Alpen Cellars Winery was established on a family ranch in the spring of 1984; it is situated in a picturesque mountain valley at the foot of towering craggy peaks in the rugged Trinity Lake region of Trinity County, California. Alpen Cellars is a family venture in which each of us take part in the long painstaking process of wine production. From pruning to harvest, crush to fermentation and bottling, we strive for fine wine and a connection to our customers. It may seem like an unlikely location to grow wine grapes, but the combination of high elevation and favorable microclimate provide the ideal conditions for early maturing grapes.

Site is only for tent space or van camper only. This space can be used for extra people when staying in a tent, or by itself. No amenities provided besides a connection for a water hose if needed, small fire pit, and a bathroom. The bathroom is shared with the tent sites. Bathroom has hot and cold water. Please bring all your own supplies. *The closest store is an hour away in Weaverville, please be prepared for that. These sites are non-electric and accessible by vehicle. We have very limited cell service (normally only Verizon) and no Wi-Fi on the property. At this time no pets are allowed. Basic rules: Be wildlife safe! This is in nature and there is a variety of different animals around. Be fire safe! Douse your fire when you leave your campsite and at night.

Wildcat Peak, Site #1 is the site located farther away from the bathroom and parking but has a gorgeous view of the vineyard with wide open spaces. Each site will give you a private space! Your views will be of our vineyard surrounded by the mountains and the Trinity Alps. Our local area offers hiking for all levels, swimming, boating, trail riding, and more. On site we offer a small swimming hole and have access to a mild hiking trail. We also have a horse corral should you want to bring your own horses. Off-road vehicles or bicycles are also welcome. We offer two different sites. Each site will give you a private space with a small kitchen area, bear box, and a firepit. The site is furnished with full sized bed, light bedding, nightstands, trunk with kitchen supplies, small inside light, coat hooks, and outside lights. Bed fits 2 comfortability but can fit up to 4 people in the tent with 2 sleeping pads available upon request. The kitchen will have a sink with non-potable cold water. There will be basic cookware and dishes for the kitchen. This will include a two-burner camp stove. We will have a jug of clean drinking water available. We have a bathroom and shower room that is shared with the other site. There will be hot and cold non-potable water. Basic supplies are provided in the bathroom and shower room. There is an outside motion light at the bathroom and both rooms have lights. Please bring your own camping supplies if needed: extra sleeping materials, towels, specialized cookware, fire material, bathroom needs, etc. We tried to provide some basic solar lights around the bathroom and sites, but we suggest bringing flashlights and any camping lights. These sites are non-electric, as we are 100% off grid, and accessible by vehicle. We have very limited cell service (normally only Verizon) and no Wi-Fi on the property. Basic rules: Be wildlife safe! This is in nature and there are a variety of different animals around. Pets must be leashed and cleaned up after. Be fire safe! Douse your fire when you leave your campsite and at night. If you have any issues, please come up to the winery to let us know as you probably won't have service to call or text. There is a small convenience market with gas located in Trinity Center and a small convenience store in Coffee Creek. Here you will have the entire Hideaway to yourself! Your views will be of our vineyard surrounded by the mountains and the Trinity Alps. Our local area offers hiking for all levels, swimming, boating, trail riding, and more. On site we offer a small swimming hole and have access to a mild hiking trail. We also have a horse corral should you want to bring your own horses. Off-road vehicles or bicycles are also welcome. This includes 2 tent cabins (and a kitchen for each tent), 1 spot to put small trailer (18ft or less) or for regular camping tents, and 1 spot for extra tents (your own or from our tent rentals). The 2 non-cabin spots can also be used to host truck or van campers. Each spot should have room for 2 tents. We estimate that this entire site can accommodate 8-15 people depending on the different tents or space layout. Tent cabin sites: Each site will give you a private space with a small kitchen area, bear box, and a firepit. Site 1 offers more of a view of the vineyard and has more sun. Site 2 offers more of a shaded space and is closer to the bathroom. Each site is furnished with full sized bed, light bedding, nightstands, trunk with kitchen supplies, small inside light, coat hooks, and outside lights. Bed fits 2 comfortability but can fit up to 4 people in the tent with 2 sleeping pads available upon request. The kitchen will have a sink with non-potable cold water. There will be basic cookware and dishes for the kitchen. This will include a two-burner camp stove. We will have a jug of clean drinking water available. Campsite Spots: There are 2 designated spots that could each fit 1 small trailer (18ft or less) or a truck or van camper or each spot should have room to put 2 tents depending on size. *no fires at these extra spots* For the trailer there is one tight corner to navigate, which is why we suggest only a small trailer. If you do not feel comfortable with that, we suggest not bringing a trailer. There are NO HOOK UPs. The tent spots should accommodate 2 tents. We can be flexible on the number. We have a bathroom and shower room that is shared with the other site. There will be hot and cold non-potable water. Basic supplies are provided in the bathroom and shower room. Beautiful private glamping GEM!

