Fantastic location right on the river and close to town. Sites are comfortable and host is doing lots of work to improve the camp. Definitely do the sauna!

This was an amazing camping spot in a great location on a spectacular piece of property. We had room for our 2 dogs and had 3 days of camping bliss. Roger was great. He was responsive in communicating and just a great guy to spend some time with. This experience was better than expected.

I loved tentung on Roger's land. Everything was perfect with a wonderfull sight. We had firewood and table and a great tent to sleep inside. Beautiful!

Absolutely beautiful location right on the river!! Super cool newly constructed sauna with a fun cold plunge just outside in the creek. Really nice host Roger was so welcoming. We ended staying two nights instead of our planned one night because we just didn’t want to leave! Would definitely stay here again.

Haines River Camp 2

Haines River Camp is a gem. Roger has gifted visitors an unparalleled opportunity to spend time on the beautiful Chilkat river with amazing views of the Cathedral peaks as a center piece for a peaceful and reinvigorating experience. The sauna is amazing and has a wonderful fragrance from the freshly cut yellow cedar it is made from. Plan for experiencing a innovative composting toilet (each one shared between two sites) which takes a little effort to make sure we are being good stewards of the space (#1 and #2 in their own place, cover with saw dust...). It's different, but very doable. Per Roger, the temporary tent shelters are planning to be replaced with more permanent structures, but even as is, they provided good extra cover for our tents and the picnic table structures performed very well too. I highly recommend treating yourself to "roughing it easy" at Haines River Camp!

I really enjoyed camping at Haines River camp! The view was beautiful, and Roger was very hospitable. It was close to everything I needed (hiking trails, coffee shops, and downtown) but out of town enough to provide an incredible and peaceful experience right under the mountain! The campground was quiet, clean, and had everything I needed!

Off Grid Glamour!

Nothing wrong with “living in a van down by the river”. Actually, we slept in our tent next to the river with awesome scenery all around and a few raindrops coming down. Roger’s tent sites are covered with putting green floors - dry and comfy. The covered picnic table - useful. The composting toilet - practical. Roger, Roger!

We loved camping at Roger’s spot! The site was very well-maintained with beautiful views of the river, a nice picnic area and fire pit, and plenty of firewood available. Being right on the river, there were a lot of bugs, but as long as we kept a fire going, it was comfortable. We enjoyed the privacy that the camp offered while still being just a short drive to town. Roger was super friendly, easy going, and accommodating during our stay. We would definitely recommend his camp to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway, and we hope to be back again someday to try out the sauna!

Rustic, with a view

Rustic and charming spot, with an amazing view. You can kick back and watch the river flow by. The site had 2 shelters, a tarped structure over the picnic table and a pop up tent over the tenting pad which was a pleasant surprise to keep us sheltered from the rain.

Gorgeous setting on the River and Roger has done so much to make it comfortable. Clean John, fire pit, covered shelter, woodsy setting. Nice to have some distance from cruise ships but still be close to town. The highlight was Roger who gave us a wonderful dinner rec (field house kitchen). The last night he let us stay in his cabin (so kind!) to avoid the blustery weather and have an easier early morning transition to the ferry.

The view was really beautiful. We were excited to know there was a sauna and a dart board but ended up not having enough time to enjoy them. We slept well during our stay and sure will visit Haines again :)

Great spot on the River! Great location! Can’t beat the mountain view and seeing eagles fly past. The shelter tents are a great touch which was greatly appreciated for making it a little more dark for sleeping. We had fantastic weather and having the cover over the picnic table area is really useful if it rains. The sites are well separated and offer good privacy. Thank you!

The site is beautiful, and the host very friendly. We enjoyed the fire pit, and the covered picnic table was great when we got a little rain. It feels remote, but is very conveniently located close to town.
