet you’re less than 10 minutes from the coastal towns of Elk and Greenwood, and some of the most stunning beaches and rivers in the state.
The cabin has everything you need: a fantastic wood-burning stove and woodfired pizza oven, eclectic “bohemian pioneer” vibes, and thoughtful amenities. The Cal King bed is super comfortable, and the outdoor queen bed on the deck is perfect for stargazing and listening to the night forest sounds.
The grounds are a dream: soak in the woodfired sauna, unwind in the hot tub (ask ahead!), or make homemade pizzas in the outdoor oven. There’s even an outdoor shower and bath under the trees — an unforgettable experience. This is the kind of place that slows time. Whether surfing the coast, hiking through redwoods, writing your next novel, or simply retreating into nature, you’ll find what you’re looking for here. Can’t recommend it highly enough — we’ll be back.

Bob’s place was perfect for us. A unique rustic feeling cabin nestled in the redwoods complete with outside bathtub and shower (shower inside as well), a sauna, and PLENTY of cooking materials including spices!
We enjoyed the aesthetic outside and inside and especially the outside naps on the bed. Great proximity to beaches and Mendocino.
The only problem… now I want an outside shower and bed at my place!! Lol!

Beautiful country, sweet cabin, extra cozy bed, well stocked kitchen. It feels like a real, cared for place and not another sterile vacation house. We were there for Christmas with our family of four and it was a perfect trip. Bon was responsive and very kind.

Coastal Ridge Cabin is an incredible oasis that truly provides an “into the out” experience.
Bon’s impressive ability to upcycle the entire cabin and its surroundings is incredible and creates a one of a kind place to stay.
The cabin has everything you need for a cozy getaway. The cabin is nestled in a private location with beautiful surroundings with and even has hiking trails right on the property to explore!
The bed was super comfy and the wood burning sauna is a lovely touch that we were very appreciative of during the colder evenings.
We hope to return again to this little slice of coastal heaven!

Bon’s cabin and land is very special. Highly recommend as a weekend getaway or jumping off point for exploring the Mendocino area. Bed was comfortable and fully functional kitchen worked well. I would note the cabin is most ideal for couples, even though it is advertised for more people. At the time we visited, we knew going in that our adult son might need to stay on the couch, the weather wasn’t suitable this trip for him to stay outside on the bed porch.

Wow! This comfortable, peaceful and well-appointed cabin truly exceeded expectations. Everything we needed was provided and more. The King bed was very comfortable and had plenty of blanket and pillow options. The porch bed was a great place to relax and watch the hummingbirds. And the kitchen had everything we needed to prepare and serve meals.
Our dog had the time of his life wandering near the cabin and even made friends with the neighbor's dog who popped by to say hello. This is truly a magical place to unwind and relax. It's also a quick drive to many amazing restaurants if you want to treat yourself to an really delicious meal. We will be back - thank you so much Bon!

Great stay at an eclectic, rustic, yet well stocked and very comfortable cabin. Had all the necessary kitchen amenities, comfy beds, good internet, etc., in a very peaceful, serene location not far from good beaches, seaside towns, and good restaurants. Nice host who is very responsive to questions about the property or surrounding area. Very easy to disconnect here, our dog loved it also. Highly recommend.

My partner and I had a blast, and our dog was completely enamored. The cabin offers all the comforts you could want, with a gorgeous scenic backdrop.
We took full advantage of the outdoor oasis of the cabin. Lounging on the outdoor bed and taking in the view was a definite highlight. I enjoyed a hot soak in the outdoor bathtub, which also boasts a phenomenal view. We didn’t get to try the pizza oven, sauna, hot tub, or outdoor shower, but we felt like we had more than enough to enjoy at the cabin. The outdoor deck is relaxing, and the shaded area is a great spot for yoga.
The cabin is conveniently located near the stunning Mendocino coastline. Plus, the moderate coastal temperatures made our stay much more pleasant. We also got to enjoy the Navarro River Redwoods State Park, a hidden gem full of gorgeous redwood trees and a swimming hole.
Notably, the internet is fast, and it was strong enough to support a videoconference call I had to take.
The only caveats would be that there is a musty odor, and there seem to be critters frittering around on the roof at night (which would wake up our dog).
All in all, we highly recommend this beautiful private spot! Thank you, Bon, for making this rustic cabin experience available to us!

This is the second time we have visited Bon’s place and it didn’t disappoint. We just love the rustic setting and the amazing views from the patio. It’s quiet and relaxing and is equipped with everything you need. The only issue we encountered this time around was mosquitoes which I don’t remember being a problem last year. However, we went to a local store in Mendocino and picked up a citronella candle that did the trick. So just bring some kind of repellent just in case.
The beds are super comfortable, the kitchen fully stocked and the indoor and outdoor bathing options are great! My dogs had a great time as well, running around the property. I highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking to get away from the city and enjoy some outdoor time without having to do the whole tent camping thing.

This was our second time staying at this cabin. When not at the beach or on the river we spend a lot of time on the deck looking out at the trees. Our dogs love to romp around the property also. Although it has a good kitchen the house is rustic so don't have expectations of a regular Airbnb kind of place. It isn't flawless, but we love it and will definitely be back

We loved staying at this eclectic, relaxing place. Every nook and cranny was filled with personality and while all amenities are there, it still rustic enough to have a wild and remote feeling like we were really getting away from it all! Lovely beach is a few miles down the road. We enjoyed soaking in the outdoor tub and using the outdoor pizza oven and sauna too! Would def stay again!

Cute and quirky:) Place was super cute and relaxing. Close to things but also far enough to feel like you're still in the woods. I LOVED the sauna and the cold plunge shower and used it twice a day! My dog had a blast exploring the property with me too! (just do a tick check after each romp). Bon's super nice and responsive. I'll actually be back in April so all went really well:). Thanks Bon!!

Magical place through and through. The spirit in this place is vibrant and the love the cabin and surrounding areas radiate is palpable everywhere. Bon was a great communicator and helped us figure out some fine details of making our stay the most comfortable. We stayed during a rain storm, so it was quite cold, but once we got the wood burning stove going steady it warmed up quickly and we were able to enjoy the outside through large windows with great views comfortably. This is a place we would love to return and are so grateful for the ethos of a wilderness cabin built of scrap material. The love for the earth and the space created within it was good medicine for us. Thank you.