Such a great private retreat with our 3 pups! It has everything needed for a glamping getaway and more! Very clean all around. All amenities were there and taken care of well. Peaceful and absolutely beautiful! Nice swimming hole that we wished we could have jumped in but the weather was a bit chilly! We also stopped by the winery and met Leith who gave us a great rundown of the history which was a pleasant little bonus! We will come back next summer for a few more day with friends to enjoy!

Alpen Vineyard Hideaway is wonderful! So thoughtfully created and operated. Coming to this glamping hideaway after a few nights of tent camping (which was lovely as well) was the perfect and comfortable way to end our multi-day camping trip! The Groves family have thought of nearly everything! The only recommended additions I would suggest guests bring are a tablecloth for the picnic table and a shade umbrella for the beach at the LOVELY swimming hole! Keith, the winemaker/owner, and his family clearly love what they do, and enjoy sharing the rich history of their special valley and vineyard with others! Thank you to the Groves family and all who help make the winery and lodgings so wonderful!

The Alpen Cellars campsite was so wonderfully quiet and peaceful with a view of the vineyard and mountains. It was equipped with all the essentials needed for cooking, the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom and shower facility clean, spacious and well equipped with soap, shampoo and also an assortment of sunscreen and bug spray in case you forgot your own. We spent 4 nights, and we are already looking forward to coming next year.

We loved camping/glamping at Alpen Cellar’s. The camp site we stayed at overlooked their vineyard. Such a beautiful place to relax!! We enjoyed the wine tasting and the recommendations for fishing and sightseeing around the area. We were grateful they shared the swimming hole with us so we could cool off on a hot summers day. We got to know our neighbors at the site next to us. Our sites were private and equipped with a cooking stove and utensils to use. Their bathroom and shower room were so thoughtfully decorated. Thank you again for a lovely stay!! W We can’t wait to come back and stay

Such a sweet spot! They really thought of everything when creating this spot. It was so nice to have a clean shower and running water. In the kitchen they have all necessities. The firewood was a big plus. The tent was cozy and perfect for the two of us with plenty of extra room. We loved being in walking distance to the water. We couldn't believe the other site wasn't booked up! Definitely go out to the winery and hear the story of how it all started and visit the beautiful horses. A very special place!

We really enjoyed our glamping experience at Alpen Cellars. From the quality of the canvas tent, all the kitchen/ cooking equipment and the bathroom/shower room was, such a nice touch. The swimming hole was fantastic and the wine was absolutely delicious!! Thank you so much for everything! We look forward to booking again next summer.

Lovely overall. Site was had great views. Tent was beautiful and we appreciated thoughtful touches, eg very comfortable chairs to look out over the vines, hooks, etc to have things laid out. Our dog loved the swimming hole and I loved the wine tasting. We were also pointed to a beautiful dinner spot nearby.

The glamping tent was great, loved the view of the winery, flush toilet and hot water shower were a treat while camping. Spent lots of time in the swimming hole since it was 100 out. Made our trip enjoyable despite being in town for a funeral.

My only hesitation in praising this beautiful place and the effort put into the campground is not being able to get a reservation again. The setting is idyllic, the tent itself was incredible, and the facilities were top notch. I've been camping for 20 years throughout the West Coast at scores of sites. This became an instant top 5. It is remote and hard to get to. There was no service. But if you want to get away, this is an incredible getaway. So relaxing.

Alpen Hideaway- Entire Site

We had a grand time at Alpen Cellar’s land! The swimming hole was heavenly and clutch on a hot day- short 1/4 mile walk from the glamping sites. We had the whole site so 2 platform tents that slept 2 families of 4, and a bell tent that slept 3. It was completely private and comfy w perfect combo of amenities- not to mention wine tasting right up the road! Highly recommend for family reunions!

We absolutely LOVED our little hideaway! I honestly couldn't recommend this place enough! The tent had everything we needed. The bed was so comfortable! We love being off the grid and unplugging from the hustle and bustle of life. There was nothing we had to do but listen to the sound of water flowing and the sound of the wind sighing through the trees. The swimming hole was perfect for the hot days. We look forward to going back someday!

A gem, located in a beautiful forest. The tent cabin and site was incredible. These are newly-built sites -- the construction and design are top-notch! The hosts have thought of everything to make a comfortable stay -- comfortable bed and bedding, multiple hooks to hang clothes, solar lighting, stacked firewood, sink/kitchen station. The bathroom/toilet and shower rooms are also top-notch. This is a proper toilet and shower set-up, not an outhouse. We had no problem sharing the communal toilet/shower with the other campers next door. Walked up to the winery for a tasting on Saturday afternoon and chatted with the owner Keith and his lovely daughter, Leah. Bought some wine, too! Great property along the river, scenic! Definitely cools off overnight, so bring a hat. Great spot!

What a great little spot. Nicely done, especially the kitchen kit and kitchen setup. Love the bathroom. The bedroom in the tent was tasteful and comfortable. Lovely view over the vineyard. Will definitely come back!

My wife and I and our pack of dogs loved our stay here. Both tents/lean-to’s look right onto the vines and towards the mountains in the distance. The tents are about 50 yards apart; they feel pretty separate though there’s no major visual break. The tents themselves are cozy and the beds are comfy. The bathroom and shower are nearby and really well done. Although the water is non-potable, the owners left a 5-gallon jug of water for us along with a heater since we were there in early November. The swimming hole a bit down the path is great, and don’t miss out on heading further down the path past the swimming hole turnoff, where you’ll find a gorgeous wide bend in the river; we were there when the river was low, revealing beautiful rock formations of many colors. Speaking of colors, the leaves at this time of the year were incredible shades of yellows and oranges. The wine tasting was also fun and delicious. For a small, family-owned winery, they produce at least 8 wines that we tasted. Owner Keith served us and our chat about wine and the changes to Trinity county was fun. The 5 horses down in the meadow made for a beautiful setting.

I loved all of the details that were put into this stay. The campsite was beautiful, the shower and bathroom was very well maintained and I had a wonderful nights sleep on the comfortable mattress surrounded by peaceful sounds of nature. The fire pit was perfect for the evening, and all the utensils we needed for the kitchen were handily available. Make sure to take advantage of the nearby swimming hole and walk up to the winery for an educational and tranquil wine tasting!

I loved staying at Alpen Cellars! Such a beautiful and remote spot. All the details have been handled with care. The sites are super clean, the bathroom and shower room were dialed in with amenities and super clean too. I stayed in the wall tent at site one with my daughter and my two boys stayed in a bell tent nearby. We had an awesome time going down to the waterhole and walking around the property, the outside kitchen is so handy and came equipped with plates, cups, silverware, tea kettle, camp stove and some other thoughtful items that of we needed for our time there. All in all I am so glad I took my kids to stay here.

Alpen Hideaway- Entire Site

Phenomenal location if you are looking to get away to get off grid somewhere beautiful. Accommodations are so comfortable and are thoughtfully equipped with everything from bug spray, to kitchen utensils, bathroom essentials (to use in the HOT SHOWER) and even family games. Just a short hike from the tent cabins is this gorgeous swimming hole, which was a very welcome reprieve from the 100 degree weather during our visit. The swimming hole was a huge hit for our family! We loved joining our hosts for a tasting experience at the winery to enjoy the delicious wine and also learning about the history of the Trinity Valley, search for gold and other minerals as well as the story of the winery. We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more and hope to return with our friends who joined us every year. Pictures don’t even do this slice of paradise justice.
